Model Y Spare Tire problem solved

Reading this thread, good information here. I'm thinking about how to manage the spare situation. Some YouTube videos show people cutting up the trunk area to securely place the spare under the trunk floor cover, but I'm not ready to go there yet.

1st flat less than 1k miles

Yesterday had our 1st flat tire within a month and 1,000 miles of ownership. Not very lucky, but the last flat we got was 7 years ago when our Acura was 2 months old. Anyway, the low pressure message showed up on the Tesla app after the car was parked in the garage, so luckily don't have to...

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

Have you checked Amica? I recently switched to them and they were very reasonable compared to my current carrier. Recommendation came from BMWCCA, where members get a discount.

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

The after market developments could probably make the current vehicles ride better. I think the Koni Special Active shocks combined with softer springs would help. There are some threads about the Koni already. Tirerack shows the Koni Special Active shocks are a direct fit. In terms of...

Gemini Tire replacement - anything better than OEM? (all season)

From what I can recall from an expert on tire wear: ease off when starting from standing still, and have fun in the twisties. For whatever the reason, those who baby the car don't wear out the tires evenly. Also, manufacturer recommended 42 psi is the highest of all the cars I've owned so...

Koni - Special Active (Red - Formerly FSD) and Sports (Yellow) - Coming Soon for Model 3 and Y

I saw the Motortrend review of the new Tesla model 3 Highland use frequency selective dampers. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2024-tesla-model-3-highland-suspension-changes-deep-dive/#:~:text=Koni%20developed%20the%20idea%20in,patents%20on%20selective%2Dfrequency%20valves. This is will...

Gemini Tire replacement - anything better than OEM? (all season)

I have used the Conti Extremecontact all season on my bimmer for years and very happy with them.

    Traffic aware cruise control behavior

Is there a way to control the acceleration/deceleration of the Telsa, especially in heavy traffic? Not just distance of following. In highway rush hour, I want the car to behave like being driven by a chauffeur, not a teenager boy, and not spill my coffee. This is a problem when the cars...

Spare tire - Modern vs StanceMagic vs Tsportline

I noticed the Stance spare shows size 155/85R18, while the other 2 show 145/85/18. Does that matter?

Koni - Special Active (Red - Formerly FSD) and Sports (Yellow) - Coming Soon for Model 3 and Y

I've heard good things about Koni Active (FSD) on other cars (BMW etc.) with stock springs. I guess every car is different. Would love to hear more experiences.

    Best Mud Flaps Head-to-Head comparison?

I got mine from Teslarati. $50 for a set of 4. Tesla Model Y Mud Flaps (4 piece complete set) Then I got my car and it came with factory mud flaps, which don't look that great IMO. But I'll keep them since they are free. I installed the rear ones; no drill needed, not difficult to do (I'm...

Phone Holder Recommendations for Model Y

Seems like this is a nice set up - no adhesive needed and no magnetic stuff.

Do Model Y windshield and windows have UV protection?

I got the car front windows tinted with 25% Llumar ceramic film, and 6 inch 15% on the windshield. Match the rest of the car well.

Why do people use their phone in the car as if they were outside the car?

Yes. And similarly, an in-person meeting is different from a zoom session.

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Let's hear how it goes. I guess until Tesla decides to change or a big company decides to meet the demand, it'll just be niche products.

Why do people use their phone in the car as if they were outside the car?

It's amusing that all the technology still can't recognize voice well. Anyway, studies have shown that calling via bluetooth in the car is almost as distracting as using the phone directly. It's not the physical part, it's the mental part. The brain is somewhere else during a call. Or...

Aftermarket Tesla CarPlay and Android Auto Devices

Once you have it, please provide a review. I looked at Amazon for options and nothing really stands out. I have an aftermarket Carplay unit in my old Honda and it's very simple to use; wireless Carplay connection to my iPhone, sound comes through a radio frequency.

Do Model Y windshield and windows have UV protection?

Just got my MY. Wondering how much to tint. My Acura SUV previously got matched tint to rear windows in terms of darkness and it was about 20%. Works great in the day, however at night it was getting difficult for me to see clearly when I go in and out of the garage, due to mid age. How do...
