Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

Good to hear first hand experience with it. Thanks.

Thanks for that link. I think I'll do that.

Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

Sorry, I don't get email updates showing that my threads have been replied to so I don't always check in here regularly. I did jack it up and look at the whole length before I took that video. There is no damage to the battery. Good thought though, thanks.

Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

That’s great info. Thanks. And I agree, anytime damage occurs, at the very least one can say one should have been more careful to be more appropriate for the conditions involved. I could have been more careful with the knowledge that the road has been recently graded and that it could have...

Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

One of the following videos is going to depict a totally foreign driving environment for probably everyone who reads this thread. Many of you will say I should be driving a Jeep or an Expedition or a pickup or whatever that is more designed for these roads. I'm getting off-track of the point of...

Why is advertised ground clearance different than actual ground clearance?

Kinda hard to do that before you order the car. 2” higher ground clearance than my minivan is one of the primary reasons we went with a Model Y. Finding out out advertised ground clearance is inaccurate after the fact is something I’d like to avoid in future vehicle purchases. Just wanting to...

Why is advertised ground clearance different than actual ground clearance?

Before I bought our late 2023 MYLR 7 seater with the base Gemeni wheels, I did some research on ground clearance. Owners manual says 6.8” as shown in these screenshots: After trying to get my 5 ton floor jack under there I’m quite convinced that is not accurate at least in front of the...

Who uses an alternative to Rennstand jack stands for rotating tires and other work on their Tesla?

I don’t know if you have ever used a floor jack or any jack to lift something that is near the max capacity of what the jack will do but it gets a bit sketchy. Like the jack will do it but it’ll be straining to do it to the point where you feel uncomfortable with the situation. In my experience...

Who uses an alternative to Rennstand jack stands for rotating tires and other work on their Tesla?

The nearest discount tire to where I live is 192 miles. I live in a rural area. We do have a good high volume tire shop 30 minutes from my location but they don’t do free tire rotations. I only know of one other Tesla within 100 miles of me. There are likely others but even if there are and...

I’m all for that idea. That is an awesome thread. Thanks!

Who uses an alternative to Rennstand jack stands for rotating tires and other work on their Tesla?

Does anyone do anything different than Rennstand? I wonder about just buying four hydraulic jacks and then making a mechanical block for the hydraulic jacks so that it can't fall down even if there is a hydraulic failure. Something like one of these: https://www.proeagle.com/products/jack-lock...

How to mount Universal Wall Charger

I have a pedestal mount on order but I’m unsure if I’m going to use it. It doesn’t really provide a location to mount a 14-50 outlet so I feel I’ll have to have something ugly there to mount the 14-50 regardless. My main breaker is a 200 amp breaker box. Maybe you’re right that running...

Tesla 2023 model y completely dead while super charging

Since the window isn’t working I can see why you would say the low voltage battery has failed. On the other hand, the screen would also be powered by the low voltage battery. Maybe the battery had enough juice to power the display but not enough juice to power the window?

Tesla 2023 model y completely dead while super charging

That sounds miserable. I'm not sure I understand everything. Savannah is southeast of Atlanta but Duluth is northeast so I don't really understand why you went to Duluth. Maybe you just found a hotel there that was near a SuperCharger? It also seems like Duluth to Savannah is more like 270...

How to mount Universal Wall Charger

Is there a good place where people discuss how they are mounting and installing their EVSE? I know to have an electrician do it but different electricians have different strategies to accomplish the same basic task. For example, a lot of electricians might just use a $15 14-50 when most of us...

New EV owner: how do you prepare for unusual situations?

I am a bit confused about jumping the low voltage side if it’s dead. Isn’t the lithium low voltage battery like 16 or 18V? How do I jump that with the 12V system on an ICE car? Even when running it’s unlikely an ICE will be putting out much more than 14V…

New EV owner: how do you prepare for unusual situations?

Thanks. I’m not familiar with PPF. I did a Google search and kinda got a basic idea but I wonder if some sources are higher quality sources than others. Where should I look?

New EV owner: how do you prepare for unusual situations?

I live well over 200 miles from the nearest service center and I’m hoping to not rely on them much at all. Will be picking our new MY up today and I’m just trying to get prepared for unusual situations. So far this is my list: 1. Will be buying a 19” Gemini wheel and tire from someone on FB...

Are the 19” Gemini wheels the same for all years?

Are there any difference in the 19” Gemini wheels for the Model Y through the years? Bought an inventory Model Y with 19” Gemini wheels out of Denver and I have to go take delivery soon. Was hoping to find a scuffed up wheel someone replaced for cosmetic reasons so I could use it as a spare when...

Tesla will not Sell you vehicle without proof of residence in state where car is located.

Edit: I put this thread post in a different place and it was merged into this thread because it was similar. I had not previously been able to find this thread but it does appear this thread answers my questions. Thanks.

Any rhyme or reason on inventory pricing?

Looking for a MY7 LR in blue with a tow hitch and the normal wheels and white interior. A few days ago I saw some in inventory that were close to $3K off. Now those ones are basically no discount and the ones with black interiors and upgraded rims (both of which I don't want) are close to $4K...

Can You completely turn off Traction Control?

Have you tried it in off-road mode? I don't own a Tesla but have been strongly considering a Model Y. Due to living in a rural area, I need to force a LOT of tire spin just to keep from getting stuck. I am hopeful that off-road mode will help me with that but from what you're describing...

How much energy does pre-conditioning take?

That is a fascinating reply. Thanks. I'm looking at the month of January temp records (in Fahrenheit) for 2022 in my area: - There were 2 days at or below 0 at 7 AM - There was 1 day between 0 and 5 at 7 AM - There were 4 days between 5 and 10 at 7 AM - There were 2 days between 10 and 15 at 7...

How does your miles/kWh change as your speed changes?

I’m comparing to what I would get with my current vehicle so I know the fuel economy it gets in my driving situation. Just trying to get an estimate of how a Model Y will do in the same conditions. I can do the calculations from miles/kWh to kWh and I can adjust for charger efficiency levels...

How does your miles/kWh change as your speed changes?

Thanks I am just flat out guessing. People will say what they are getting overall but they rarely say what they’re getting at various speeds, at least that I have found. Is there a source where this info is more readily available?

How does your miles/kWh change as your speed changes?

While I'm at it, what percent change is there if I'm running in 30 degree F weather? What about 10 degrees F? Thanks.

How much energy does pre-conditioning take?

If it's 10 degrees F outside and I pre-condition the vehicle while it's plugged in, how much energy will that take? I'm assuming maybe 40 amps for 20 min or 3.2 kWh? I'm looking at buying a Model Y LR and I'm comparing it to energy costs for an ICE vehicle. Trying to nail down all costs. Thanks.

How does your miles/kWh change as your speed changes?

I'm considering a Model Y and I'm doing an energy cost comparison to an ICE vehicle. There are specific speeds I drive at on a weekly basis. Below are the speeds I drive and what I anticipate for efficiency at those speeds. Am I in the ballpark? 22 miles of dirt roads weekly (average 40 mph)...

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

If I’m willing to drive a long ways to take delivery and if I’m willing to wait until close to quarter/year end, is it likely that there will be discounts from Tesla to pad their end of quarter/year sales numbers? Wanting to buy a MY 7 seater long range without missing out on the tax credit...

Tax credit 2023 [The tax credit discussion thread]

Tesla site says tax credit may not be available for 2024 MY’s. I assume this is because the country of origins percentages might change for 2024’s? I’m interested in buying a new MY. Kinda hoping to wait until closer to the end of the year to increase the odds of a quarter/year end discount...
