When will trial start rolling out?

So how would this affect currently subscribed users with an end date in April? I had purchased a month to try it out and my sub ends before April is up. 2020 Model 3 SR+ on 2024.2.7 with HW3 and USS

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

traditional radar would probably help with TACC specifically

    Rivian R3 Compact

Will any of these companies get out a decent new $25k car, if ever? I can only think of the Chevy Bolt which is now discontinued afaik.

    Rivian R3 Compact

College students can afford cars more than $2k? 😂

    Honest review of the Cybertruck

I'm gonna need a week demo drive before I get mine ;)

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

    Fair enough.
  7. L

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Wouldn't it be better to just truck on with testing internally until they're 100% confident in rolling it out? Seems like with the recent incident they're being cautious with it.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

    They better!! 😂

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I would just get it done third party at this point.

Public Service Announcement - increase your sentry mode clip time to max.

You can change the length of clips??

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I better get my free 30 days of FSD if it comes out of Beta!
  12. L

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I guess more training is needed then. I've never been a fan of the vision-only approach but if they pull it off props to them.
  13. L

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Additional sensors would mitigate issues like that (lidar, radar, etc). But I doubt they'll be adding a new sensor suite anytime in the next 20 years.

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

    Hence why I said if.
  15. L

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

I'm talking about if they are really set on Juniper being their first one. Obviously the deals now are stellar.

Whatever happened to the front bumper camera and ambient lighting?

Until I see a live one in action I don't believe it.
  17. L

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

If you can wait until 2025 or beyond for a new vehicle to get Juniper just do that. It's going to be awhile before it comes out if the statement from Tesla is to be believed.

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

They should have never removed the sensors and radar, just use it to enhance the experience. Radar + USS + cameras is a superior experience. Cars being sold in the 2020s and on should be more advanced and easier to drive than cars before. That's part of the reason I keep harping on a front...

Think Musk is gonna give owners that free FSD trial ever?

  21. L

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

Cars today should be making it easier to do monotonous stuff like park (they are). Front bumper cam on newer Teslas would make parallel parking and pulling into certain spaces better. Plus, vision wouldn't have to remember objects because, well, it could see them. But seems they don't want to go...
  22. L

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I see what you're saying, but I was asking because I actually want to see him do a drive other than the typical San Fran routes he takes.
  23. L

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

    Well, that sucks then.
  24. L

    Tesla Vision vs Parking Sensors

Front bumper camera would clear up that last blind spot around the bumper and be useful just to look at. Don't the newer models have a hookup for an additional camera?
  25. L

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Sure, I can drive in low visibility in the snow. I never said it had to be perfect. This guy mainly does drives in sunny California.

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Does using your app (or really any other Tesla third party app) affect the infotainment performance of the car?

Model 3 Highland base model Demo Drive - Improvements and Setbacks compared to 2018 Model 3

Thanks for the write up Sunshine! I demo drove one the other day as well and it felt noticeably smaller inside than my current Tesla. I'm coming from a 2020 Model 3 RWD. I definitely agree with your points except for somewhat 4 and 5. 4 - while it wasn't fantastic, the RWD one that I drove had...

Cheaper to buy a new Model Y?

There's a Bloomberg article saying production of a revamped Model Y (not necessarily Juniper) in China will start at the soonest mid-2024. Delays can obviously happen: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-12-27/tesla-said-to-plan-revamp-of-smash-hit-model-y-from-china-plant

Cheaper to buy a new Model Y?

If you qualify for the incentive and can afford the car and need a car? Go for new. If you aren't in any urgent need of a new vehicle, doesn't hurt to wait to see the refresh. I'm sure there will still be inventory models by the time that drops (possibly even cheaper?).

    Supercharger - Lordsburg, NM

Just the other day I was mapping a route and thought they needed one in Lordsburg. Funny timing here.

Finally, backup cameras are smooth in the 2023 Holiday Update!

I'm curious when Model 3 started to have the gigabit ethernet connection included. I have a June 2020 build which is right on the edge of that cutoff you mentioned. I found an article way back in April of 2020 showing the Model Y had it. I'm really just making this post for any future people...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

A model Y with all the highland upgrades is definitely tempting to wait for but also knowing my area gives additional money if the msrp is under a certain amount also makes it tempting to get an inventory model... $34k model Y LR? That's hard to pass up.

Finally, backup cameras are smooth in the 2023 Holiday Update!

First, thank you for the write up Brian! I appreciate the detailed response. It's great to see them optimizing the hardware they already have. I definitely think they have their eyes on adding at least the pillar cams to sentry mode - they added it to the live view afterall. I don't have an...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

Wonder how long until these changes cascade to the US.

Finally, backup cameras are smooth in the 2023 Holiday Update!

So out of curiosity - how much processing power has been 'freed up' so to speak? 10%? 50%? I've absolutely noticed the faster dashcam video times and I guess I had a placebo with faster youtube playing. Do you think this will allow us to get the pillar cams + interior for sentry mode? I'm...

    2023 Holiday Update

You can almost smell the meat when they talk.
  38. L

    2023 Holiday Update

Because they decided to use vision over proven rain sensors. Not even a combo of both. 🤷‍♂️
  39. L

    2023 Holiday Update

So I've been wondering - what's the likelihood Tesla adds the pillar cameras to the sentry mode output? We just got pillar cams for live view with this update.
  40. L

    2023 Holiday Update

A car touted to be a technological marvel should have sensors to make driving easier. Of course you should be able to drive without them but that's not the point.
  41. L

    2023 Holiday Update

Doubt it. The Ryzen cars use different connectors and batteries. I would pay for one if it was offered though.
  42. L

    2023 Holiday Update

They could integrate a washer into the cam like the Cybertruck. Yes, it will add complexity to the system but it's possible. I do agree that USS is better. I've been saying that they'd benefit from a mix of sensors and cameras but 🤷‍♂️

    2023 Holiday Update

If that ends up being the case I'll gladly keep my USS functionality.

    2023 Holiday Update

hey I'm all for a good software solution and tesla vision is pretty impressive with what it can accomplish. I'm not even really against it per se. I just think it would benefit from a front bumper camera. (im jealous vision only users are getting this hifi park assist 😁)
  46. L

    2023 Holiday Update

good point. unless they got an ace up their sleeve there needs to be a front bumper camera so there aren't any blindspots. but maybe this update will "fix" tesla vision.
  47. L

    2023 Holiday Update

that's pretty dumb if that's the case but oh well. can't have it all I suppose. Hopefully we get some kind posters to show us how the new park assist looks :)

    2023 Holiday Update

a steering wheel with a place to rest my hand in the center of the bottom would be nice. some of my older cars (non Tesla) had an area like that.
