I noticed mine was hard to defrost today too, even on low temperature. It wouldn't let me put it on high fan, it defaults to AUTO for defrost. This might be why (the inlet you removed). Did you have a photo of it before and after?

Was there any particular reason to need an extension? Only thing I can think of is the power pole / post isn't always on the left side of the car and backing into a space might have the sun coming up through the windshield / etc. Also did you get the 14-50 extension or the TT-30 or both?
