Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

Your welcome. I also had to use electrical tape coz the black thing wouldn’t go back. I kept the seatbelt tool just in case I have to remove the seatbelt for something else in future. You should probably restrict the seat movement to make sure it doesn’t get to the most top, forward or backwards...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

I don’t think you pull the plug directly. If I remember you need to pull the Orange piece out to unlock it and than pull.

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

That’s pretty much what you need to do. Unplug the connector/sensor and open it up. Once you unplug it, you will need a flat head screwdriver to remove the top plastic trim on the connector to expose the wires completely. Attached a couple other pictures that I took with top trim removed. You...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

Are you good with soldering? Here are the high level steps. 1- Remove the seat belt first. There is a special tool that you can buy on eBay which is needed to remove seat belt. 2- Remove the side trim plastic piece on the left side of the seat. You can access Tesla Service manual online. It...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

It’s the same issue for sure. I am pretty certain that the wires connecting to the plug/sensor are loose. Goodluck inspecting and feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Before you proceed with inspecting the plug you should access the service menu and bring up alerts to see the detail on the error massage that you see. I have highlighted the detail I saw in the service menu. If you get the exact massage then it’s definitely the same sensor/plug. Use Google to...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

It’s the same issue. I have attached pictures of the sensor. You can see that the connection was very loose and the wire completely separated after I removed the sensor. I had to solder it back in place. Are you pretty handy DIY person? The repair requires a special tool to first remove the seat...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

Good to know. In my case, massage would disappear at a certain seat height and would come back when I would lower the seat from that height. My wife told me to adjust my driver profile to the seat height where massage won’t appear. But I didn’t want to do that coz it was uncomfortable for me to...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

In my case, the wire connecting a sensor to seat belt pretensioner was partially cut off. This most likely happened because I had set the seat position to its highest point in the easy entry profile. To find out if it’s the same issue for you, raise the seat forward and to the highest setting...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

My 2019 M3 dual motor had was well out of warranty. I was able to pin point the issue and fixed it myself. I can share the fix that worked in my case if you are out of luck with Tesla covering it under the restraint warranty. This is bizarre btw, you have only passed the 50k mile warranty by...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

Found a thread where an owner got it fixed under warranty by visiting a different service center and speaking with the manager. Attaching screenshots.

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

I think you may need to speak with a manager at the service center to include this in the safety restraint system warranty coverage. I read in this and some other forums that some owners were able to have this included in the restraint system warranty

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

I think the way their process is to order complete seat just in case they need to replace it. If they can fix the issue without seat replacement, they won’t replace the seat. I believe they want to ensure that the car doesn’t keep sitting in the service center if seat replacement is required and...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

It’s exactly the same issue and I actually know which connector is causing it. It’s the connector that attaches to the seat belt pretensioner. When I wiggle the wires to that connector, error disappears. I already spoke with Tesla and they are not willing to fix the connector. They are saying...

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

Thanks for the info. Looks like you got a technician who was willing to take time and fix the bent pin instead of replacing the entire seat. In most cases they just replace the entire wire harness or the entire seat without attempting to diagnose and fix faulty connection.

Safety restraint system fault - Fixed

Hello, I am in a similar situation. I have a 2019 LR AWD model 3 and Tesla service center is asking for $325 to replace the wiring harness. However, I see that you paid $162 for the wiring harness replacement. That’s half of what I was quoted. May I ask what year and model is your car? Thanks

RCM_a021 front left safety restraint system fault

I am in the LA area. I have pin pointed the connector that has the issue. Do you know anybody specifically who can fix the wiring for the connector?

I can ask them if they have the connector as a separate part. But I haven’t done soldering before.

RCM_a021 front left safety restraint system fault

I had some spare time today and looked at the wires underneath the back side of the front seat and found the issue. The wires connecting to the seat belt pretensioner are loose. When I wiggled the wires, error message popped up. Moving the wires in the other direction cleared the error. I am...

RCM_a021 front left safety restraint system fault

Hello, I am getting this alert RCM_a021 on my 2019 Model 3 Dual Motor AWD which is out of warranty. The alert disappears when I adjust the seat past a certain height but come back as soon as I lower the seat height. The alert description within the service mode points to the driver side lap...
