I had a look at the official roro records for Gioia Tauro port and there is no evidence that it has been ever used for Tesla shipments. It make sense since the port is located deep south and most Tesla SC are far away in the North of the country. Capodistria / Koper is far nearer

update: VIN received 4 October Today I paid the car and as a next step I should receive the number plate to arrange insurance for the car prior to delivery Delivery date 27 October in Padua (Italy)

The VIN check only works with Höegh Autoliner and their ships like HOEGH TROOPER (she is carrying MS and MX) It doesn’t work with the other carriers (that are carrying the M3)

I believe that everybody that has a car assigned on board of the two ships has by now received a VIN

I’m interested in the Asian Captain that will cover Italy, Austria, part of Germany, Switzerland, etc. My car is probably aboard that ship so I hope to have soon the VIN since it arrives only 5 days later. At present we don’t have confirmation for other shipments to Europe.

It seem that those are for the CRYSTAL RAY, covering mainly the northern area of Europe . I guess we need to wait a few days more for ASIAN CAPTAIN since it's scheduled to arrive 5 days later.

Aha, you are right for the inbound journey 👍😊 The maritime boundaries in the area have a long history of fighting over. Most recently Slovenia was preventing Croatia from joining EU over them. If you have the opportunity, visit Trieste for the Barcolana regatta, next is Oct 8, 2023

That’s not the case: she will enter Italian waters in her final approach to Koper/Capodistria in the Gulf of Trieste. All big ships do that. 😉 Koper/Capodistria is adjacent to Trieste and the approach it’s the same. It could have been a problem 35 years ago when Yugoslavia still existed but...

Koper (Capodistria) is literally on the border with Italy, a stone's throw from Trieste. Considering that most Italian Stores are in North Italy, it makes sense to use Koper/Capodistria instead of Gioia Tauro that it's deep south
