    Auto Refresh Plus, I believe.

    Vin Assignment Times?

My husband had set this up. Our VIN got assigned while we were out of the house; we found out on our phones. So in the end it didn't even matter!

    Vin Assignment Times?

We got ours between 5:30 and 7:30 PM on a Wednesday (2/28).

    It's not a Tesla. No.

    D impact on 0-60

All of the launch day test rides were done in dual motor models. It was definitely less than 6 seconds, but I don't know that they hit 60 in every ride. Sounds like a good excuse to rewatch those ride videos...

How could we NOT have Model 3 production by the end of 2017?

Taking on debt isn't the only way to increase capital. You can also sell equity (in the form of stock or other ownership options).
  9. Audrey

Why doesn't Tesla Motors accept cash payment?

I am doubtful of Tesla's ability to hit their target, but simultaneously hopefully production will scale significantly. I got my order in on the 31st, in person. I don't expect delivery until after October 2017. We'll see! Of course I am excited that they're working on accelerating the...

How could we NOT have Model 3 production by the end of 2017?

Tesla doesn't make every component itself. They are inexperienced with managing a supply chain of this scale. Some production will undoubtedly happen in late 2017, but the scale may not hit Tesla's initial or desired projections. The problems are supply chain, inexperience, and scale.

    Poll: Model 3 Front

The front of the 3 has significant impact on it's drag coefficient—that thingy they want to get down to 0.21. While I was not a fan at first, the styling of the 3 at the unveiling has grown on me. The same is true for the X (and now S) too. I trust Elon et al. to do their best to meet the mark...

Why doesn't Tesla Motors accept cash payment?

Nope. The physical store I refer to is the same one you test drove with: WA Square Mall. (:
  13. Audrey

Why doesn't Tesla Motors accept cash payment?

Are you referring to a physical store or the online store? I am talking about my experiences in a physical store. I bought a jacket several weeks before placing my model 3 order, in a physical store, and don't recall a PayPal option. But I could have just overlooked it. I am curious about this...

Why doesn't Tesla Motors accept cash payment?

Ours didn't when we plunked down for our model 3 reservation; it had to be a credit or debit card.
  15. Audrey

Why doesn't Tesla Motors accept cash payment?

The only thing that surprised me about Tesla's transaction system, was the lack of a PayPal option. :D

Motor Trend live at Gigafactory with Model 3 today!

This article is terrible. It's poorly written and the Apple fanboy word choice brings the quality down further. Some of their "specs" and "stats" are clearly wrong, as others here have already noted. The constant "FOLLOW US" social media ads are annoying. Sure, add that to the end of the video...
  17. Audrey

Who's the FIRST person you'll take on a ride in your Model 3?

Other than my husband, probably whoever ends up asking. I look forward to my dad getting a ride, but he lives further away.

    Souls are overrated anyway.

Has anyone else spent time calculating possible Model 3 pricing...

It's much like what others have already shared. If it were insightful I would share, but it's redundant.
  20. Audrey

Has anyone else spent time calculating possible Model 3 pricing...

If you're interested in the motors, here's how Tesla makes them. The model S' costs are R&D, the small scale of production, and luxury marketing pricing strategy. The motors do not cost $5000 to make, even now.
  21. Audrey

Has anyone else spent time calculating possible Model 3 pricing...

Right now dual-motor (listed as AWD on the model S spec site) is a $5000 upgrade. The motors for the 3 will likely be smaller. That's why I assume Elon said on twitter that AWD will be less than $5000 for the 3.
  22. Audrey

Has anyone else spent time calculating possible Model 3 pricing...

Yes. My husband and I have a spreadsheet. We're not 100% set on which options we'll choose. We have a top-end price we want to stay under; hopefully we can get all the options we want.

Eye-Catching Matte Black Tesla Model 3 Goes Out In The Wild

In the "first ride" videos from the launch event I thought the matte paint finish looked terrible. All I saw were finger prints everywhere.
  24. Audrey

Do you think we will have the option? Pick up from plant

As long as we don't have to pay CA sales tax, I'm happy to pick it up at the factory.
  25. Audrey

    Glass roof

The presentation by Elon suggested the glass roof is standard. They wanted the wow factor and headroom standard. The unveiling mentioned this starting about 13 minutes in, where Elon describes how it'll fit five adults comfortably. The first part of that comfort is moving the front seats...

Can my wife reserve under my name...

Probably not. Source: No Telsa accounts for in-store reservations
  27. Audrey

Making reservation for friend - conflicting info from Tesla - anyone know?

I'm not sure that point is important. The question is about the reservation. In theory, because I'm going with my husband to do the reservation, we could put it in my name but pay with his credit card. This can be done easily on Amazon or any online purchase. The shipping information...
  28. Audrey

Making reservation for friend - conflicting info from Tesla - anyone know?

They prioritize higher spec cars over your place in line. There have been numerous other threads discussing this and the tax benefit reverberations. Just because you reserve in person does not mean you'll get your car before someone that reserved online, necessarily.
  29. Audrey

Making reservation for friend - conflicting info from Tesla - anyone know?

If your friend cannot come to the store and you cannot place the reservation for the friend, then the fallback plan is just reserving online later in the day. I don't see the big deal. I personally will be at an opening event in person, but if I absolutely couldn't get the time off work, I'd...

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

The S' trunk opens up more like a 5-door, so I can see why you'd classify it that way. But the styling is that of a sedan, so that's what I call it. I prefer a hatchback over a sedan generally. Currently, hatchback is my car; sedan is the husband's... We met on a car forum. :)
  31. Audrey

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

    I consider the S a sedan, not a 5-door hatchback.
  32. Audrey

Making reservation for friend - conflicting info from Tesla - anyone know?

They're both right. You can likely put in a reservation for someone else if you have all of that person's information and if the sales associate assisting you allows it; I am doubtful that Tesla has a blanket policy, hence the conflicting information. I do know the stores have unlimited...
  33. Audrey

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

I'd be ecstatic if they did a 5-door hatchback for the model 3 launch. But that is not a sedan, and a sedan is what we were promised.
  34. Audrey

Maxed out Tesla M3 or 70D

I'd like a maxed out 3 over a low-spec S; I like that the 3 will be smaller. My only complaint about test driving the S was how boat-like it felt. Coming from a Ford Fiesta, it felt huge.
  35. Audrey

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

I completely agree. We won't see a coupe tomorrow; we'll see four doors and a traditional trunk. I do like the front, from the coupe picture, more than I like the X. So I'd be happy to see that element in the 3.
  36. Audrey

We want some Model 3 Leaks, renders, sketches !

The front nose is different from the S too. More X like, as predicted recently by the Electrek post.
  37. Audrey

Leaked Model 3 specs 0-60 in under 4 sec and 300+ mile range

Electrek is run by the same group that does 9-to-5 Mac — a site known for reliable information leaks. I think this article has good credence. I want all of it to be true in my heart, but not true in my wallet. Ugh.

    Model 3 Potential: Police Cars?

They're already interested in the S... so why not 3.
  40. Audrey

    But wait, there's more!

I don't know why they'd have to announce it. Tesla doesn't need to generate hoopla about the supercharger network. They can simply expand it, add locations to the map, and make no big announcements about it. At this point the supercharger network is background noise. For S and X owners it's...

    Let's do a spreadsheet for the 31st!

This would have been better as a Google form with protected sheet sections and unprotected sections ("comments on notes"). Easier to keep the data normalized... oh well. (: It's interesting to see, but captures such a tiny portion of what I expect we'll see at the stores.
  42. Audrey

Is PayPal an option as payment for the reservation?

Online PayPal may be accepted, but in store our representative said credit card only. That was a couple weeks ago now, so it may have changed. They will charge the reservation amounts via their normal in-store purchasing system (used for selling shirts and hats, et cetera).
  43. Audrey

Why bother to pre-order the new Model 3 (or whatever it is called now)

I don't mind if you don't want to pre-order. That just means they'll get to my ☰ sooner. (: I pre-order because I've been a Tesla fan for years, and am very excited to finally be able to afford one of their cars.
  44. Audrey

    Model 3 roll-out speculation

As the model S competes with other cars at the $70K price point, the model 3 should compete with other cars at the $35K price point. I expect it will be a $35K car in terms of styling, quality, and performance. Look at $35K sedans that exist and swap the engine for an all-electric motor. The...

Will You Love Your Model 3?

My husband and I met through a car forum. We both have Ford Fiestas of the same year, trim, and color. We do love our cars. Not as much as we love each other or the living beings in our lives, but as much as one loves any object we love our Fiestas. They're not perfect, but they're ours. We...

Model S/X Owners Have Priority Model 3 Orders Over Non-Owners

I'd guess the number of S/X owners also plunking down for a 3 will be minimal. Assuming you'll get the federal tax benefit is foolish. Even without priority reservations for S/X owners pre-orders, there's little guarantee you'll receive your 3 soon enough to claim the federal benefit. Only buy a...

If Model 3 doesn't look better than this...

Of the non-Tesla options for AEV, I like the Volt's styling more than most. I think, despite Elon's claim on Twitter about something unfamiliar, the 3 will look quite similar to the S. But smaller, of course.
