Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

When I bought mine in 2015 autopilot would soon be able to drive across the country, stopping and charging itself along the way, to pick you up and drive you where you like. I’m surprised they haven’t been sued for making misleading claims several times over already. Surely ’soon’ is at least...

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

All the above recent conversation just shows that different people have different proirities in a car. But there is no denying that the EQE is a genuine alternative to the S for many and Tesla’s radio silence on pricing and availability will cost them sales.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

EQE released in Aus today with January delivery dates. Will this prompt Tesla to announce a price and delivery timeframe?

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I think this is a case of wishful thinking. If orders open up for UK then it won’t be far off. Until then its vaporware.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

Does the European updated S and X have a CCS port? Or still need an adapter.

Refresh Model X & S Waiting Room - AUSTRALIA (Orders cancelled by Tesla May2023)

I’m in the same boat. Given up on a tesla option to replace my 7 year old model with a new X so now waiting on what the soon to be announced EQE SUV will look like or the Polestar 3 specs, price and delivery time. While they may not match Tesla in tech and raw acceleration, at least those...

The Universal Mobile Connector is no longer standard equipment with new orders after 8 July 2022??

One point to note is a $550 accessory if part of the car purchase price is actually more like $750 drive away price when lct and sd is added. Better that it’s separate.

    Tesla Model Y in Australia

For me I got an email and it’s in my account on the website. I’m guessing for Perth the pickup location is Perth so no choice.

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

While the 2.5c is not huge what gets me is they say it is to replace the tax lost from petrol sales. As far as I can tell my Model S when purchased had a battery worth at least $20k in it and that battery attracted tax through import duty, lct, gst and stamp duty of over $13k meaning I...

    Superchargers in Australia

Thanks. At that price it’s probably not worth it for me. Disappointing. But don’t want to take this thread off on a tangent.

    Superchargers in Australia

Apologies if this is covered recently but I notice on PlugShare that there are now superchargers in karrinyup but they are only CCS plugs. Is this a thing? Have I waited 6 years to get a supercharger within 200km of me so I can finally use some of my free for life supercharging privileges only...

    Electric V Hydrogen

I skimmed the links. It spoke of a solid state way to produce ammonia with less energy input than a conventional process. It briefly mentioned a new way to turn ammonia back into hydrogen being developed by CSIRO. CSIRO themselves quote the round trip net energy efficiency of Ammonia production...

    Electric V Hydrogen

Producing Hydrogen from Ammonia????? As I understand it Ammonia is produced by first producing Hydrogen, usually from natural gas or methane and combine it with nitrogen extracted from the air by refrigeration with nitric acid production somewhere as an intermediate step to ultimately becoming...

How much do highway chargers influence your EV purchase poll.

I think cars charging publicly (not highway charging) are doing EV adoption a disservice. It gives people the perception that these cars are tethered to a charging cable and heightens their range anxiety when thinking of an EV.

EU Model 3 has DAB+ radio and FM... so assume ours will too!

I seem to remember that DAB was disabled on Australian cars due to concerns about reception quality. The hardware is probably there but turned off in software.

    Superchargers in Australia

It’s probably only about a weeks work to add to all the Australian superchargers and makes sense to do it as close to M3 arrival as practical to avoid unnecessary maintenance.

Am I misinformed? (EV fires versus ICE fires)

I thought conventional wisdom said that only EV’s (and maybe the occasional monk) spontaneously combusted. It seems that this isn’t the case? Chadstone shopping centre locked down after car fire

    How Green is EV ownership

With a bit of googling to try to verify the above quoted power consumption for refining fuel, I found some stats on BP's Kwinana refinery - They contracted to take 40MW of power from a co-gen power plant located on site (they also take steam from the same plant) - In 2009 they refined 600,000t...

Why I’m tired of hearing from impatient whingers about Model 3 wait

I think you are right with the possible exception of Bluewaters Power station. It’s only about 10years old and I think the Administrators have been keeping it running since Griffin coal went under 4 or 5 years ago. I could be wrong but seem to remember that most of its capacity is contracted to...

Australia\NZ Electric Vehicle Charging standards (Ban the J1772?)

It is interesting to note that there isn't actually a global standard for fuel. Countries have different standards and manufacturers tailor engines to suit the fuel quality of the country they are selling to. What is important is for the country choose a standard for charging as they have done...

    HW2.5

I feel that regardless of which version may or may not work, neither will be road legal to operate fully autonomously without adding some redundancy of systems along with vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications.

    Destination Chargers in Australia

If you want to follow the practice of an eye for an eye....they stop you from 'refuelling', you do the same and superglue their fuel flap closed. Not that I would encourage or condone that behaviour.

Some ramblings on the fully automatous level 5 stuff...

That's why there really need to be infrastructure changes for it to work properly. Car to infrastructure communications- eg traffic lights - and car to car. That way emergency vehicles just broadcast to get out of the way or pull over. Or even that I'm coming up to the intersection so stop to...

Australians spent $42.5 billion on fuel last year

The government is probably more interested in the $13 billion per year in fuel taxes it stands to lose by encouraging the shift away from fuel.

    News from Western Australia

A bit off topic but I'm wondering if one of the WA long distance pioneers has some advice for a trip from Perth to Geraldton, returning the next day. It seems there are 2 semi-public options for a mid point top up charge for an hour(ish). - The Indian Ocean Rd route would involve a stop at...

Has anyone obtained a Powerwall 2 installation quote yet?

I could be wrong now but in WA a 5kW inverter was the max you could install and still get a feed in tarriff. I think there are also limits on how large a single phase system can be.

Warning - the Tesla stories are coming, be prepared.

Actually I recall that article. It was the first one that I remember reading about Tesla and ended up buying one. Not sure if that was the intended effect the writer had at the time. At the time I already had 3 phase power so that aspect didn't bother me. But have spent the best part of the...

RAC WA Launch Electric Highway Website.

It's unfortunate that Bridgetown has stalled over what seems to be a small issue. I don't see that under current circumstances Fremantle will ever get legs and the location doesn't seem to add any value to an electric highway given proximity to other charging options nearby. My feeling is that...

RAC WA Launch Electric Highway Website.

It seems that Fremantle and Bridgetown installations have stalled indefinitely. I wonder if they would consider other locations for an install, like extending down to Albany or maybe using these 2 'spare' chargers to open up a fast charging route north to Geraldton.

Supercharger fee announced, Australia 35 cents per kWh

While this sounds good now. Long term ultimately governments will realise they have a shrinking revenue base for fuel taxes and explore other mechanisms to recover. Whether that is a charge for power for EVs (I think unlikely) or a km charge for all cars to replace the fuel taxes these changes...

    Is this a new bug?

It happens a lot and has done for a while. I think it is when there are nearby side streets and the gps thinks you are on those and resticts speed to max 80. In perth driving on the freeway over Mt Henry bridge will trigger this reaction when nearing the abutments maybe 1 time in 4. A new bug...
