Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

So, first time towing with the Y and it's Carasel-fitted tow bar this weekend. Car towed like a champion with trailer heavily loaded with furniture. But I will say that the stealth-nature of the towbar makes for challenging attachment of the trailer safety chain. The attachment point for the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It is certainly all I have used since getting the car. Auto speed sign recognition is a nice idea, but we are unlikely to see that in a reliable form until the autopilot code is significantly updated in existing cars (supposedly happening when FSD comes out of beta). Personally I find the...

That's my experience too. I plan most of my trips on ABRP and Plugshare and enter the non Tesla chargers manually. A bit of a pain.

That's my situation too. This is set up will suit me perfectly (and save some money). If you are in Sydney I would recommended Carasel.

Yep, 7 pin plug mounted behind the black plastic cover. Nice touch is that when you lift the cover of the plug, a tiny LED illuminates the sockets to assist with plugging in at night.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Just reporting a very successful supply and fit of a tow bar on my MY today by Carasel in Seven Hills (Sydney). Did while I waited and looks to be a neat and efficient job. No marks on the bumper, and all bits supplied (tow ball, tongue/goose neck, etc). $1450 all up. Install and bar warranted...

    Tilt/Swivel Screen mount for sale

I bought the Tilt/Swivel screen mount for the RHD Model Y before I got the car. Having lived with the car for 2.5 months now, I don't feel I need to install the tilt kit, so I'm looking to sell it It was bought from Hansshow and cost $225. It is unused and box only opened for inspection. Happy...

Probabloy worth mentioning that the Towbar Guys are in Melbourne and Carasel are Sydney (and maybe elsewhere) :)

Thanks Zombie - very helpful. It admit that I have missed that in the manual!

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Hi Zombie, Good to see you here. So just for clarity: what are the practical implications of NOT having the tow software when you towing (in my case, a trailer)? Thanks

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I don't believe it is an innate warranty problem - any more than having window tint fitted or other aftermarket accessories does. Any aftermarket work done badly has the potential to affect the warrenty.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

My understanding of the Tesla Tow software is that its main function is to switch off the ultrasonic sensors at the rear when towing. I believe this can be and advantage when in Autopilot (when the USS are all on). For myself, I would not use Autopilot when towing (for me, a trailer) so it...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Just saying that I've had 2023.20.4.1 for about 10 days now on my Feb 2023 build MYRWD and have no issues at all. That said, I've experienced virtually none of the 'common' issues that people talk about: no phantom braking, only two dry wipes, no black screens, zero build-quality issues, etc...

What to expect when you're expecting (Australia Delivery Process)

The email address depends on the state you live in. For NSW it's [email protected] If your pick up date is that soon I would submit asap.

Describe your initial impressions upon new delivery of 2023 Model Y

It was a 2019 top of the line model (can't remember the exact designation). No hesitation about the change. 😁

Thanks - yes, I spoke to them at Fully Charged too and saw the M3 mid fitting. That price is better with the hitch and ball included.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That would concur with my experience, thanks. Occasionally, I see other LED signs through onw of the cars cameras, and they strobe badly, and I think that is the root of the problem in reading LED speed signs - the camera's frame rates are insufficient to resolve the content clearly.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Haas anyone confirmed any improvement to the ability to read the LED speed signs on motorways? I read somewhere (maybe here) that it was working on 12.5 but I suspect it was GPS data that was feeding the speed limit to the system. I regularly drive the M4, M7 in Sydney and the car doesn't see...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I like the handle! That's a useful improvement. You say you got the bar/fitting from Carousel - so is it their bar or the EV Stealth bar fitted by them? EV Stealth's MY bar is around $1075 and fitting (they recommend Carousel for Sydney people) I understand is around $400. The total price is...

Describe your initial impressions upon new delivery of 2023 Model Y

I've only got 1,000k and a couple of weeks on my MY RWD, but here's my initial thoughts: I love the car, and find myself looking for excuses to drive some where. I'm very impressed with the build quality. I have very good panel fit all round, no loose bits anywhere and no squeaks or rattles at...

    Model Y Performance Spoiler

Well done! I've just spent 30 minutes playing with getting it centred as a dry run, but one problem I'm having is that having had the car ceramic coated, NOTHING sticks to it - not the blue painters tape, nothing! So I clearly need to clean off the ceramic coating first, but I only want to do...

EDDs are a work of fiction, they literally mean nothing. Always assume that the real delivery date will be past your EDD. If it's not, it will be a nice surprise. Tesla do not build/fulfil orders in the order they were placed. There is no discernible rhyme or reason to order people get their...

There was a big glitch in the assignment of VINS this week. Many appeared and then disappeared. Hopefully it's only a temporary situation and they will sort it in the next few days. If they do, your rego papers should re-appear quickly. But take the EDD with a very large pinch of salt.

Currently all Shanghai-made cars coming to Australia have the USS sensors installed and active. At the moment, no suggestion of that changing. Re: delivery: little chance of people have a 3/04 build yet. With the significant and ever-changing port delays it looks like 6 weeks from build to...

The ships are unloaded ASAP. Cars do not just sit on them. One of the reasons for delays in docking is to ensure the port has the capacity for the ship to unload. After that it depends on available parking next to the port, whether quarantine cleaning is required and what the supply of...

Tesla Shop - not sending orders?

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

At the moment weeks/months. My RWD Y arrived at PK on March 28th and I only get it next week (May 4th). Some people have cars on the ship before mine and are picking up after mine. That delay may reduce as fewer cars are requiring quarantine cleaning at this stage of the year, but many other...

Thanks for that ave. I knew the Enphase gateway is the restricting factor (but wasn't aware of the exact reason). Charging from Excess Solar with Teslapy

What to expect when you're expecting (Australia Delivery Process)

Anyone else still waiting for their car and has the Tesla app installed on their phone? The recent update to the app (v4.20.69 on Android) has a few 'Supporrt' links on the front page of the app - but with this update none of them work for me. Are others finding the same? Not a biggy because...
