    Additional layoffs

Well this hire&fire approach seems to be popular among "tech" firms of last few years. It will backfire on the long run though.

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Well, it depends, were they sacked because new models are abandoned under new Elon reality distortion field. Or were they sacked due to new models not being developed / development was too slow. Time will tell. In my opinion, when Tesla worked out production issues, it needed to push with new...

Footage of FSD v12 being tested in Germany

Just another attempt of pushing the stock price up. It is clear that in EU you can not have supervised self-driving system. Either you need a system which is completely autonomous and certified up to certain level or all of its main actions need to be indicated and a approved and initiated by...

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

For the rest of the world minimum is to have another hatch and an SUV model in a segment below current 3 and Y. Plus possibly a van. Ideally something modular, which can be made in multiple configurations covering both passengers and cargo and combinations of both. Cybertruck and Tesla Semi are...

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Tesla is a car company. :) Just a modern one. Car companies evolve over time. Old technology dies out. Companies not able to evolve die out. And Tesla is selling that it is being Google, but is not. It is not evolving its products and making new ones and is on the path to die out. Cybertaxi...

Poll - Who really need a model 2?

When we talk about Model 2, then it must be realized that US of A is not the only car market on the planet for Tesla. And it is pretty evident that tanking Tesla sales are also due to lack of products - new models are needed for capturing new markets. Whoever wanted 3 and Y has already bought...

    Frustrating Auto Wiper Mode.

Video for Elon: Or how to spend 20 bucks per car instead of quadrillion billions of bucks on non working AI solution.

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

My prediction is that around that date NHTSA will force Tesla with another recall. This one non-voluntary and prescribed what NHTSA wants and not what Elon smoked.

    Frustrating Auto Wiper Mode.

I think the problem is simply unsolvable using current setup. It is just another Elonism. AI can not solve what it can not see. Front cameras are just simply too close to the windshield and are designed to look on the road. Just use common sense and start using IR rain sensor on the windshield...

    2024; Tesla's Tipping Point?

Tesla will not cease to exist. But will need to adjust its priorities. And Elon will need to get some screws replaced in his head or get kicked out.

    Additional layoffs

Gigafactory Texas used to have almost 23 k employees. So little bit more than 10% will be laid off. Just a year before that number of employees was less than 13 k.

Warranty expiring on 2019 Model 3 - what to check?

Probably best to find some independent shop which can do the inspection and write down any issues found. Then create service request with issues found. :)

    $382 for a software update?

Wheel configuration change is an ultimate master reset switch? 🤪
  16. L

    Tire Rotation

I rotate the tires only when there is a signifficant difference in wear. I check them approximately every 3000 miles with a tire gauge. Tire wear can vary significantly between different cars, tires and drivers.
  17. L

How to order through Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC)?

You don't. You buy a new car and throw away the old. :)
  18. L

    Cybertruck battery only half full?

No, no. It is not half full. It is half empty.
  19. L

Rejecting my brand new model 3 Highland

I think issue is more broadband than just tires. And that is the main problem. As issues exist in parallel and might overlap or not. There are people who swapped tires and wheels with no avail.

    Robotaxi? Really??

It is always about Elon's ego. 😍🤪

Oil leak from rear of Model 3

Have the car checked. Might be the transmission fluid from the front or rear drive unit.

Out of warranty drive unit failure: Service Center recommends to scrap the car

You have shops around the world doing preventive rebuilds of those units for the fraction of the price of new. But you need to do it before it fails. For example EV Clinic in EU: https://evclinic.eu/2023/07/27/real-tesla-multimilionaire-is-p85-with-1-800-000-km-under-the-belt/

FSD beta v12.3 pulls the ultimate April Fools joke

Artificial intelligence is just making the same mistakes as natural stupidity from which it learns. :)
  24. L

Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC) won't be available on FSD v12?

It is mostly due to your point Number 2, why people need simple swiching/fallback to TACC. Actually for some rare situations with cameras failing, it would be nice to have also a fallback to Stupid Cruise Control - only with speed limit. Like for example pulling the stalk 3 times.

Mobile Connector charging questions and 16a or 32a Blue adaptor?

If you choose 32A adaptor, then you can charge up to 32A, meaning all the range 5-32A settable in the car or via the app. If you choose 16A adaptor, then you can charge up to 16A. Firesafe minimal cable for 32A is 3x6mm2. For a 90m run of a cable I would suggest using much thicker cable - 3x...

    Electric new sales S-Curve

You need to account that for the last decade whole world has been in a monetary expansion phase with resulting boom cycle. Now we are entering into bust cycle aka known as recession. In China recession is allready a fact, same goes for UK and Japan. Russia is in deep recession due to sanctions...

Karpathy: Self-driving as a case study for AGI

Of course we have a light et the end of a tunnel. It is another train coming to our direction. The train of AI & self-driving regulation, where it will be specified what system are allowed to do. And for FSD/autonomous driving systems, what benchmarks they need to achieve to be allowed on the...

    Are acoustic tires noticeably quieter?

If the noise difference is more than 3 dB then it is detectable by most humans. Usual noise difference due to foam only is only around 1 dB. Usually not enough to be detectable. That is usually not worth +40% price difference. If they would bring price difference down, then we can discuss …
  32. L

    Are acoustic tires noticeably quieter?

I select Valid point. From my perspective, most of those tires are just extra profit margin for the producer as they place it way above the average price of equivalent non-acoustic tire. Maybe increased competition will bring the prices to more normal levels in the future …
  33. L

    Are acoustic tires noticeably quieter?

EU tire label includes noise figure in decibels. There are tires which are less noisy and are not marked as acoustic. There are mutiple ways to reduce the noise of the tire. Acoustic absorbent foam is not the only way.

Sudden capacity drop reported by Tessie

My Tessie app is suddenly reporting battery capacity drop over last few weeks, approximately coinciding with holliday software updates. I am trying to keep most of the charges below 70% SOC, mostly targeting 55%. Maybe BMS needs calibration as I have not been charging above 70% SOC for last...

    The 30-60 rule

Near 0% SOC and very cold weather do not mix gracefully. Proposed rules work fine in hot climates, where also calendar aging is high. But may break apart in cold weather where calendar aging is already low. When temperatures drop below freezing point, effective capacity of LiXXX batteries can...

What's happening here? Too cold for Superchargers?

Norwegians just use common sense. (Bjorn Nyland excluded :)) Like, do not get out in extremely cold weather. And if you do, do not run down your battery to almost 0% SOC, preferably not below 20% SOC.
  37. L

    Tire Pressure Question

I adjust tire pressure several times per year according to the season. When winter comes, I wait for a cold morning with temperatures few degrees below freezing point and adjust tire pressure. When spring comes, I adjust in the morning when temperatures are between 5 to 10 deg C. When hot...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

There is no CCS charger in the car. Not in a CT, not in a Hyundai. The reason why Hyundai went 800 V is the same why CT went this way. And why probably whole future Tesla fleet will eventually go 800 V way.

Even basic Autopilot AutoSteer is still Beta. And robotaxis are just behind the corner ... 🤥

New AutoPilot is horrible after update

If you ask me, instead chasing unicorns, Elon should focus more on some of the software basics. From better voice recognition with more supported functions to setting threshold levels for auto headlights turning automatically on in dim / foggy conditions. Not to mention non working auto-wipers. :)

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Nope. It usually takes 3 years for next significant refresh, even with Tesla. Tesla is just more keen to introduce smaller less risky incremental changes yearly, while conventional car makers wait for full 3 year cycle.

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

I always wait 12-18 months after car model refresh for new issues to be cleared up.

    Can I buy genuine parts?

Well, never buy a car in a non supported country by the vendor. It is the same for Tesla or for a Bentley. That is why I avoided buying a Tesla until my country was officially supported with a local shop and service centre. Everything else is calling for trouble. Car is an expensive and...
