Interesting take on wrapping the Cybertruck

We don't do wraps. When customers ask about color change wraps, we make sure they understand that the original paint may never be the same and it is something that has to be replaced more often than you think. STEK and others are offering colored ppf wraps. If I was going to do color change, its...

Vendor Question: Tesla Charging Stations Opening to Other Brands

As Ford and GM negotiate with Tesla to ensure their network of chargers is available to their respective brands (obviously Ford has Launched and GM soon), I wonder how Tesla owners feel about this? Is this a "get your own" moment, or is this a moment when Tesla owners are happy to see the...

Vendor What Tesla Owners Should Expect from Their Local Detailer

I received an email from a long-time industry insider, whom I credited in our blog post. That email got me thinking about all the things we do and are getting ready to do for EV owners and the specialized knowledge it takes to work with EVs. Does your detailer have a level two charger on-site...

food for thought: is tint worse for range?

This post came up while I was doing some research today. First, let's talk about weight. A 100-foot tint roll weighs 11.5 pounds, 2.5 of which is packaging. That is a net weight of 9 lbs per 100 lft of 40" film (2 Mil Ceramic Film) . To tint all sides, windshield, and partial glass takes 14.5'...

Vendor So susceptible to damage, we include this spot for free - Protecting Tesla Paint.

Paint protection is not a uniquely Tesla issue. Without exception, vehicles benefit from paint protection films and ceramic coatings. Tesla's unique design and engineering create some unique needs for paint protection. This topic came up again on a recent customer's Model Y. We were installing a...

    Vendor Tesla Window Tinting

The days of window tinting just being about privacy are gone. If you are a Tesla owner, the days of purchasing cheap window tint should also be gone. Providing high-quality window tints on these extraordinary vehicles is not something you want to leave to amateurs or a company that is not used...

Vendor How to Protect and Enhance Your New Tesla

My name is Justin Krauss, and I am the Managing Member of Ceramic Pro Grand Junction / Auto Detailing 360. We get a lot of questions from new Tesla owners about what they should and should not do to protect or enhance their vehicles. We spent several hours last week helping a Tesla owner get the...

New Tesla Center coming to Gypsum, CO

Hey so we run a Ceramic Pro Elite Detail Shop in Grand Junction (I just paid my vendor registration fee with TMC, and I am waiting for my account to upgrade). I am wondering how I would connect with this shop. We offer full-service window tinting, ceramic coating, and paint protection film, as...

Ceramic Coating - Yes or No

In my personal and professional opinion, a Tesla needs ceramic coating and PPF. I will not go into ceramic and ppf brands here because I don't want people to think I am spamming the group. I am trying to answer questions that keep coming up - in a neutral way. This thread has quite a few. Bugs...

ceramic coating or transparent car wrap

Personally, I would not ever do or get a ceramic coating without a paint correction. Vehicles go through he** before they ever get to us: trucks, trains, inexperienced 'detailers' prepping vehicles for delivery. Even if your paint looks good to you, your professional detailer is going to see...

ceramic coating or transparent car wrap

The answer is YES. At a minimum, I would do what they call a partial front and a 7-year ceramic. I did the Ultimate Armor on my vehicle, and it is basically clear film over all the fenders, hood, bumper, door cups, and mirrors with a lifetime ceramic everywhere else. The key is finding a really...

Breaking rear quarter window with tint

If you have ever seen what happens to a windshield when it shatters.... A window tinted with a high-quality product should simulate that. Obviously it does not turn into a high-end laminated glass, but the glass tends to stay stuck to it.

Tinting, but not the roof or windshield?

If I were to do my window personally, I would use a 70% or 80% film, BUT it is not considered legal. It would be really really, really hard to know if that someone had an 80% film on their car. I am kind of a black-and-white person, though. Let's say a little kid jumps in front of my car, and it...

Tinting, but not the roof or windshield?

I hesitate to get into brands, but your upper-end brands like Ceramic Pro Elite dealers will have 60" film in IR and Ultimate IR that can cover the windshield or roof glass in a single piece. Most of the time, you can get by with 40% on the windshield.

Tinting, but not the roof or windshield?

First, when you are having a Tesla tinted anywhere on the vehicle, you want to make sure the shop is familiar with the Tesla. Tesla has soft glass, so you want to make sure they are using a plotter (except for the roof glass and the windshield). Roof glass and windshield can be cut using the...
