Amazon delivery van backed into my parked car, advice appreciated

Just FYI, Amazon doesn't own the delivery network or those sprinter vans (although they definitely control it). They farm last mile delivery out to independent operators who operate in specific territories (I looked at one that was for sale recently but quickly decided against buying it). So...

Who has gone from a Model S performance to M3P?

I put down a $100 deposit on an inventory M3P today, so I'm officially trading the P85D that I bought new in 2015. I want the Plaid but don't want to wait (and can't afford it right now anyway). I figure M3P is good enough for a year or two until I can grab a Plaid. I may even keep it and throw...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

If your SC is anything like mine, you'll need a comprehensive database of exactly when and where the issue happened, what you and your extended family members and pets were doing at the time, and a list of 10 references that they will call and interrogate. Then they'll ask if you've restarted...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

After my experience this morning (via text...because, you know...they don't take customers' phone calls), I'm convinced that this is all a facade. My eMMC chip is exhibiting all of the symptoms of failure - including the ones listed by Tesla - and they just outright refused to even look at it...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

I've been having massive issues with my MCU (typical taking forever to boot up, restart takes an eternity, intermittent blank screen, etc) and so I made an appointment. They are now texting me asking for specific dates on the intermittent screen and won't set up an appointment without it. Like...

    2015 Model S Buyer's Remorse - advice

I get all worked up when I read these forums as well. You got a good deal though - try to enjoy the car and live in the moment. If you're really worried, build up a small financial buffer over time. Even $1k will go a long way. Mine has been out of warranty for about 18 months now. I had to...

Bought CPO Model S yesterday and now Tesla says they made a mistake and will not honor the Price

Apples to oranges comparison I guess, but this happened to Zappos awhile back. Instead of refusing to honor the mistake, they used it to build goodwill with their customers and further their brand. It cost them $1.6M. Zappos.com's $1.6M Mistake That Boosted its Brand

    Purchasing Model S after lease

I bought my P85D out of the warranty for the exact same reasons. I don't regret this, though I have no warranty. Free supercharging and not having to pay for my mileage overages made it worth it. PSA though - don't expect the purchase to go smoothly. My thinking was that I already have the...

Tesla is either extremely incompetent, or extremely dishonest, or both.

Jesus H Christ (or should I say Elon H Musk since apparently you worship him), the guy got royally screwed and has literally no one to speak with about it. Tesla apologists and Elon worshipers like you are the reason they can keep getting away with this complete and utter BS. Honestly though...

    Sharing my car repair experience

Is your car at Caldwell? My wife and another car backed into each other in a Starbucks parking lot a couple years ago. $11k damage on my car (for a dent the size of my phone), and literally no damage to the other person's Toyota Tacoma. I can't remember exactly how long it took but Caldwell was...

Torklift Hitch Installed on Model S

Any ideas as to why SeaSucker doesn't make racks where you don't have to take off the front wheel? All three of my mountain bikes have thru axles and I don't particularly want to deal with that. I've been using the Whispbar Tesla rack for years, but it's very problematic and the rubber has...

Bike roof rack for all glass '18 Model S

The only issues I've had are with the Whispbar attachment. Long story short, the clamp that holds the bike's downtube sucks. I'd go with a Thule or something else. I've driven from North Carolina to Colorado three times with bikes on top of the car.

Model S "CPO" vs. Standard Model 3?

I forget but it's A LOT. I'm thinking driving across Kansas we were steady between 500 and 600. Coming back I remember catching a tail wind which was nice. For bugs, I pretty much just wipe it down with a wash cloth. Trestle Bike Park tends to add some dents and dings to my bike anyway, so...

Model S "CPO" vs. Standard Model 3?

Please do send an invite! I think I know one of the members but I've never been to an event. And I'll definitely let you know if I need to get rid of it. My wife and I are currently downsizing and thinking of making a move to bigger mountains, so it's kind of tempting. That free...

Model S "CPO" vs. Standard Model 3?

I have - for the past three summers - driven my P85D from North Carolina to Colorado and back with my Specialized Demo 27.5 and my wife's Davinci Troy 27.5 on top. ;) There are a few long stretches where we had to be careful and charging definitely takes longer, but aside from that it's been great.

Model S "CPO" vs. Standard Model 3?

Hey there fellow Ashevillian ;) I recently went through the same decision. I've had my P85D since it was new in 2015 (leased), and I had an M3 reservation. My lease was up last October and I chose to keep the P85D because of the nightmare QC/customer service issues Tesla has been having with...

Water Leak in Trunk Storage Area

Thought I'd update this in case anyone ever has the same problem and manages to find this thread. First off, it's pretty easy to remove/replace the vents from inside the car (thank god). Secondly, I removed the vent and put plenty of silicone caulk all around it then carefully put it back...

Awesome - thanks! I wouldn't have thought of that. I'm not the obsessive type at all though so just drying them out in the sun may have worked well enough.

Water Leak in Trunk Storage Area

Wow I'm insanely impressed with your detective skills! My wife got in a parking lot fender bender a few years back and the rear bumper had to be replaced. So yeah that explains things. I just don't know how long this has been happening. Anyway, thanks so much for your help. I'll figure out...

Water Leak in Trunk Storage Area

2015 P85D out of warranty so trying to diagnose this myself. I've searched about this issue quite a bit but haven't found another thread with the same problem. I noticed recently that my trunk was smelling super musty, and after inspecting it further it was clear that the storage area was...

An Update to our Supercharging Program

Sorry...add brain dead to bitchy and pouty. I've got a M3 reservation and as soon as my lease is up I was planning to get a shiny new MX (if not before).

An Update to our Supercharging Program

I'm being bitchy and pouty this morning after a very long weekend. Could someone explain to me how this is a good thing? I've chosen at least four long road trips in lieu of flying the past year and a half and I've very much enjoyed it. Charging me to use the supercharger network makes me...

Would a D Model S make it up this hill?

I just drove from Allentown PA to York PA right smack in the middle of winter storm Jonas with my stock tires on. While it was sketchy, I thought the D handled WAY better than my old Audi S4 that had all season tires. I don't live in an area that gets a lot of snow, but I worked in the ski...

Cruise Control Not Available (Autopilot too)

The only time I've experienced it is when I drove through some snow and the radar on the front got covered up. Maybe wipe it down with a damp cloth? It's in the middle, just under the bumper.

WARNING: I rear-ended someone today while using Auto Pilot in my brand new P90D!

I really hope the most recent update fixes these issues. I also never experienced it with 7.0 but with 7.1 have seen my car try to dive into the other lane like Electricfan's vid. Very unsettling for sure.

Raleigh NC Delivery Team dropped the ball

I also had a very bad experience picking up my car in Raleigh. No fun extras, no frills, no excitement, barely a walkthrough. I drove up to Canada 30 days after I picked it up and had a very faded temporary plate. After emailing back and forth many, many times, I finally got another temp...

What the Heck is up with Autopilot?

I drove 2k miles in the past 6 days, including three days stuck in rural PA due to winter storm Jonas. On the way back last night, I thought my Tesla finally decided to start getting me back for all the insane mode pulls because several times when we would pass a car in the left lane (on the...

    Hagerstown -> Tannersville

This actually sounds really cool. If I have time, I wouldn't mind stopping off in Hershey for a couple of hours, assuming the HPWCs charge ~30 miles/hour. I normally use evtripplanner but for this trip it's trying to send me pretty far out of the way (and up I-95, which I'd like to avoid)...

    Hagerstown -> Tannersville

Hoping some locals can help me out here - I'll be heading to the Poconos tomorrow from NC and it's right at 200 miles from Hagerstown to Tannersville. What would be the most efficient way to navigate this? Sadly, I don't have a chademo adaptor or I could stop in Harrisburg for an hour.

auto parellel parking - nothing happens after pressing "start" - anyone?

Me too. I'm almost as impressed with this as autopilot. It somehow managed to squeeze into a REALLY tight spot in DC last weekend - there's no way I would have made it in there on my on.

A few questions from a potential owner

My P85D with 19s is super quiet on the highway. I've driven VWs and Audis for awhile, so maybe I'm just used to something much louder. I asked my wife and she thinks it's quiet as well.

    Tesla Valet service goes POOF!!!

If it's any consolation, you and I are basically neighbors and I spoke with the Charlotte service center today. They were very accommodating and got me an appointment on Tuesday, when I happen to be in town on business. If something substantial fails, I will definitely push for the $100 ranger...

    Tesla Valet service goes POOF!!!

[totally OT but...] I'm not an old fart yet, but this is so insanely true. We've used a few B2B Silicone Valley startups at my business, and the general attitude towards customers is pretty abysmal. In 12 years of owning a small business, using Indinero was one of the worst decisions I ever...

Car exited production, now DS is unresponsive

Considering the hype/expectation after purchasing a nice car, they should at least respond to emails. My DS didn't either, and I'm on a different continent. Like someone said in another thread, they have a great product and terrible customer service. If we had to choose one over the other...

    Tesla Valet service goes POOF!!!

It's very much an unethical move. Can someone smarter than me tell me how it's legal to sell a car based on a certain service promise, and then reverse course after purchase?

    Tesla Valet service goes POOF!!!

My driver's side rear door handle quit presenting tonight and I live exactly 135mi from the nearest service center. I feel your pain. Fortunately, I'll be in the area on business next week so that's good (assuming they can take a look at it). I'm on a AAA family plan that I keep forgetting...

New Owners: What was your last car? How much more was the MS than that car?

I like this thread because I, too, had never planned on buying such an expensive car (except for the Porsche GT3RS of my dreams). 2011 VW Jetta TDI - $28k P85D - $113k $85k difference.

Letter To Elon Musk Regarding P85D Horsepower – Discussion Thread

I'll admit that this thread is making me have buyers remorse for getting that little P in front of the 8. Since the hp is the only difference - and apparently it's not as advertised - there's no way it's worth the premium. I'll also admit I'm hesitant to sign for fear of retribution from...

What I've realized after Dipping my Car

Do you guys think this color scheme would be too ballsy for the MS? I'm in love with it.
  47. J

Are MS owners receptive to after-market parts peddlers?

For such a forward-thinking company with a rock star CEO, I fully expected them to have better customer service. My ordering process and delivery experience was so underwhelming. I do love the car though, so at least I have that.
