Labor, transport, disposal. They were paid to install the SuC. Probably nothing involving the old stuff.

Most residential neighborhood transformers max out well below what you need, though 2 years ago, we got solar and our transformer was due for replacement anyway. The power company came out and upgraded our 9.9 to a 15 before they'd allow us to power on.

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

I've seen some reputable "napkin math" from battery experts online, and it's rumored that the 4680 pack has a large buffer (~5kWh), so I'm confident they can bump it. Back in 2020, I had a Perf X that was a 100kWh pack, but JUST before they started calling it the Long Range pack. that revision...

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

Hi guys.....I took delivery of my AWD 4680 Y in May, and have over 12,000 miles on it. I live in Western Maine, so I have warm weather specs, and some early returns on winter. First: home charging. I've got a Clipper Creek hard-wired to a 50A breaker, output of 9.6kW. The car charges at 37mph...

    Supercharger - Lawrence, MA

There's enough charger density in this stretch where Lawrence can just be a "splash and dash" on road trips

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

It's really not that bad if you live somewhere with decent SuC density. Luckily I'm in the northeast. A 17m charge gives me roughly 3 hours of driving.
  9. ModelNforNerd

Model Y standard range battery LFP?

I have the 4680 Y (now a unicorn, apparently). I just want 100-110kW up to 50% SoC. I don't care about 250, because I know I have a smaller pack. Maybe when the superchargers are opened up, they'll tweak it so they can open up stalls for revenue-generators.

Referral Buyer in Virginia Denied FSD Free Trial Benefit?

It's called "bird dogging". It's a tactic used in military towns where a soldier or sailor buys a car and then refers all his buddies to the same "stealership" that charges each of them 20%+ interest. The law was put in place as a consumer protection, and there's no carve out in the language...

Is Owning a Tesla Y Manageable in a State Without a Service Center?

I'm also in Maine. In the winter, make a mental note to occasionally use your foot to activate the mechanical brakes. Also, on the warmer days we get in between storms, not a bad idea to Rinse everything underneath including your brakes

Is Owning a Tesla Y Manageable in a State Without a Service Center?

The Toyota dealer in Topsham can do the little non-software stuff like brakes. I brought it to them for my tire rotation, because I know they have the correct lift point pucks

Upcoming update 2023.26 just saved me some money, time, and effort

Just like anywhere else comma you will need supplemental sources. heat pumps lose their effectiveness down around 20 Fahrenheit. We had about a 3-week stretch last year where it was colder than 10 below

Upcoming update 2023.26 just saved me some money, time, and effort

I'm in Maine, I wouldn't say pennies..... It's a one for one kWh credit, but they carry over/roll for 12 months. So when I'm not pulling anything from the grid to run my house in the summer, I'm banking credits for the winter when I am definitely pulling from the grid to stay warm. I'm now at...

    Buying from New Hampshire

Maine tried to do the same thing to me, but to a less extreme. They were doing the math based on the earlier April price of $53k+, even though I jumped on it when it was $47K. (MY AWD) They used the bill of sale numbers for my sales tax, and in my case, the excise tax was a moot point, because...

    Buying from New Hampshire

I'm retired, have the means, and have the time. If I had gotten a ticket, my efforts to get it tossed in court might have educated the officer, so that someone with less money or time to fight it wouldn't have to prepay/plead guilty, because the ticket wouldn't get issued in the first place. If...

    Buying from New Hampshire

During the last week, I had a local cop slow down and take a good hard look because he couldn't find the inspection sticker on my windshield, I was watching in the rear view as he saw the license plate and moved along.

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

I still laugh at that, because he was still the company's CTO when he made the trip. If something wasn't right, he probably had a special number to call, unlike the regular schmuck in an ID4 in 10 degree weather.
  33. ModelNforNerd

    Buying from New Hampshire

You cannot be ticketed for a valid out of state plate. That would be a violation of interstate commerce laws. Tesla dragged their feet with my paperwork from Paramus, and I drove around NJ, NY, CT, MA, NH and ME and used up 27 of the 30 days on the tag. No one blinked an eye.

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

I think they'll all be in a bad spot. VW doesn't seem to have as much incentive to maintain the network that they are already bad at maintaining.

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

I'm guessing it's a supply chain thing. Who is building the ports? Gm and Ford respectively? Or are they purchasing pre-made? if tesla was smart, they'd spin up production of the ports and make money on that end too.
  36. ModelNforNerd

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

I don't know, once Hyundai/Kia get their factory up and running and are producing NA-spec EVs here (likely with the NACS port), VW will be the only ones left in any real numbers on EA. Rivian and Lucid will have some decisions to make at that point. (Which makes Lucid's guerilla marketing...

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

I had an ID4, briefly, before coming back. Walmarts aren't that bad, and to be fair, pre-pandemic, many were open 24/7. Now, most close at 11, but EA couldn't have foreseen that fundamental shift in how we do business. The times I've stopped at a Walmart for charging were always convenient. But...

    Supercharger - Auburn MA

This puts this location in cold weather range for me as my 1st stop on the way from ME to VA. Otherwise, I'd have to stop in Littleton, since I probably won't get to Charlton-West in the winter.
  40. ModelNforNerd

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

If they're wiping out EA, I'd go with capacity. Maybe they could spin those off, or maybe someone like Walmart gets in the game, since many EA chargers are already in their parking lots.

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

There is some overlap they could sell off. I know of at least a handful of locations on the East Coast that are in the same parking lots, or within a mile of each other.

Trip report: Santa Cruz, CA to Lovell, ME

I'd never leave basic AP if they'd just give us back the driver initiated lane changes. That's why they don't give it to us. For me, that one addition makes AP the sweet spot for highway travel. Even with vision based AP, compared to USS, I have no other complaints so far.

Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

I had 3 Teslas in a row, but my faberge egg X wasn't suited for rural Maine. I jumped around Volvo and Ford hybrids. Then an ID4.....and the interface and EA are why I'm back. If you can't get your car to work correctly on your own network, what's the point?
