Would you really though? The Rivian looks amazing and is exactly what I would like a electric truck to look like. The Tesla looks like a door wedge weird mobile! I get that its supposed to be all futuristic but its just love it or hate it territory, not something I desire at all.

Underestimate Nissan at your peril... They have the manufacturing base to pop these out pretty quickly and its quite a compelling car for places like Britain where you are not doing huge road trips all the time. The current Leaf is quite popular here already, I see loads on the road around me...

Thats totally awesome, love the plug in and play design. Lets hope this kind of system becomes more popular over time and the price reduces. For info, they do a 4kWh system as well for not much more money.

Jaguar is actually further ahead than most in terms of their electrification program. They have tried it before and are involved with the Formula E racing circuit too. I think you will be suprised by the expertise in the UK when it comes to electric power-train engineering.

In the UK, ecotricity just started charging after being free. They charge £6 a charge, where the gasoline equivalent is about £30. So I think your figure is wildly out.

Also don't forget people may be out of the house for a day or an evening. The solar panels can then charge even more to the battery instead of reaching the daily limit.

Should be pretty easy to work out... The cost to replace a roof in the UK is about £5 to 8k according to a quick google search. If you want a full Solar system setup you are probably looking at around 6k to 9K from experience on a detached property. So you would be looking at a total maximum...

I really don't see how their strategy of not building new electric cars and driverless technology fits. Surely you need electric cars with computing power to make the drivelers solution work?

The price recently went up as well due to exchange rate changes. So it does seem expensive right now especially when you look at the new 60 price in the US compared to Blighty!

I've got the same email, and have no reservation for the model 3. But you are right, its "only" a 30k bump and you would get the car quicker, and a better car I think. Its tempting if I had loads of money, but not supercar money ;)

Did you guys even read the original article? :) So the Electric models will continue, its just they are adding in autonomous technology as well!

Its not the same without clarkson, but I will tune in this week to check out their review. I'm surprised Tesla even let them have a demo model considering the history.

I'm not sure that's correct. I was insured on my parents car for years and had a crash. There was no problem with the insurance company at all.

If your going to buy an ICE car such as a Porsche then just bear in mind in 4 or 5 years time its going to look very "old" technology. Values for those types of cars go down rapidily in normal times, let alone on the verge of a electric car revolution.

Yep insure your parents or someone older as the primary person and add yourself as a named driver.

Interesting video where Diarmuid O'Connell pretty much confirms Tesla are looking to build a pickup next. I'm slightly surprised as these kind of vehicles really are not popular in most countries in the world other than the USA.

There is 1 in the UK as well, but just a demo unit. Welsh home installs UK's first Tesla Powerwall storage battery I suspect they are all trial units so far, and the version 2 will be the standard they roll out to customers.

Share price has just gone wild for this, its so tempting just to go reserve with that small amount of money, its a good price for us "normal" car buyers.

If I was going to end Range Anxiety, I would update the software so a circular area was drawn on the map showing chargers and range. Just a thought!

London has a requirement in the not to distant future for all new cabs to be capable of zero emissions so it will be interesting to see what happens in a few years for the private hire firms This is the new black taxi electric which also looks pretty cool. Shame about the 50 mile range though...

As terrible as this is, fatal crashes tend to make things much safer in the future. It sounds like they have a good idea on what happened so lets hope it improves the project in the years to come.

Been looking into this myself as I'm going to Norway for 4 days next year up to the Arctic circle boundary. Would love to know prices and locations that I could pick one up. Doing it a normal rental car would suck :) I see its now possible to drive from Oslo to Trondheim now just on...
