Concerns for the future of Tesla Service

No excuses as the centre child restraint (non) cover is a massive stuff up that shouldn’t have happened but I guess the service crew are busy replacing rear parcel shelf’s on hundreds of Highland model 3s.

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

The 32nd pure EV around Australia lap was completed yesterday, it was also the first Electric Vehicle to tow a Van- https://www.tocwa.org.au/2021/07/07/around-australia-trips-in-a-pure-ev/

Model 3 Performance Replacement Tyres - Cost and Durability

You’re spot on with long straight roads extending tyre life, there’s a model 3 Performance in WA that clocked 115,000kms on the original set of 20s due to the low number of corners per distance driven. On the other hand some inner city drivers are chopping out a set of tyres in less than 30k kms.

    Service Request Response Times

19s makes life easier long term on a model S but if you have the time to check thoroughly for a set of second hand model S 21s you may get lucky. I seen sets of 4 go for as low as free, of course it’s sure be an interstate sale so be prepared for freight costs.

Model Y Rim Scuff/Curb Rash solutions

Next time you’re up in Perth visit Variety paints in Malaga. they can match the paint, in fact so many kerbs jump out in front of Tesla rims they probably have it matched already.

    Superchargers in Australia

As @Chuq has been very helpful in getting mainland state sites a vote I’m going for Campbell Town in Tasmania, it’s almost halfway between Hobart and Launceston and is a great spot for a 15 minute stop. The 2 generic DC chargers are already under pressure and now the Hobart Service/Showroom is...

Be prepared for an early delivery but fully expect a late delivery, that way you won’t feel disappointed. just make sure you are very very ready.

    SA Govt EV Network

I noticed that comment, clearly he should boycott the 22kw DC and just stick to the other charging option available at the Nullarbor Roadhouse- 15amp caravan outlets.
  10. Blue heaven

    SA Govt EV Network

It’s irrelevant if the RAA of SA ever get around to installing tax payer funded single phase type 2 (7kw) at Nullarbor or Border Village, crowd funded Delta 22kw DC have been installed by the Australian EV community at Nullarbor and Mundrabilla Roadhouses-...

Round Australia List! (put your name down if keen / serious)

So far we’ve been very lucky with people self reporting an around Australia trip or another EV owner spotting the trip on Plugshare, social media or YouTube and passing on the info. I think winter 2024 is the year that the list will lose accuracy As a lot more fast charging will be in place...

How much range loss in 40 degree heat

As you say, you started with a very hot car. When possible if you can depart with a shaded car that’s had the interior pre-cooled with energy from the power outlet range will be far better. The other factor is the interior temp setting, on a hot day 23C consumes far less battery than 19C.

150kw. At this stage it will charge a Tesla at a peak of 115kw even if only one EV plugged in. The old V2 Superchargers are slightly faster.

    First Road Trip

Better to be safe than in a real pickle in an Isolated part of Australia. I do believe that the QLD RAC agent in Camooweal which kindly provides the 3 phase charging has spent many a day rescuing petrol and diesel vehicles that have run out of fuel due to headwinds on that section of road.

    Road noise - 2023 Model Y

The 2023 model Y road noise level has improved over previous Teslas but is still noticeable. If you want an EV with low levels of road noise and smooth suspension buy a European car, if you want the most efficient EV for its size, availability to the best charging infrastructure in the country...

The RAA installing a 32amp single phase type 2 in Penong and Nullarbor when a 32amp 3 phase already exists is not going to provide anything but negative publicity- https://thedriven.io/2023/11/04/the-ev-charging-bottleneck-soon-to-arrive-on-the-nullarbor/

    ARENA/NRMA national fast charging network

Why has Tesla's charging advice changed

Charge you NCM pack LR or Performance to what you need, if your panning to drive 300kms before the next charge session charge to 80%, if you plan to drive 340kms charge to 90%, if you plan to drive across the Barkly Highway and don’t have time to stop at the roadhouse charge to 100%. Enjoy the car.

    Model X brake pad life

As others have pointed out the pads themselves could last well past the life of a complete ICE vehicle, that’s not to say you won’t have issues with the park brake callipers or the disc rotors.

    FastEV EVO1(+) 18" with Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6 for Model 3 Performance

    FastEV EVO1(+) 18" with Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6 for Model 3 Performance

It’s best to get at least 1000kms of use into the tyres before measuring efficiency, even then the only accurate assessment is two similar cars on the same roads at the same time, a Different set of tyres on each.

Beware new model Y and 3 owners, CCS2 adaptor mistake.

I left mine behind at the Balladonia Roadhouse….on the Nullarbor. Fortunately @Murbs was passing through about a week later and collected it. Managed to get all the way to Brisbane using V2 Superchargers and NRMA Chademo, old tech to the rescue.

Pictured is a CCS2 adaptor that is only useful for a pre 2020 model X or S vehicles in Australia.
