I charged there again and this time tried parking within the white lines and it does reach, just not as easily. So I agree this change is to allow other manufacturers cars to reach.

Yes they are operational. Charged there last night. I also noticed the lines were painted "wrong". I had to straddle the line to get the cord to reach. Me thinks someone screwed up.
