Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

It really isn't a bummer. Each of those 4 PW3s can have 3 battery expansion modules added to them. So you get a total system capacity of 46kW, 216kWh, and 24 MPPT channels. So 60% more storage than a fully built out PW2 system.

Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

I consider "legacy" vehicles ones that still have MCU1. But you can see the version that fixes the tell-tale font size recall for all the different Tesla configurations: So Tesla refers to them as Legacy with either MCU1 or MCU2. Note: As far as the NHTSA documents show Tesla has still not...

Service and communication (out of main)

And as far a how things are going service wise, I finally was able to experience that for myself today. I had an issue with my Model Y last week and went to schedule a service visit, an appointment was available in two days, but that wasn't convenient for me so I scheduled it for today. (I...

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

Well, that is the law, at least in Oregon. If you can stop "safely", you are required to stop, otherwise they can write you a ticket for failing to obey a traffic control device. (Even if you clear the intersection before it actually turns red.)

Service and communication (out of main)

It is sort of the opposite of what Henry Ford was said to have done. Where he sent people to the scrap yards to see what parts were over designed and never failed so that they could cheapen them.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I think the site is broken right now. None of their reviews load from their long term review page, and the search doesn't work at all. Here is an archived version: Why the Lucid Air Is the Best and Worst Car We’ve Ever Had

    All discussion of Rivian Automotive

I don't think Ford has actually shipped adapters yet, certainly not all of them. People that have ordered have been given expected dates as far out as September.

MY erroneously listed as salvage. Supercharging disabled and warranty voided

That isn't possible. VINs have a check digit in them, so if you change any one digit the check digit would have to change as well, so a minimum of two digits would need to change to have a valid VIN. But maybe Tesla is only looking at the serial number portion of the VIN, and not matching the...

TACC is still there, but only if you disable FSDb and go with standard AP or NOA. (FSDb v12 requires the use of the single-pull activation method.)

Out of Spec doing a Cybertruck vs. R1T vs. Lightning vs. Silverado EV cross country race. Who wins?

There are still no V4 chargers. The closest we have is the Cybertruck charging on a 750kW NACS charger at Nxu.

97 Million to build 9 Tesla Mega Charging Stations

The plans are for 8) 750kW Tesla Semi chargers and 4) chargers for other semis. So, 12 chargers per location. Using the prices that we have seen for Supercharger installations it would seem like it would be about $5 million. (8 stall Supercharger, that is ~750kW, costing about $500k, so this is...

They haven't finished editing the videos yet, but it sounds like there will be multiple videos released. (They aren't just going to announce the results, as they make their money from people watching their videos.)

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NM - 7th St

That is only about 2 miles from the Comfort Inn site, and NEVI funding is pretty much only for sites that are 50 miles from the closest NEVI compliant site. So, it seems unlikely that they would get NEVI funding for another site that is so close to another NEVI site.

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NM - 7th St

Well, the Comfort Inn upgrade is planned to be completed in June of 2025, so they have time to get another site up and running, but it won't be NEVI funded if it is in Las Vegas. (They are also using NEVI funds to upgrade the sites in Santa Rosa and Tucumcari.) It looks like they have NEVI...

    Supercharger - Las Vegas, NM

It appears that this site is about to get an upgrade through NEVI funding: They plan is to have the site upgraded in of June, 2025: Keep the existing utility infrastructure which provides the site with 774kW of power Rip out the existing 6 post V2 Supercharger installation. Install a new...

Tesla forced to open superchargers to unlock billions

Well we now know how Tesla plans to meet the NEVI 150kW minimum output requirement with V3 chargers: They have three different options depending on the site: Add additional charging cabinets (More than 1 cabinet per 4 posts.) Install fewer charging posts Apply software limits to ensure that...

    $6220 brake line?

You must have no experience with the east coast and rust belt. Where cars literally fall apart after 5-10 years from all of the salt they put down on the roads. (Teslas being mostly aluminum don't suffer as much.) Brake and fuel hard lines rust through all the time. It is a completely different...

Failed (2nd) battery 700 miles out of warranty.

A lot of manufactures put a minimum 1-year, 12k mile warranty on parts replaced under warranty. Tesla does not, the warranty specifically says there is no extension:

Failed (2nd) battery 700 miles out of warranty.

In Tesla I don't think the speed and odometer are directly connected. As the speed always reports ~1 MPH fast, but in my tests the odometer distance is always dead on. (i.e. they fudge the speed to meet NHTSA regulations of never reporting slower than actual speed, but maintain the odometer...

Failed (2nd) battery 700 miles out of warranty.

No additional warranty, you just keep the remaining warranty on the pack. (If you get your pack replaced when you only have a week left on the warranty, the replacement pack is only covered for a week.)

Recell: certified replacement battery packs for low-range/bricked Model S

I don't know, were any Model Ys made with a small 2170 based pack? Maybe the Model Y SR RWDs? (I think they were only shipped for a couple months at the beginning of 2021.)
  28. M

Recell: certified replacement battery packs for low-range/bricked Model S

Just to clarify this really only applies to Model 3 SR and Model 3 SR+ vehicles with a failed pack. (So, doesn't really belong in this Model S forum/thread.)

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

That is similar to how the Ford system currently works. (Though they use the CCS connector, so you don't have to switch any wires/connections between DC and AC usage.) It will be interesting to see how Ford does it once they switch to NACS.

    Supercharger - Rockland, ME

No, they can't. Each V3 cabinet can only output ~380kW, but can share with other cabinets. So, a two cabinet site has a total of ~760kW to split across 8 posts, or ~95kW per post if they are all in use by a hungry EV. I think Tesla might have identified only 4 stalls as NEVI funded, and they...

    Supercharger - Rockland, ME

The rules do not include 1000v. They only specify that your charger has to work in a range within 250v-920v. And Tesla works in 250-500v, so they are complaint. I still wonder about the 150kW per stall simultaneously requirement though.
  34. M

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

Nope. Even the 4) 350kW stall EA sites normally only have a ~750kW transformer. They are paired stalls, where 350kW is shared between two stalls. (They called it "balanced".) They don't have a dedicated 350kW available per 350kW stall. But that specific point was about EA only having a lease...
  35. M

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

You would still need a larger utility feed. 600kW for the 4 NEVI stalls and ~380kW fire the other 4. So, ~1000kW. Doesn't really help much.
  36. M

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

I don't think it is unreasonable for people that want to be early testers to provide their own bandwidth.
  37. M

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

Yeah, but how long are they? 5, 7, 10 year? EA could be gone in the next 2 years, before it is time to renew them. They still have a chance to making it, but the competition is coming. (Tesla, IONNA, Pilot, Travel America, EVgo, and all of the NEVI funded sites.)
  38. M

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

I doubt it. Most locations are only for 4 stalls, not big enough for Tesla where they install a minimum of 8 stalls in most locations. (Not to mention a lot of locations aren't ideal, though are still good for locals.) But probably inadequate infrastructure. If EA had 750kW service installed, I...

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

But it has been restickered, it clearly says "REMAN" right on it. Just because Tesla used to add a R# to the serial number indicating the number of times it was remanufactured, doesn't mean they still do that.
  40. M

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

Because no TeslaFi customer has that version yet. They only report versions that they see installed on the vehicles using the TeslaFi service. (There are TeslaFi customers with FSDb 12.2.1 on their vehicle.)
  41. M

Electrify America Fast Chargers - Huh?

I just checked a local EA site in Oregon: $0.56/kWh without the subscription, $0.42/kWh with. (Only 2 of the three CCS chargers are reported as working, even the L2 stall is down.) The Superchargers in the same parking lot are $0.18/kWh for NACS vehicles without a subscription or $0.15/kWh for...

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

There are two different kits, the only difference is which ECU is included. For the older vehicles the kit is just a new ECU, part number 1537264-09-B, and the CCS adapter. Issues With Installing a Charger in NJ with no offstreet parking

Huh? If you drive less than 48 miles per day L1 is fine. And you can possibly make up for extra on the weekends. Parking could possibly be an issue, but isn't in a lot of neighborhoods. (And if you are on good terms with your neighbors they might help you out.)

This is the official retrofit of model 3 CCS been announced?

It has to do with if the car has the Gen3 or Gen4 ECU. (The charge port and wiring to the pack are different. Gen4 uses a busbar, while Gen3 uses normal wires.)

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think there were rumors a long time ago that Tesla has already worked on the app portion, and while it isn't Tesla, I imagine that the Boring Co experience in running the Vegas Loop will get shared with Tesla and covers some of the basic rideshare logistics.
