Car started going thunk thunk while driving

Could be driveshaft splines - think they lube them up and tighten the hub nut

2013 Model S 60D doesn't charge, what is scrap value?

If it has air suspension, it’s definitely worth parting out It looks pretty clean so you’d easily make your money back if you lay out a couple of grand

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

You have a Chiller and Evaporator error there too - I have attached my results from August
  4. richrootes

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

The radiator actuators are easily accessible once the frunk is out They’re the same part as those fitted to the condenser louvres Once the weather warms up, I intend swapping them over to see what happens

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

Predictably, OP has disappeared off the face of the earth Fishy, as the app would only report the last ‘driven’ tyre pressure…..

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

Probably did you a favour - that tyre looks questionable to me Any tyre shop can repair punctures AA or RAC can get you out of trouble Not sure what else to say really - maybe watch some YouTube videos on car maintenance?

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

Received 2024.2.3 today - very pleased with this update, as there’s now a ‘Brakes’ sub menu in Service Mode, which allows some tests and most importantly - bleeding! Thank you, Tesla if you’re watching - and please add something to allow louvre calibration next (condenser shutters)

Supercharging for an Early Model S - Can't Tesla do the right thing?

For the poster’s sake, I hope this is a newly discovered workaround for those caught in this situation - not sure I’d be posting it on here until I’d had the work carried out though, Tesla employees do read the forums!

Supercharging for an Early Model S - Can't Tesla do the right thing?

Could be something to do with MCU1 - maybe it can’t handle the code required for PAYG? It‘d be interesting to take a look at the handshake that occurs at a Supercharger for free Supercharging - and what indeed happens to those cars that are traded in to Tesla, lose the FUSC and are then resold...

Calibrating door handles using new tool

No, but worth a try, surely? Worst case you’ll need to take the door card off - which you might have to do anyway Good luck

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

According to the nhtsa.gov site, AP1 cars won’t be receiving an update for quite some time. Go there, enter your VIN and you should see the timelines

Yep, all good so far on mine - had it about a week

Is Tesla service trying to rip me off?

Good lord Have you never made a mistake in your life before? They fixed it - enjoy the car now it’s working again
  18. richrootes

Ready to charge. Unable to charge ... no power at station.

You’ve got ‘fast charge contractors open’ in the first image - now is it the missing pilot signal or another fault preventing them from closing?
  19. richrootes

Finally! Free Unlimited Super Charging FUSC can be transferred

I’m assuming that if you drive it off the lot and you’re immediately involved in an accident which writes off the vehicle, there’s no ‘do over’

1 month old Tesla Model 3 Long range T-Boned [Is this totaled?]

Fair, but I expect someone will take issue and you’ll be ‘snipped’!
  21. richrootes

Tesla Charger head, plastic pin got ripped out - does the pin do anything?

It should still work ok As for getting it apart - forget it. The whole thing is injected with rubber/resin and is a one time assembly deal. I had one that was erroneously generating an over temp error that I tried to get apart I enquired about a replacement cable for the wall connector, but...

Model Y - vehicle 4 weeks old already 2 tire punctures - warranty coverage?

Hope your luck improves The reason I thought they looked deliberate is because they’re screws - when I had similar poor fortune a few years ago, mine were all nails (timber construction) plus their orientation was totally random - yours are in precisely the right places to write off the tyre
  23. richrootes

Model Y - vehicle 4 weeks old already 2 tire punctures - warranty coverage?

Those look very suspicious to me - are you sure you haven’t pissed someone off?
  24. richrootes

Why Tesla doesn't use an "overdrive" for better range?

I think the cars already do this with ‘torque sleep’ - introduced seven or eight years ago

    Snippiness 2.0

Woo hoo - someone else who just joined up to moan! You’ll go far, sir - far into my ‘ignore’ list

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

This surely would be the reason for the ‘calibrate’ procedure in Toolbox?

  28. richrootes

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

It’s fact insofar that it’s the behaviour I have seen on all four actuators with my own eyes. There would almost certainly be an index spline if the position was critical
  29. richrootes

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

The positioning doesn’t matter - all actuators turn every time you open the charge port or start the car to redetermine their ‘limits’. You can prove this by disconnecting then reconnecting - it will always move in the same direction
  30. richrootes

Upgraded MCU1 to MCU2 - Are you experiencing New Problems?

Not seen this either - maybe go into service mode and force a software redeploy
  31. richrootes

    Air suspension issue

Not definitively, but I don’t think I’d advise driving it at all whilst deflated - other components are likely to be damaged, along with giving you a bone shaker of a ride I‘ve seen other threads on air suspension trouble - you’re probably looking at a new compressor. There are ways to get it...

    Air suspension issue

Wow - do you see all that under normal ‘Service Mode’? I have MCU2 and don’t see the extra suspension stuff

Would you fancy sending me the actuators you aren’t using to try on mine?

I guess they’ll regulate what they can, and ‘sign this waiver’ for others Interesting times though

    Navigation Audio Speaker

We noticed this today - I personally thinks it’s a fantastic improvement. Separating the navigation from the music is one of the most logical things to be updated for a long time I really like this update - new service mode toys too. I hope they keep adding them……especially for louvre...

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

The left one did calibrate though, so that’s something at least (wasn’t this the one that you didn’t see move at all?)

2019 M3 Rear Vent blows warm air when low-level cooling is required

Go into Service Mode and run a thermal test - the results should show if there’s a faulty sensor or actuator

    Car Wash incident

Request a copy of the footage from ICBC I fail to see how they can attribute 100% blame to you without hearing your side - I know ICBC can be a bit wonky, but this is plain silly
  40. richrootes

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

Ok so now I guess the next question is does recalibration fix the error? Wish it was easier to get Toolbox and play around - I used to use VAG-COM on my A6 and it was fantastic

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

Have you tried different combinations now of your existing and replacement actuators? Wonder if you can find a pair that plays nicely together….

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

Did they quote an actual proper part name or number? If no errors are present when you are in the proper service page menu, then I’d say there are no parts that need replacing On the other hand, I thought the car alerted you when low on coolant or refrigerant

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

I’m out of luck then - I upgraded to MCU2 I’ve been asking Tesla about the condenser shutters not opening during charging since before my warranty ran out, but they always said they were fine - of course service mode didn’t exist back then, so one couldn’t argue I suspected throwing parts at...

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

Very pleased for you! It‘s a shame that this is not included in the standard ‘service’ page - I have no clue how to get access to Toolbox on my car to carry out the calibration Do you need the OBD2 connector etc?
  49. richrootes

    Has anyone repaired cooling louvers?

Depends how long that’s been going on for. More likely to be a loose connector or an overly sensitive ultrasonic sensor that doesn’t like having moisture on its surface
