Front suspension creak when turning but Tesla says normal

Doesn't making a hole to inject grease cause dirt to go into the part, making it more prone to noise relatively quickly afterwards? The point of the rubber boot is to protect the joint from getting dirt inside. Usually, these things should have grease fittings.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I can't sell it without losing a significant amount of money. I was so excited about the Model X that I even paid for a full PPF on it. Definitely can't sell it now at least for a couple of years. I'm trying to like my Model X, but it's getting more and more difficult to now that there are more...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Exactly! Why are people trying to compare this car to a luxury vehicle? It's clearly not.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I'm surprised that everyone is considering Tesla a luxury vehicle, when in my experience, luxury vehicles have much better build quality. In fact, I can argue that the Tesla build quality is worse than the Japanese and Korean brands, even compared to my Ford Mach E GT which I had in 2021. To...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Thanks for reaffirming this for me. At $80k, a new Tesla Model X in 2023 costs 66% higher than the average cost of a new vehicle.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

This is what I mean when I mentioned that EV's are really good for those who own a home with a garage and use the EV for commuting. However, what you're describing is also perfect for PHEVs. I can basically commute to work in a PHEV and never have to refill gas, but yet also can use gas for...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I don't understand this logic. We do all read these pros and cons. However, I also read from tons of people (like you) who state that they have had no issues with the car so far. I was convinced by the MAJORITY of this forum that the 2023 models were way higher build quality than prior years and...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I agree. The other issue with manufacturers and dealers is that BEV has very little maintenance, therefore taking a LOT of the profits out of the dealers as they make significantly more on service than anything else. That's why many dealers are reluctant to sell EVs as well. I'm pretty sure all...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Well, we need two cars for commuting to work for each of us, and then a bigger one with more seats when we have to take more family members out with us. Honestly, I don't forsee ICE vehicles dropping like a rock for at least the next ten years. I don't see EV's actually overtaking ICE for a...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

On my Jeep GC 4xe, the engine will kick in when you floor it, but once you're cruising on the roads, battery is enough. Have you driven a PHEV? The engine only kicks in when you want to accelerate like a madman. Eventually, once the battery runs out, then the engine will always kick on, but...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

The bigger pain in the butt is like I want to travel cross country for road trips. I do not want to be hunting for charging stations which may be few and far in between especially in areas with less population. There are still not nearly enough of them to be able to travel comfortably anywhere I...
  12. M

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

That would only would matter to me if I wanted to use the charging network for roadtrips, but I don't. The whole benefit of paying less for electricity than gas goes out the window when it comes to using charging network outside of your own home. The inconvenience of waiting at a charging...

Short life with my Tesla MX

It depends. If your income went over in 2023, but not in 2022, you can get tax credit in 2023. You will not in 2024 if you make more than $300k combined since 2022 in AGI.
  14. M

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Not sure what this comment has anything to do with the thread. I own a Model X, and would actually rather prefer a BMW iX now that I've owned Model X for 2 months. At prices of over $80k, I would like to see more luxury features and quietness on the drive. BMW iX has more range, more comfort...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Honestly, we can't really predict anything for 2024. Thinking that the price will not go up in 2024 is kind of a fallacy. Also, the tax credit may even end in the blink of an eye when Congress decides to change tax credit regarding EVs again. It was unexpected for the tax credit to change back...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Well it did, couple days ago when the X increased in price for other colors except stealth gray. They also increased the price in October for the MXP by $5k. Yes, prices may eventually come down, or it may not. It really depends. If war breaks out or another pandemic happens and everything...

Short life with my Tesla MX

I believe you would qualify for another tax incentive, as long as you meet the income requirements and the SUV MSRP has to be less than $80k. There's nothing about a limit of how many you can claim per year for new vehicles, You can only claim the used EV tax credit once every 3 years. As for...

Short life with my Tesla MX

I hope you have uninsured/underinsured coverage in case the other person’s insurance doesn’t have enough and you have to cover the rest, although if your insurance has to pay out it will screw your premiums over even if it wasn’t your fault. I also hope you had GAP insurance if you financed the...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Yeah possibly. We’ll see maybe only new orders aren’t getting tax credit.
  20. M

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Exactly, but it wouldn’t make sense for Tesla to increase the price all of a sudden now so they can drop it in a week or two. It would likely be months before another drop when they’ve evaluated how much more cost cutting they could do. Again, Model X has probably been a sore pain in the butt...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

It’s based off of MSRP at time of delivery. For 2023 it is different, but the new 2024 models, I suspect only the stealth gray would be eligible for tax credit.
  22. M

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Actually, I forgot to mention, Tesla DID increase the price of the Model Y a couple days after that price drop in October 2023 as well. It was only by a couple hundred, but it did increase. Now I'm guessing they're trying to drop the prices of Model Y soon, as they've just dropped in China and...

Inconsistent humming/buzzing sound when constant speed

Why did you switch from BMW iX to Model X? I'm considering getting a BMW iX.
  24. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

If the 2024 models are going to drop it’ll be a couple more months. There’s no reason to increase the prices now so they can drop the price in two weeks. In fact, history usually shows the opposite for Tesla. They usually drop the prices, then realize it was too low, then increase it slightly...
  25. M

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Because they’re desperate to clear out 2023 models for the 2024 models. This isn’t new to Tesla. They did that with Model 3/Y as well in the end of 2022/2023. They’re willing to take a hit on profits for only the couple hundred vehicles in inventory. If the 2024 models are going to drop in...

If you look at his prior posts, it was a 2023 VIN that he picked up.

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Does anyone notice that the Model X does NOT have any side window defogger, that exists in every other car? I couldn't defog the side windows when I was driving last night and noticed there are NO vents for the side windows to defog?

Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive (new Crossclimate competitor)

I have the Scorpion WeatherActives on my Model X. Really amazing tire. I live in the PNW and it's been raining here daily. I have not experienced any issues. There is tire noise in the first 250 miles, but then went away. Overall, these tires are about the same/better than CrossClimate 2's...

    Is This "In Spec?"

This is the type of experience that really pisses me off, and why Tesla should never be considered a luxury brand although everyone else keeps touting it as a luxury brand. Even non-lux brands allow you to even look inside. It doesn't take long to just wipe it down again.
  30. M

    Is This "In Spec?"

I think I would try to test drive it first to see if there is any wind noise or squeaks or any leaks. Obviously if it's there ,then it would be an instant reject for me.
  31. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Thanks for your input. Not sure how your input really adds any value either. Not saying I am any special either. So it is quite presumptuous of you to assume this as well. My guess is that quite a significant amount of people are experiencing higher premiums on a Tesla. Yes, n=1 from me, but...
  32. M

    Is This "In Spec?"

Yeah, I'll keep repeating this everytime. There is no perfect Model X. Every one of them will have issues. It's up to you with which one bothers you more. Some SC are good at fixing these issues, others will say it's within spec.
  33. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Again, context. I believe EVs cost more to insure than ICE counterparts. I was making the comparison between ICE and EV, and how Tesla makes it a huge deal on their website in terms of 'gas savings' but then forgets to mention how much more it costs to insure an EV over another ICE vehicle of...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

I'm comparing the cost of insuring my 2023 Model X to my 2022 Acura MDX SH-AWD Advance. The price difference was pretty massive- it costs about 3 times more to insure my Model X than the Acura MDX. In fact, my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and Acura MDX (both $65k vehicles) costs less combined to...
  35. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Not only Tesla does that with the "potential gas savings," but they fail to disclose that insurance rates for these are absolutely bonkers, basically negating the potential gas savings with any other similarly priced ICE vehicle...lol. Tesla does only disclose things to their benefit. That's...

    2024 VINs?

Hmm, it looks like most cars are going full touchscreen nowadays. I was really eyeing the X5 50e as my lease for the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is ending by Jan 2025. My list is basically X5 50e, Lexus RX500h, or basically another full EV like BMW iX or MB EQS.

Model X - Driver door flying open

Yeah, never file a claim with your own insurance provider. It will raise rates regardless of fault. You need to file a claim with Tesla instead. Unfortunately, knowing what Tesla is like, they'll probably refuse to pay out, saying it's "user error." Plus. Tesla insurance is known to increase...

23' Red Color - PPF, Ceramic Coating?

Pretty expensive. In Portland, a Full PPF AND front window tinting with ceramic tint only cost me $4700. They do full front for $1395. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/marketplace/paint-protection-tesla-discount.714/

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Someone on this thread posted specific guidelines for that, and you couldn’t reject a VIN for any reason for that FSD transfer to my understanding. But again, rules keep changing. During that time you had to have orders placed before Sept 30th.
  42. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

With the FSD transfer back in September, Tesla made it clear that you cannot reject a VIN or else you’ll lose the transfer. You can see it in prior posts (not going to go back to look through this in this thread.) It is most likely they’ll do the same. If they have a car available and you won’t...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

https://www.tesla.com/support/supercharger-transfer According to this, you lose the transfer by rejecting a VIN if you do not pick up by Dec 31, 2023. They did the same thing with the FSD transfer back in September 2023. People have lost their transfer for FSD by rejecting the VIN. It's pretty...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Alright, interesting that they put this recall on the news on software that's already updated. My 2023 Model X delivered from last month is still stuck on 2023.44.1, so mine hasn't been applied yet.
  47. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Did anyone see this? This applies for the Model X and S. This is going to delay deliveries again until it is updated. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/tesla-is-recalling-120000-vehicles-in-the-us-over-a-door-safety-issue-114540716.html...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

The only reason it looks semi-gloss to you because of the darker gray color and not caught in the light. It's actually super shiny gloss, not semi-gloss. It's not actually satin/matte. Here's another comparison: Again, to get it satin/matte it has to be ppf or wrapped. If that picture doesn't...
  49. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Judging by your picture and others with stealth gray, it sure looks like gloss to me. The only way to get it satin/matte is to get ppf for it. The place near me does it for $4800 for full ppf in matte or gloss with Suntek Ultra.
  50. M

    Deliveries of $80k X?

As repeated many times in this thread, no there is still no front camera, and still no ambient LED strip lighting. It'll unlikely happen for the next several months until the orders die down and Tesla is able to catch up to demand on the Model X. No point in changing their manufacturing process...
