Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

I have two Powerwalls for backup only. No solar. They top off twice per 24 hrs for a short time. If there’s an outage the Powerwalls give me power using about 2% per hour (no AC). With this last outage of about 8 hours it didn’t take much to charge them back up. Unless she intends to do the full...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

I've programmed my smarthome system to turn off the outside lights when the grid goes down so it looks like I lost power like everyone else. No point painting a target on your back.

    Netzero App

Using Firefox with the web version I see the timescale cut off for all the graphs. Works fine in Safari.

Powerwall Widget Now Available for iOS

It's possible the latest Tesla app update is not showing by default in the App Store. Pull down when in your account in the App Store to see all the apps that are really available to update.

Powerwall Widget Now Available for iOS

I'm using it. Showing Home Power and Home Usage Today. Problem is none of the numbers ever match the app. The battery percentage seems to be always 1% off, the Home Power always seems to be many minutes behind and Home Usage seems to be .1 kWh off also. It's probably an update polling time issue...

    Powerwall Firmware 23.44.0 eb113390

My Gateway updated to 23.44 last night. Nothing seems to have changed. I can still access the gateway directly from its IP address. My HomeSeer plug-in is still functioning. Netzero still reports all the same information it used to including the gateway diagnostics. I don't have solar, just 2 x...

PGE rate plan to go with if I have Powerwall but no solar

Recently had 2 Powerwalls installed with no solar. Purely for back up. There's no ROI plan, I didn't care about the money, I just got tired of the power outages and generators were out based on so many factors. Here in Texas our electricity is unregulated so we have a bazillion companies...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

I wanted them closer. The Installation manual states that they should be a minimum of 10" apart for airflow. Then you have to take into account the studs on 16" centers and this was the closest I could get them.

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Thought I'd give an update on this since everyone was so kind answering my questions. I think I read this mode of operation was only allowed starting with the IRA on Jan 1st, 2023 (along with the tax credit) so maybe that's why it's hard to find other folks that use this configuration. It's...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Does CenterPoint Energy allow the use of the Tesla Backup Switch in the meter? Seems like a tidier install if it does.

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Just kind of curious how long the normal wait time is before first contact from Tesla after placing an order and uploading the utility bill. Is it days, weeks, months? Just trying to set my expectations.

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Thanks. That was amazingly easy. I placed my order. How do you know which Powerwalls you are getting, it only says Powerwall in the order. Hoping that means Powerwall 2.

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

I did leave out a lot of information .. sorry! One person, 2 story house. Everything is gas powered except the AC of course. I just need the electric spark to ignite the gas. I estimate usage to be approx < 1kWh during the day without AC. I am going to get 2 x PW2 installed. I've lived here for...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

New here, first post. Want to install a couple of PWs to use as backup power only. No solar. Just charge from the grid and provide whole house backup when the power goes out. There must be something wrong with this concept because I can’t find anyone doing that. Aside from being expensive, what...
