    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I wouldn’t call the Highland “bleeding edge” with respect to updates.
  2. A

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Agreed. I can still feel it every once in a while…even trigger it ever so slightly under some circumstances, but by and large it’s gone…subtle to the point now that it likely never would have justified its own thread. 😂

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Same. I’m super thrilled with the fix, and would have bet $100 it couldn’t be handled with a software update. This was really the only issue I had with my car, so I’m now very pleased with my purchase.

Steering wheel blocking some parts of two screens in 2021+ Model S

Another issue with legibility is that Tesla seems to have implemented a “dark” vignette around the corners of the central gauge cluster to the extent that it effectively obscures some of the graphics (high beam symbol, for example). Too cute by 50%.

Significant improvement on auto high beams

I’ve noticed significant improvement as well.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I have no idea why you guys can’t tell the difference with *.44. There are a “few” times I can perceive it lurking, but it’s cleared it up for me 90% of the time. The only time I feel it lurking is if I run up through 38-45 with NO vibration, then back off and accelerate at just the right...

    software upgrade to 2023.44.30.**?

My experience is just the opposite. I have to hold the wheel LESS and now only very rarely does it warn me to apply force. I think this is due to the use of the camera. Disabling that would likely require more frequent wheel torque verification.

    software upgrade to 2023.44.30.**?

I made a separate post about this in the “User Interface” forum, but I absolutely love this update to Autopilot. Previously, as everyone knows, the car required a consistent and annoying “force” applied to the yoke/steering wheel, and now this is NOT required. It seems for cars equipped with...

One thing I LOVE about the Autopilot "Recall"

Upon further use, about 90% of the time I don’t even have to have my hands on the wheel. It seems the emphasis on driver awareness has moved primarily to the in-car camera, at least during the day.

One thing I LOVE about the Autopilot "Recall"

By the way, I wanted to correct this comment…my Model S in-car warning says to “Apply Force” to the yoke.

One thing I LOVE about the Autopilot "Recall"

I need to update my profile, but yes, I have a 2022 MSLR with an in-cabin camera. What's the scenario for cars that do not?

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

For the record, I certainly understood it was applying rotational torque to the steering wheel/yoke. Personally, I found it overly obtrusive and borderline ridiculous in 2023, so I'm super happy with the change.
  13. A

One thing I LOVE about the Autopilot "Recall"

You're right, Tesla doesn't use that terminology on the screen, but in practice (previously) it was a misnomer, because simply placing your hands on the wheel was not adequate...the wheel needed an input in order to satisfy the requirement. That input, in my experience in my car, was both...
  14. A

One thing I LOVE about the Autopilot "Recall"

By Tesla's own documentation, "tugging" the steering wheel was required to verify interaction...every #@^#! 30 seconds. Now I don't have to do that. It's a win in my book.
  15. A

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

In my experience, there was no "resting your finger on the yoke" there had to be an intentional, relatively forceful steering intervention (yes, I know you could also adjust the volume to trigger it). My wife's X3 uses a capacitive sensor, and doesn't require moving the steering wheel. Tesla's...
  16. A

One thing I LOVE about the Autopilot "Recall"

Apparently there's no more yanking the steering wheel/yoke every 30 seconds like a neanderthal. THANK YOU TESLA (via NTSB)!!!! I can simply drive with one hand on the wheel like a normal person (and like my wife's X3). I don't know if this is from a previously unused capacitive sensor in the...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

I own a 2022 MSLR and aside from all of the other chatter about this "recall"...I just came here to say that I'm totally excited that they finally got rid of the ridiculous steering "tug" previously required every 30 seconds!!! FINALLY I can just drive my car with my hand on the wheel without...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I’ve had completely even wear so far on my square setup. Zero issues.
  19. A

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Apologies as I didn’t note whether you have a Plaid or Long Range, but in my Long Range, I’ve never noticed a startup or 80+ vibration, only the 38-45 MPH, which as you note is BY FAR the most obtrusive. I’m glad to say that the *.44 update seems to have largely resolved this issue, which was...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Given the sheer volume of forum posts and comments on this subject, you think you’d see more people jumping on here for sheer joy that this was effectively resolved. Count me among those who were completely suspect that something seemingly mechanically related could be resolved by...

    Square vs staggered

Wider tires (relatively) seems like the opposite of “stretched”? Anyway, I’m running a 20” square setup and really like it. 275/35ZR20 (Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4)
  22. A

    Need help figuring out vibration

Yes, I have 2023.44.1. I also have the Long Range, not the Plaid. There appears to be some question about whether or not this “fix” was applied to non-Plaids.
  23. A

    Need help figuring out vibration

Yes, and I’m not fully convinced it made much of a difference, if anything.
  24. A

    Need help figuring out vibration

It’s not the carbon wrapped rotor because this 40-45 MPH vibration is also common in the standard MS Long Range. I have a 2022 MSLR with this same issue.
  25. A

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

So does the .44 update address this on the Long Range models? I have this update on mine and it feels improved to me, but I need to test it further.
  26. A

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Let’s hope so…the 40 MPH shudder is literally the only thing wrong with my car. It’s not a show stopper, but the longer I‘ve had it the more it’s annoyed me.

    My FSD 11.4.4 Review

I wouldn’t call GM’s Super Cruise stupid. It does exactly what it’s designed to do...and at least it’s truly “hands free” because do you know what actually is “stupid”? The fact that Tesla’s system requires you to continually yank the wheel, incessantly, in 2023…like a cave man. Even our BMW...

Refresh Map Auto-Center/Auto Zooms with 2023.6.8

So Navigation was an option and not standard at one time? That’s super odd given the fact that you have access to the map.
  30. A

Refresh Map Auto-Center/Auto Zooms with 2023.6.8

That’s easy, and is a built in feature. Once you establish a navigation destination, if your “swipe down” on the turn-by-turn list on the screen, it will show the full route and will auto zoom as you get closer to your destination. If you swipe up or leave turn-by-turn as the short list, it will...

Dyno Results for Model S refresh LR?

Interesting. When I said camera > USS I meant from the understanding that a camera would catch the front edge of the bumper. If no part of the car is included in the frame for reference, I agree it is of little utility. Can you see the lower edge of your front lip with this mount? The front...

At 6'-6", the thought of making the seat back more vertical gives me the heebee geebees.

Dyno Results for Model S refresh LR?

Why so hung up on USS? I have them on my '22 MSLR and frankly, I've never bothered to give much credit to them in the MS or any other car I've driven. What the MS is REALLY missing is a front bumper camera. That would make USS completely irrelevant.

My experience has been similar. Flawless car that I love.

    Square vs staggered

I actually don’t know the wheel width as I purchased the car as its 2nd owner. However, it’s running 275/35ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4’s.
  36. A

    Square vs staggered

My ‘22 MSLR has a 20” square setup and I love it…great compromise between aesthetics and ride comfort, plus the advantage to rotate tires.
  37. A

Are Arachnids OK, or should I consider Signature or T-Sportline Wheels as replacements for Tempest

Go with a 20” square setup. Better ride and the ability to rotate tires.

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

Agree. One benefit for sure over the stalk is the automatic clear.
  39. A

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

I meant that there’s still a horn “button” that you have to push, so the net change in sensors is….zero.
  40. A

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

The horn is the dumb one…it‘s not like the removed a “push” sensor, so why reinvent something to make it completely unintuitive (and arguably dangerous)? At least the “hold your hand over the whole right side” seems to work, but still 100% unorthodox.
  41. A

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

To me, the turn signals are the LEAST problematic issue with the stalkless approach. The horn and the yoke shape are more of a problem to me. I actually like the idea of not moving your hands off of the controls to initiate a turn, but as others have pointed out, sometimes the wheel is turned so...

    Replica wheels for '21-'22 refresh?

Thanks. Once Tesla did the refresh AND the headlight/taillight update, I was all on board with the MS over the M3P (it helped that I knew the Model 3 was getting a refresh and I didn’t want to buy the old one right before Highland was released). The only thing I missed, and apparently my car...

    Replica wheels for '21-'22 refresh?

Actually no, it’s on medium height. I had parked the car randomly running an errand and the idea to photograph it was impromptu when I saw the whole scene walking back to it. I wish I’d thought to lower it to its lowest setting! I do have the contact info for the prior owner (he traded it for...

    Replica wheels for '21-'22 refresh?

FYI, the images above are my car with the Ohm "Lightning" 20" wheels. As I mentioned, the former owner selected these, and I like them, but had I picked a set for myself, I probably would have chosen the T Sportline 20" Tesla Model S Long Range Wheels (seems generic, but that's what T Sportline...

    Replica wheels for '21-'22 refresh?

That would be ideal. The person I bought my ‘22 MS from had replaced the 19” with a custom 20” square setup. Perfect ride/sidewall compromise and I can also rotate them.
