Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

Makes sense. But you saved tons of money over a Tesla so still a huge win for you, financially speaking.

Thank you for that input Bruce.

Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

Thank you for your last input Tam. Can you give an empirical example of how someone would abuse the use of their Tesla's battery? Thank you, Michael

Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

Then the clear answer to me is to vary as I see fit. Driving a long trip this Thursday, so that's in 2 days where I habitually charge to 97% or higher before the drive begins. Today 50% limit, next time charging, Thursday AM. The super station is minutes from home.

Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

I live within about 3 miles to our supercharger station at all times during the week except while traveling where I charge it up to full. The risk is next to zero. So my question being, keeping it at 35-40% max charging, will it keep the battery in better condition the whole year, or it doesn't...

Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

Would anybody else like to chime in who only uses under 50% levels of their Tesla battery daily for their work and unplug it before reaching 50? I.e. 40% is your wish.

Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

Ah maybe it started locking itself at that level since I was driving last week up to only 40% and charging again under 50%? That sounds logical. Can always stop the charging prematurely manually if I wish to on a timer on my wristwatch.

Cannot set max charging threshold below 50%

Hello guys, Happy to be a new member here and learning from you every day I read on this website. My question is, I have been playing with the max charge level, had it set to 35% this past week after learning that 20%-80% was not critically important for battery health. Now I've charged to 100%...

100% or 80%.... myth?? [preparing for a road trip]

Personally I'm all for the medium trickle charge speeds of 200v-240v depending on the wiring work by the electrician. Superchargers sure they're great however, used only for a few minutes, that practice keeps the battery cooler. It's the hot heated battery during long sessions of Superchargers...

100% or 80%.... myth?? [preparing for a road trip]

I love this tip. Thanks. Driving far tomorrow early, so I'll top it off in our garage on our slow 1kW 110v charger home plug tonight and grab a super to 98% now. Thanks man.

Ty for the info. I appreciate it.

    Tesla wall connector habits

You want to try to keep it above 19%. So 20% minimum when done for the day. This is so the battery health stays longer for normal charging.

    80% to 100% how long

This was from a Tesla battery engineer at my last repair. Interesting that you called his knowledge BS. Are you also a battery engineer? If not, what brings you to what you wrote?
  14. M

    80% to 100% how long

Hard no. You want to have the schedule end at 90%, or higher percentage when you head our for the long drive. You Do Not want to charge over 80% and leave the car for hours in that high state of charge. Try to drive within 5-10 minutes of 81% or higher, says a Tesla battery engineer to me on...

100% or 80%.... myth?? [preparing for a road trip]

Do not apologize for seeking knowledge, ever! Brand new owner of a used Model S 2016 and this sexy beast was brought in to service a little lock compartment repair inside and with that service time I asked this exact question. Here comes the answer from the engineer on the spot, who's...

Is leaving Tesla plugged in while not charging really beneficial?

This is a service repair. Was just st Tesla on Tuesday of this week, 2 days ago and talked to another Tesla owner and he was getting this problem serviced.

    Model X - should I, or should I not??

Dear OP, I own a Tesla that has 209 miles without AC and running AC air about 201 total miles. I run it with air conditioning most days and on other days with the windows partly open. My main question for you is, when driving from your area to London, I believe you have many charging areas with...

PSI Inflation automatic on Model S?

Hi! New owner of a used Model S here. I noticed the tires inflate automatically. They went from 46, 46, 46, 45 to 50, 50, 50, and 49 when we loaded heavy bags for dropping off my friends at the airport here. Is this normal for Model S 2016? If so, another kudo for Tesla company from my heart!

Hot days - car trying to cool something? (Loud noise)

Interesting! I notice this when racing with my Tesla Model S and engine / battery after parking with a hot engine cooling sound that sounds like an airplane / or industrial vacuum cleaner. So that's the engine being cooked, not the main battery correct? This happened when I raced a Ferrari on...

    Waymo

I've traveled in Waymo now in Arizona State. They're really cool but they drive way too politically correct so I prefer speed with my Tesla. I do not stop at all Stop signs. I slow down. However, Waymo does! No thank you 😏 I am also Swedish.

Tesla Battery Preconditioning: When, How, and Why You Should Do It

I believe the battery reconditioning will only help the driver with Superchargers. Something this thread missed is that reconditioning the battery is designed for when you live very close to a Supercharging Station. I do. I live in the countryside and have it a few minutes away. So what I'll do...

    Roadtrip - Sydney,NSW to Bowen,Qld

Wow! What a read! Outstanding day dairy note taking, leaving complexities out of the story. I now own a used 2026 Model S with a refreshed battery and it charges to just about exactly the same level as day 1. Driving nearly as far as you later this summer. 5000km or perhaps 6000km south through...
