    Supercharger - Dedham, MA

Right. I just checked the Supercharger map and that site is not yet shown. Sorry if I made a red herring comment!

What's the difference between the Hot and cold defrost options?

Not quite sure I am following your explanation. But in every car I have owned before I had a tesla, there was a "Defrost" button and also air controls that could direct air in various ways, usually including an option for "bilevel" flow that went to the windshield and the floor. The "Defrost"...

    Supercharger - Dedham, MA

There is another Supercharger installation under construction (or maybe complete by now?) further north on Providence Highway, near the Dedham/West Roxbury line (in the parking lot near Chick-Filet). Maybe the data entry for that was mis-located?

Starting to see 2015s with BMS_u029 and 018

I had not seen this thread before today, but I am glad now that I have decided to trade in my 2015 Model S 70D even though it has only 69,000+ miles. The car has served me well, although not without the usual collection of mechanical failures. My main reason for trading it in is to get a more...

What does tesla charge for processing the registration and title?

Just out of curiosity, what is Tesla charging these days to process the registration, collect the sales taxes, provide and register the title, and so on? Besides the fees charged by the government agencies themselves? I do not recall what Tesla charged me 8 years ago, but I understand that a...

    Ambiguous Model S interior?

More to my taste, for sure! It has actual turn signal stalks, etc.

    Ambiguous Model S interior?

I'd love to, but -- I have posted elsewhere (too much and too often, most likely) that I am in the market for something to replace my 2015 Model S, but have not been happy with the low seating in the S (getting old!), have not found the X or Y to be comfortable enough, and am looking at other...

Nice photo! Tesla should use that one instead!

    Ambiguous Model S interior?

Thanks! That should have occurred to me, especially since my car is a 2015, but now that you mention it I can see what you mean. There still seems to be something weird about that black shape at the bottom of the upholstery strip, but it is probably just the angle of the photo. Anyway, sorry...

    Ambiguous Model S interior?

I was browsing the Tesla used car inventory and looked at a listing for a 2021 Model S for sale in the Boston area. I was not sure if the car would be a "Raven" or a newer facelift design, so I looked at the photo of the interior to see what screen is installed, horizontal or vertical. I was...

What does the Wall Connector do exactly ?

One other thing it does is to provide a sturdy and reliable cable and plug, presumably more suitable for daily long-term use than the Mobile Connector (no longer supplied with new cars but used by many early owners of Tesla cars). I say this in part because of my own experience with my WC...

    Tesla's cooling and heating system

Does this description apply to all years? I should think the description and components would be quite different for the latest models with heat pumps.... (Edit) From reading the comments, I gather that this is for the current (2021+ model years, right? Except I see no mention of the term...

Suspicious influx of Demo Model S/X in new inventory

Just took a quick look at the Boston-area inventory, and there are literally zero Model S and Model X used inventory cars. Possible the inventory is out of date because of the holiday, but....

Suspicious influx of Demo Model S/X in new inventory

I think you may be right, but I doubt it will happen. With the greater efficiency and range Tesla can now deliver, they could afford to make the car more comfortable, quieter, less "techy," more like the Lucid perhaps. But as was said earlier, I think their real opportunity would be in the...

Model X price cuts- yet again

Plus, wouldn't you say that in most cases, it is difficult to know at the time of initial purchase that a particular car model might turn out to be a "classic" and hold its value? I think there are many cars that people bought and drove and later regretted they had not cared better for, because...

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

My 2015 70D has about 69,000 miles and no known battery problems. I never charge it to 100% (well, maybe once or twice in past years but not recently) and do not know what the GOM would say the range is (I would not believe it anyway ;)). In my first year of ownership, I had no home charging...

Owners delivery stories, photos and first impressions

As an historical note -- I am fairly sure that this color (Titanium metallic) was first introduced together with the 70D in 2015. I remember because that model is what I bought (but I got mine in red), and I have a photo saved someplace from the Tesla website showing the 70D in that color. A...

Why does Tesla sell used cars with Full Self Driving?

So, evidently they use the word "Capability" because the actual features that have been released are not a full set of features, i.e., it isn't really "full self driving" yet. They explain that in the text, which is effectively a disclaimer.
  20. David29

Why does Tesla sell used cars with Full Self Driving?

I do not think so. the used cars are labelled as one of three things: Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot, and Full Self Driving Capability. Then the descriptions have details on the associated capabilities. If you had to buy them, I do not think they would be listed as attributes of the cars in...

    2023 Model S Road Noise?

Hmmm, maybe I should be looking at pickup trucks!
  22. David29

Why does Tesla sell used cars with Full Self Driving?

Tesla lists some inventory used cars as having "Full Self Driving Capability." This suddenly struck me as curious. Why not advertise the car at a lower price without FSD and offer it as an extra cost add-on? Wouldn't it be likely that today's price for FSD is higher than the previous owner...

    2023 Model S Road Noise?

I have driven two new Model X (demonstrators) recently, one with 20" tires and one with 22" tires (sorry, brand not noted), and both had what I thought was very loud road noise, worse than my 8 year-old Model S 70D. Very little wind noise, though. Can you explain a bit more about why you think...

Suspicious influx of Demo Model S/X in new inventory

Ah, good point. Plus I had an error in my post, which I corrected but not before you quoted it. I misread the price, which was not actually below the $80K figure anyway.

Suspicious influx of Demo Model S/X in new inventory

Took a look at the Boston (MA) area inventory, and do indeed see three Model X cars in inventory, all with fewer than 1000 miles, and all three listed as "Demo vehicle." One of them has 22" wheels and the black/white interior and is listed at $87,200, quite a bit below the list price (but still...

    2017 Model X vs 2023 Model X

I agree, I am very concerned about the business of charging on the road. But we hardly ever go far enough to use a Supercharger, and the CCS charging is going to get better, so I think it is OK to focus on my comfort for 99% of the time. I agree about car seats. I will say that I have almost...

    2017 Model X vs 2023 Model X

Just to follow up -- I had a second test drive in the 2020 Raven Model X that I was looking at, and decided it is simply too noisy, much noisier than my old Model S (which I already thought to be too noisy). Plus the driver's seat, which I had found to be surprisingly comfortable on the previous...

    2017 Model X vs 2023 Model X

As someone who is now shopping for a newer car (now in a 2015 Model S) and has been looking at Model X, I have enjoyed reading this comparison thread. I have decided to focus on the Raven models, because I want the improved efficiency and the advanced air suspension, but do not care for the...

    State Inspection in MA

I have always wondered how often people get pulled over for inspection sticker violations. My cynical view has been that the police around here (at least in suburban Boston) do not usually pull over people for that but that is entirely my speculation. My spouse has a life-long habit of trying...

    State Inspection in MA

I vividly recall the day that I registered the very first car I ever purchased, a 1965 Mercedes Benz 190D (Diesel sedan). I was then a naval officer stationed in DC and living in Arlington Virginia. The car was 2 years old and had a windshield crack, and I had made an appointment for it to be...

    Lack of Sun Visor Utility

Hoping to re-activate this old thread. I have been looking at Model X, and test drove both a used Raven model (2020) and the new (2023) refreshed model. I simply cannot understand how people live with these completely inadequate (but admittedly clever) sun visors. When I drove the 2022 car...

    Service Car

I had a mobile service tech here a year or two ago, who came in a Model X. But that was the only time. I have had 3 or 4 techs come in a Model S and at least one in an ICE van. The Model X looked to be the best set-up, but it is obviously more expensive, and it is not unlikely it requires more...

    Considering buying a 2019/2020 X - concerned about “X issues” thoughts please!

I'm also shopping for a used "Raven" Model X. Can you tell me how much the Tesla ESA costs? I have read about it on Tesla. com, I know that only original owners can purchase it, and that only a 2-year agreement is available (which is disappointing since I had a 4-year ESA on my Model S and was...

Tesla Service Center - Dedham, MA

I do not see the service center project on the agenda for the next Planning Board meeting on November 8, although the Supercharger project is on the agenda. The next ZBA meeting is November 15 but no agenda has been posted yet.

State DMV Inspection, After Purchase, Can I use Tesla?

FWIW, in Massachusetts, Tesla does not do inspections because they would be required to do inspections for any car that shows up, and they do not want to be in the business of inspecting ICE cars (and trucks). I am glad for that -- the Tesla shops around here are overly busy as it is.

Tesla Service Center - Dedham, MA

Interesting! I did not know that Tesla was still using volunteers to help with peak delivery times! Good for you! Since I live in Dedham, maybe I should do that as well.... And as a coincidence, today I stumbled across what is apparently the off-site logistics lot. I have known where at...

Advice on buying 2018 MX 100D with shuddering issue

I was astonished to see this link with the inventory of used cars. At first, I assumed the data was stale since this post was six months ago. But I did a separate search from a different browser window and discovered the data is current. But what surprised me was that, first of all, some...

Model X shudder--blown off by Tesla service. Advice?

Agreed. Surprised that the recommended pressure is only 42! Unlikely that it is a tire pressure issue, then, although it might still be related to tires in some other way. Maybe she has a bad tire. She did say she had a puncture recently and had one tire replaced. Maybe it does not match or...

Model X shudder--blown off by Tesla service. Advice?

I texted the seller this evening to see if she was able to get the Service Center to look at the car. She said she made an appointment for next week. But someone (probably the service writer) must have looked briefly at the car, because she also said they suspected the vibration was from the...

Tesla Service Center - Dedham, MA

Wait, so the plan is to keep the present site for the sales function and the new one would be for service? Wow, I had misunderstood. That is a bigger increase in tesla's presence that I had thought! It certainly does get very crowded there at times.... I noticed today that one of the other...

Model X shudder--blown off by Tesla service. Advice?

I have been in the market for a new car (my Model S is 8 years old and out of warranty). Today I test drove a 2022 (Raven) Model X Long Range. The car has only 15,000 miles on it. After driving it for 15-20 minutes or so on various roads, I found myself first in line at a stop light on a local...

Tesla Service Center - Dedham, MA

That is indeed interesting! I was at the Verizon store in that same building, adjacent to the former Bed, Bath & Beyond, just yesterday. I noticed that there were a lot of Teslas parked in that parking lot, and realized after a few seconds that most either had dealer plates or were...

What's the condition of that mall these days? The last time I was there, perhaps 2 years or so ago, the mall looked like it was on the brink of failure, with few large stores and limited services. As I recall, there was not a great selection of places to eat or wait while the car charges....I...

    Charge Port Suddenly having Issues

Sounds very much like the symptoms i had a few weeks ago. Got the charge port replaced by the service center. Mobile service may be able to do it. They tried to do so on my car, but something had rusted out so some body shop repair was needed -- very ugly long, drawn-out affair, not really...

Model S not auto opening and requiring authentication with FOB

This was a solution (see later post, just above) but it took a couple minutes to figure out why the setting was grayed out -- you have to hold your foot on the brake while changing it.

Model S not auto opening and requiring authentication with FOB

I found this thread when I was having similar issues after having my car at the service center and body shop for 4 weeks (long story, told elsewhere). I rebooted the MCU 2 or 3 times, which cleared up the message requiring authentication (as well as some window issues). But it did not solve...

I think you are right! I did not see that. I thought the two buttons (with the ridge between) to the left of the left scroll wheel were the turn signals. Is this perhaps a wheel from Model 3/Y? Anyway, my bad -- I leapt to the wrong conclusion. :(
