Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Engineers left Mercedes in late 80s, when marketing folks took over. If engineers were in charge Mercedes market cap would have been today's 84+53B. Love their brochures, refrigerated apples in service centers, but got tired at 3k/year maintenance costs/upsell to change the leaks/breaks, etc...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It could be a re-use of 3/y parts for a smaller vehicle, like a hatch-back. There are so many technologies we have not seen yet. Like a PM motor that does _not_ use rare-earth magnets. Might have lower performance, but also lower cost. In a lot of cases, equipment is already paid-for, so better...

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

Yesterday, upon completion of my FSD drive, the car knew I'm the only passenger, and instead of stopping near a front entrance to a local pool, it nosed in into a parking spot. FSD: 12.3.4

It got better at parking near sidewalk, especially when there is dedicated entrance. Does it impressively well at my drives to my local pool.

That computer would be capable of running an LLM doing useful stuff. I'm at awe how fast the paid version of ChatGPT is and that has some serious compute behind it. Having 2M paid-for nodes to run LLM for inquiries, chats, github copilot stuff would be a great usecase, and a profitable one too...

Same, as I started with AP1. What helped me is a) adopting "is it driving safe" approach to intervention. Yes, I am that car that sometimes takes 15 seconds to take an unprotected left, but I am no longer bothered b) chill mode, as I don't want my passengers to vomit. Even that became a little...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I stepped out for a year, and am dumbfounded with the number of care bears now cozily living in this thread. In my book, ones who have not personally tried FSD, are not real investors and their argument is not based on first principles / first hand experience.

PE for TSLA is 35, and ~37 for MSFT, and 25 for S&P 500 basket. By these measures TSLA is a screaming buy, as it is definitely not 60x.

Anecdotal, but 12.3.x had a change that has me puzzled on the end of the auto-pilot navigation, on how to turn it off. Now in 100% of the cases the action prompts the "Autopilot disengaged - what happened" prompt as if there is a problem. There is no problem, I just want to back it up into my...

Does a decision to initially not have steering wheel have to motivate the AI staff? If one thing I learnt, Tesla is great at adapting fast. They don't have to burn the boats.

Yes, there are other players in stationary storage, however, one has to be aware of the "transparency" of the markets where CN companies thrive. In a lot of countries kick-backs, even in commercial entities are the way of operation. Even non-government entities are susceptible to bribery of...

Do Not Buy “HEPA” Cabin Air Filters for Model 3

I highly recommend getting this add-on part as, described in the video. Having had a thorough clean with Kool-it, and this new clip, has solved wet filters and we're on unprecedented 4th month of stink-free cabin in PNW climate. Engineering explanation below:

CT at is also a showcase and a blueprint pull for a new 48v-centric supply chain. This supply chain build-out can't be done with a cheap vehicle, and there is enough margin in CT and guaranteed volume for suppliers to invest and get on-board. By gen3 time, we'll have 2nd or 3rd revision of 48v...

    1) Differences in business model and importance of image. What works in CN, might not work in the rest of the world. I wonder if the Nio houses are profitable anywhere beyond CN. As an investor I love how lean TSLA is on the store side and delivery, service. 1a. I wonder how are the battery...

There are multiple ways to measure temperature, and I assure you there is no constraint on thermistors. NTC thingies are super cheap, and there is no chip involved. They'd probably go with addressable digital thermistors on a single bus, but again, we're talking a dollar max per brick. 800v/4.2...

anecdotally, that price action got me to get back to a model S, now that it has a steering wheel, and I just could not pass up the fsd transfer and the price drop. Yes, a higher interest rate, but the pill was sweet enough for me to swallow. The high-spenders are definitely more cautious, and...

Dan Ives doesn't know s*it. Remember how he was uber-bullish on GM's ultium after they did their version of battery day with a school project and a large powerpoint? Liftgate Glass Rubbing

I was a bit rear-ended. A tiny dent, so when I brought up the original rubbing, they wrote it off immediately to the accident. Ended up going through the insurance, whole rear door replacement. Before that I did take a peek of what it would entail, and concluded that under-the-liner hinge mounts...

    Insurance in Washington State

Going through connect (costco) and Farmer's (the party that did rear-end my brand new model S). Model S Refresh / AQI (Air Quality Index Question) ??

I wonder if this data is easily accessible and how. Also, the nature of garages, parking spots and roads makes PM spikes quite volatile. Placing a sensor away from nearby parking diesel pickup would give less noisy data....

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

It is not TSLA who changes rates, but the banks that TSLA partners for customer convenience. Au contraire, Tesla lowered prices, so that TCO stays the same, despite higher financing charges. However I was able to secure 5.37% rate. Just for reference

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I didn't do bonds. 50% of my first Tesla was all my TSLA shares. In retrospect that turned out a $700k model S 🤷‍♂️. I take loans. Wife's one is 1.69%. Mine is 2.49%. Loan balances, again invested in TSLA. But this time I might just pay cash, transferring fsd to a 🫦 red model s.

When to submit trade-in info to Tesla

    1) Place an order when you're ready, create a Tesla account. 2) install Tesla app. In the app you'll be prompted to take pictures of your Miata. 3) you'll be prompted to describe the financial situation with your Miata (are you still paying for it, who is the bank, loan account, etc). 4) you'll...

    2017-75 vs 2023

I had a similar dilemma when I traded in my S75D. Home charge rates are 3x cheaper than SC rates for me. According to my calculations, the lifetime benefit came to be about $10k. I am not missing it on the roundtrips, as M3 charges way faster than S75D ever did.

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

We've been through this before if anyone remembers $69420 model S standard range that was for sale new. It did not affect the long-term resale trend, as they were selling for well over that at the peak of prices frenzy. I followed from sidelines as I wanted to get back into S from the model 3 I...

Please advise : used model s / new model 3 and quarterly incentives to “hold out for”.

I had a 2016 S75D (sw locked to 70 kw battery), with a sliding glass roof. It survived 6 years in Pacific Northwest rain outside without any leaks. I was afraid of earlier horrors, but the worst I got is the need to lubricate the guide rails on that. So on a facelift, seems to have been fixed. A...

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

I had both and they're different. I miss MS handling in snow, as it was more fun, and less intervening. The filter in MS was great, as mine had the filter quality sensor and I never had to smell a diesel exhaust. On Model 3 now I have to switch to recirculation in certain spots manually, e.g. on...

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

Remember to turn off recirculation before exiting the car. This dries filter faster. For filter change I recommend a thorough 15 minute soak with Kool-it 96030. Additionally I use evaporator cleaning tool to spread foam evenly (look for "evaporator cleaning tool tesla" on etsy/ebay). This helps...

Do Not Buy “HEPA” Cabin Air Filters for Model 3

I found that switching to outside air draw (i.e. turning off recirc) before parking - helps to prolong the life of the filters. This way the filter is allowed to dry using outside air. Both our Y and 3 automatically run a fan for 15-30 minutes after parking.

Do Not Buy “HEPA” Cabin Air Filters for Model 3

Yes, scientifically confirmed by my wife's frequency of odor complaints. I even designed a dispenser for pushing Kool-It right into the evaporator core. Now we can go up to 6 mo between filter changes in humid PNW climate.

Do Not Buy “HEPA” Cabin Air Filters for Model 3

I'm younger, but also with arthritis. It is quite an exercise to change these in model 3, and marginally easier in Model Y. Newer models at least have the torx bolt in the right place. Nevertheless, worth incenting a youngster/teenager to do these filter changes for a fee. Doable in 30 minutes...

Do Not Buy “HEPA” Cabin Air Filters for Model 3

Yes, these are garbage. They have "granules" of charcoal, which you visually able to see. The problem is that they are not the right density, and these filters a) let in the gasoline fumes (just follow an 80's or 90's car, or a "ricer" car). 2) they stink up earlier than properly made filters...

Not sure why my thread got deleted, retrying to create this listing anew. For sale are the evaporator cleaning tools that work great with Kool-it cleaner. This tool is inserted in place of where the old filter used to be, and are used to push the foam directly into the evaporator core. This...
