Keeps Staying the Highway Passing Lane

I find FSD useful for road trips. It was good on v11 and its better on v12. I have the same "issue" as others with it moving into the left most lane even when there is limited or no traffic in the right lanes. I set it to "minimal lane changes" every time i used FSD and that resolves my...

Camping mattress to sleep in Model Y?

I use the lost horizons mattress. It thick/sturdy enough when inflated that I don't need anything else to cover that unsupported area. That gap is where your head/pillow goes, so not a lot of weight.

Which Model Y AWD would you get? (Factory/Engine/Options/Etc)

Just get the one that fits your needs or you like best. They are far more similar than different when talking about AWD models.

    How to gracefully disengage FSD

Thanks. I have done that, but it still generated the "what went wrong" alert and sound. I see that question and sound as ungraceful. Others may find this appropriate and/or graceful. To be clear, my definition of gracefully exiting FSD is: an easy method to turn an FSD session off while...

    How to gracefully disengage FSD

My answer is simple: because there is no way to disengage FSD gracefully. Not every disengagement is a valid reason to bother the operator with "what went wrong?". In many cases, nothing has gone wrong. This is a very small problem of course, so please don't think is very personally important...

    How to gracefully disengage FSD

I appreciate the response. If this message is expected, then I find it misleading. It is asking why it disengaged, but in the situations i described, it already knows the answer: I turned it off on purpose via the lever or I took control of the vehicle. I would expect this message if the...

    How to gracefully disengage FSD

Apologies if this is a simple question and has been answered before. Searching didn't turn up a simple answer. I recently subscribed to FSD for a month and did a 2400 mile road trip with. I found it very valuable for many hours of driving per day, but untrustworthy in town or around traffic...

Campground Camping, Sleeping in MY Supply List

I have a set of shades I keep in the underfloor area in front of the subtrunk. I have only needed them once so far. We only sleep in the car at night. One night we stayed at a KOA type campground and the giant bus sized RV had LED flood lights on all night and we needed the shades to block...

I had no idea the efficient fell off a cliff when it's raining!

Could the efficiency hit also have been due to wind? Your consumption of 231Wh/mi is very low compared to my averages. Maybe you had a tailwind on the way there and a headwind on the way back? I recently returned from a 2400 mile road trip in my 23 Y and we had a day of driving directly into...

Camping mattress to sleep in Model Y?

No, doesn't fit in the well. I looked hard at ones that do fit in the well and there were too many negatives for me. Space is an issue and the front trunk is just too small for any reasonable volume (and there is no warranty safe 12V power there). The front trunk also goes below freezing in...

3.5 year MYLR update 179.7k miles

Wow, I'm impressed. Having commuted in and out of manhattan daily by car I can appreciate the hell you endure. A huge plus is doing the commute outside of rush hours, but that means you commute while they do the road closures for construction. My hat is off to you sir.

    trunk 12v outlet not working

Glad you found it. Where is the fuse? Hard to understand how a 5A fuse was the problem when the 12V (really 16V in current production cars) is rated for 12A continuous and 16A peak.

Camping mattress to sleep in Model Y?

These exist, but they are large as the ones that work well have 2 separate compartments. All of these are dual zone: https://icecofreezer.com/collections/dual-zone-fridge-freezer I have this model, which i selected based on size, power efficiency and quiet. This fits well into the back of the...

Campground Camping, Sleeping in MY Supply List

I don't know how thick these bags are. Keep in mind that if you are camping in the car using the HVAC (which outside of huge rain/wind storm i'd rather be in a tent when the temps outside are moderate) that you can't set the climate control to a hold temp lower than 60 degrees. So bags that...

    Aftermarket TPMS?

I personally wouldn't get knock off TPMS sensors. A friend owns a tire shop and the number one cause of flats at his shop is not punctures, its TPMS sensors that develop air leaks.

Campground Camping, Sleeping in MY Supply List

One more tip that works for us. We only stay at campgrounds and not on the side of the road, parking lots or walmart. This tip wouldn't work in public places. We generally have a lot of stuff with us for whatever activities we are doing on the trip. I pack most everything into large plastic...

Model Y Performance vs Y long range suspension

Tesla could reduce the price more, but I doubt in response to the Honda Prologue. That is a GM ultium rebadge and GM ultium is off to a very rocky and slow start. GM could get this under control and start to put some pressure on Tesla, but so far that appears unlikely in the short term. As...

21 to 24 lr. Worth it?

I would only consider it with favorable financial circumstances. Like maybe this is the last year you will qualify for the federal 7500 and/or state incentives and the deal on the car is also excellent. Otherwise it's just about the same car.

    Aftermarket TPMS?

Same. They were labeled as tesla oem parts and have been in my winter tires all winter. I had discount tire assemble, balance and install the wheels, tires and sensors. Works perfect so far.

I'm pleased with the lost horizons mattress that was about $200 from amazon. It is quite comfortable to lay on and I find that I don't need to add any air to it, it self inflates to a comfortable firmness on its own. I do need a pump to vacuum it down and roll it back up to get in the back. I...

Gyeon Leather Shield Streaks in black seats?!

Tesla has recommendations for cleaning the interior in the owners manual. I'd follow those and see if the streaks come out. Keep in mind that the seats in your tesla are not leather and leather products are not appropriate (or recommended).

2023 Y 2300 miles - no cameras, autopilot or gps

OP update: It's been over 2 weeks since Tesla replaced the autopilot computer and I haven't had any repeats of failed cameras, stuck GPS, auto headlights going on and off, etc as reported when this thread started. I'm calling the issue solved but will reopen this thread if the issue reoccurs...

OP update. 5 days since Tesla replaced the AP computer. So far, so good, no failures. This is the longest period without a failure in months. Fingers crossed that its solved. Waiting full 2 weeks to call it good or not.

Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive Performance

Hmm, i thought that too, but the acceleration boost doesn't get the 0-60 time down to 3.5 seconds. That is the official time of the performance model (roll-out subtracted). So the 3.5 time is not really 0-60, where the other models are true 0-60 measurements. Still, an LR with AB is 0-60 in...

2023 Y 2300 miles - no cameras, autopilot or gps

Model Y- car computer to be replaced after running 4K miles

If they say it needs to be replaced, allow them to replace it. FWIW mine was just replaced after a multi-month saga of cameras, gps, etc failing intermittently. My car is also a 2023 Y with currently about 3500 miles on it.

My Model Y battery loses 2 % each day while it sits in garage, Sentry & Climate are off, what gives ?

Mine losses 1 to 2% in the day following charging. If it sits undisturbed after that initial period, then it drops very little. Hard to day how much as I drive it most days, but I'd estimate 1% or less per week.

2023 Y 2300 miles - no cameras, autopilot or gps

OP here. Got the car back yesterday. Drop-off and pickup through the app, so I didn't get to talk to service advisor about the work done. According to the report in the app, they replaced the car computer. So far, so good, its calibrating cameras still. If no failures for the next 2 weeks...

I'm in Denver FWIW. Its a white dual motor 3 with 47k miles on it. I don't know the year, but I could decode the VIN to find out. It has chrome door handles, so that may help determine the age. Unfortunately, now tesla says my car won't be ready until next tuesday. They did not provide a...

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

Its only a luxury car compared to ICE cars at similar cost. Its a luxury to have so much instant power available. Its a luxury to have one-pedal driving and not need the brake pedal most of the time. Its a luxury to have very little powertrain noisem, vibration, and harshness. Its a luxury...

2023 Y 2300 miles - no cameras, autopilot or gps

Is the new Macan EV a MY killer?

These 2 vehicles are not really competitors in the marketplace. Try to buy a base porsche, they almost don't exist as dealers won't order them. I have tried in the past. Commonly equipped the Porsche will be double the cost of the Y.
