    Fix Gemini curb rash in-situ

Great video. I used some of his techniques, but since the damage was limited to the outer rim, using a sander and polish was all that was needed. It's not perfect, but sure good enough for me. Thanks for the reference

    Fix Gemini curb rash in-situ

Likely typical curb rash around the raised outer rim. Is there a convenient way to grind/polish out the rash, then tape off the polished areas, then reseal - and do this while the tire is still on the wheel? I'm using the damaged wheel as a spare, so it does not have to be perfect.

The perfect Model 3 emergency jack?

I found that modifying my 2013 Acura RDX jack worked well. I drilled and installed a large washer, a Husky 5/8" x 3/8" drive socket, held by a M8 Allen head screw/nut. Took some grinding to enlarge washer hole and shorten the socket, but fit was great. The jack drive needed to be edge ground...

Navigate on Autopilot/TACC drops MAX speed without any obvious reasons

On a recent trip from Houston to Canyon Lake TX, most of the speed limit signs were not recognized. A few in smaller town at lower speeds where recognized, but when on open rural roads going out of the lower speed limits, the signs were consistently not recognized - although in plain sight...

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

The actual grant contract was sent to me mid January by email for signature. So took essentially 2 months from final contract.

lexus toyota ev - zero competition for tesla

How's the 24 MYLR compared to the '23? Hope all are OK. If Musk will add the Cybertruck bidirectional PCS to the MYLR, I'm trading up.

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

Likely way understaffed and possibly either a reluctance to deplete the source of funding or problems getting the source🤔. They have been very responsive to emails.

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

I did check again on my grant last week and was told they are working to send out checks and will be 60-90 days (now about 60 days from when originally told the 30-90 days). They did say it may be longer as they are very busy. My guess is at this point that if you have not been sent the actual...

lexus toyota ev - zero competition for tesla

Was able to take a brief look at a new Toyota Bz4X today while checking out a used Tacoma for my Son-in-law. Quite modernistic and attractive to look at. The interior was attractive, but certainly not luxurious at all. Did not seem nearly as functional as my 2023 MYLR with a smaller screen...

How is it Possible my 2023 MYLR Trade in value is so low?

There is a used EV tax credit of up to $4000. The hitch is that an individual must go through an on-line dealer, so the deal will qualify as a "dealer" sale. Also, there are (like the $7500) specific tax qualifications. It worked for me to sell my Nissan Leaf. It worked very well and adds a...

    Chill vs Standard batt drain?

Has anyone found a plot of accelerator position vrs kW power for both chill and standard? Is it more complex than a simple position relationship to power, like, say how fast the accelerator pedal is accelerated😄? Got to admit, our 2023 MYLR was purchased for my wife and I've never put it in...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

I was very interested in the Lightning backup system - and then realized that the "bidirectionality" (energy out via DC ports of CCS) was off-grid only using Delta BDI hybrid inverters for home backup. I do not believe that the Ford's HV battery can be recharged (say by excess solar) as the...

    Any scratch repair expertise?

I ordered the "Dr Colorchip" in Red Multi-coat. My Son has used it with good results on his F-150 - medium grey. It takes a "learning curve" so I'm hoping we'll be able to successfully fill the scratch - might take a few tries. I'll post any results.

    Any scratch repair expertise?

In big trouble. Carelessly scratched my wife's "baby" backing it out of the garage. To add insult, it was the Weber grill that I carelessly left too far into the garage door area! Anyway, now I have a fairly deep, but very thin scratch in the Model YLR red paint. See the pic. Any suggestions...

    Can Tesla Make a Difference?

Thanks - I am planning on contacting the foundation, although my research did not show much past support from this "grant" organization. I need both equipment and expertise to have a successful application in a basically impoverished area, so hoping someone in the Tesla organization would step...

    Can Tesla Make a Difference?

There is a hospital in Guinea Africa that cares for their Countries' children - essentially the only place in that Nation where true pediatric medicine can be obtained. As the facility becomes more giving/complex, the need for a stabilized energy/power that is islandable is needed. Is there...

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

Good to know that you are included in the 2000 available grants. As I applied in October, and have been told the "check is in the mail", I wondered how long before applicants are outside the 2000 limit. I'm guessing yours's was dated in November. If anyone gets denied, it would be interesting...

    leaf nissan experience

Having both Gen 1 and 2 Leafs, I agree wholeheartedly with comments. However, having decided to own only one EV, our new MYLR is a definitive step up IMO - and at a great price with Fed and Tx state incentives on top of recent price reductions. I did sell the Gen 2 (great little suburban...

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

MYLR was purchased late September. Applied for grant in late October. I did the tax pay and vehicle registration myself.

Anyone received the TCEQ $2500 Grant Money for buying an EV in Texas?

Received the confirmation letter and "grant contract" yesterday via email. The payment should be made in 30-90 days. I did have a signed copy by Tesla rep of the purchase contract as part of the application. Note that you must keep the EV for a year from application date.

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

Possibly I'm off-base on this, but seems that use of the generator (with solar that is DC coupled) would be a function of the inverters - in an off-grid mode. Does it have a "generator" input as most hybrid inverters provide? If AC coupled (my limited Powerwall knowledge),I'm sure you'll get...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

dcbel has promised full V2X with both CHAdeMO and CCS connections (DC based) for several years, but continue to seemingly struggle with "certification" issues. Not sure they'll stay in business to provide a true vehicle based microgrid. SolarEdge is promising a similar AC coupled system. Does...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

If one the technical issue is "240 VAC split phase" bidirectionality via the J-1772 connection, with inherent bonding issues of neutral/ground, do you believe this can be resolved with an autotransformer at the wall connector, or maybe by the new cybertruck PCM in concert with the wall...

Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

My guess is this is fairly common for relatively short dead end runs (~1 mile) in rural coop type installs. I have two solar systems and voltages are always above 240 VAC. The earth ground is at the meter pole. I was actually surprised at the reasonable cost to install, especially with all...

Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

Quoting Wayne "Not sure about this part, it varies, but I would be surprised if it is as low as 700 VAC on the primary side of the first transformer upstream of your house. I would think 2.4 kV would be a more likely minimum. But my familiarity with this part of the utility network is limited."...

Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

Wayne; My understanding is that my (US) home is fed by a ~700 VAC single phase wire (no ground wire). The "transformer" at the pole I have assumed is center tapped wire coils made specifically to produce ~240 split phase to my utility meter/disconnect/home panel. I understand that this "split...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

As I have an OpenEVSE charge controller ( EVSE - Tesla calls it their wall connector), my adaptor is J1772 to NACS - to charge my new model Y. If the reverse adapter (NACS to J1772) works with the "Tesla Wall Connector", then it appears the difference in the "Universal TWC" is mainly the...

    Tesla Vision

A basic question about "Tesla Vision" - does the "visualization" when on FSD closely represent the actual information used by FSD for make driving decisions (if this question even makes sense)? What I've noticed is that if so, it explains (to me) why certain situations seem critically dangerous...

How is it Possible my 2023 MYLR Trade in value is so low?

We were offered $13,000 trade in for my 2021 Leaf SV+ when we recently purchased a red MYLR. Although convenient to do the trade with tax advantage, etc, I decided to "private sell". Luckily I found an on-line dealer that acts as a trusted seller intermediary and sold it for $21,950 😁. This...

  37. Marktm250

Powerwalls now available for direct order

Similar to my experience with NIssan - only they have a section in their manual that Nissan itself could not even "speak it into existence". As CHAdeMO has workable protocols for tapping into the DC power/energy (Setec), buying a Leaf purely for energy storage (and occasional vehicular use)...

Should Tesla fully refund FSD owners in UK

My recent exigence using the free 3 months of FSD in my MYLR absolute confirms 2020M35R,s comments. When passengers are yelling "turn it off" after I had to prevent the "drive in front of another oncoming vehicle" several times, it's simply too dangerous even if it sharpens your awareness...

Powerwalls now available for direct order

Anyone recently purchased PWs in the Texas ERCOT based utilities, specifically in the Houston TX area (although will likely apply to any Texas provider except locked-in/coops)? Would my recent purchase of a MYLR and ability to change to Tesla's energy contract at any time make this attractive...

Advice needed for Tesla Rooftop Solar - TIA!

The fact that he has the Powerwalls might help his economic analysis. Advice needed for Tesla Rooftop Solar - TIA!

Having 7 years experience in South East TX with two solar systems, the overall average has been 3.3 hours full rated panel production/per day. I'd guess LA would be somewhat better as we get many more rainy days. 3 does seem low. Not having any knowledge of your electricity plan, it would...

The DOJ Tesla probe has expanded to include EV driving ranges

My MYLR stats on a recent trip of mainly highway, with some inner city. Tires at about 45 psi. Temps averaging mid 80's. 65/70 max mph highway: 240 watts/mile => 78000/240=325 miles. What's the "real" range? I question if I have 78 kWh available for any trip - even charging to 100%, there's...

    Power seat knob falling off

The passenger side vertical power seat knob keeps falling off on my new Model Y. I seems to not click into its receptacle properly - even when pushed in quite forcefully. Nothing seems broken on the switch itself. Anyone had this issue? Likely need to set up a repair appointment, I'd guess.
