    MODEL S GEARBOX OIL

Anyone have a picture of the fill/drain plug on the front drive unit? I'm preparing to do this service and the service manual does not show where they are.

    I'm going to buy a 5gl of SHC 629

Do you have any left that I can buy from you? I'm about to replace the fluid on my front and rear DUs and could not find anywhere selling this damn fluid in anything smaller than 5 gal.

How does your sunny island use AC1 and AC2? Are they inputs/outputs or bidirectional?

If you go the back feeding generator route, make ABSOLUTELY sure you have a way to island the house. Usually something as simple as an interlock kit will do the trick. Last thing you want is the grid coming back up while the generator is feeding the house.

FYI for anyone wanting to replicate my build. Jack Rickard from EVTV, the creator of the controller I'm using to interact with the modules has passed away. He ran a pretty small shop and other than his developer Collin and a couple employees he was a one man company. In other words, that...

Your sunt trip breaker should is meant to be a safety disconnect, not a control device. In other words the the inverter should control the charging and discharging via its built in settings and turn on and off accordingly. If a situation arises where the inverter either fails to stop producing...

In-development: Inexpensive Custom BMS for Tesla Battery Modules

I have my pre-charge set to 10 seconds and I've never had an issue with welded contactors, but like you said the newer versions have different contactors so that could be why. I sent you the JSON for the flow. Let me know if you have any questions.

In-development: Inexpensive Custom BMS for Tesla Battery Modules

What do you have your pre-charge setting set to? I created a NodeRed dashboard that decodes the UDP packets (same as come out of the CAN port) and that's how I get live access to the data, let me know if you want the code.

My AHJ didn't care about UL on non-grid My AHJ doesn't require UL for non-grid interactive inverters. In other words if it doesn't backfeed the grid which the sigineer does not. You can look at the SMA Sunny Island, you can parallel 2 together and get 12kW. Outback Radian also has a...

New Tesla 15.12kW Solar / 4 Powerwall order in Orlando

That's not correct. FL has them too, the rule is: if you have modules on intersecting sides of a roof face then you must have a setback of 36" (18" from the hip/valley on both sides, 36" from the ridge and 36" roof edge). If only one side has modules then you don't have to have a setback since...

    Building my own pseudo(Powerwall)

The sigineers use a 19kW ATS. That's why you're seeing the deltas in your numbers, for example my 12kW can invert 12kW when running off the battery but while on standby the ATS will bypass 19kW. Because of that you need to ensure that your wiring and breakers are rated to 19kW and not your...

    Building my own pseudo(Powerwall)

Yep, you're right. That's what I get for browsing forums when I'm supposed to be asleep. That's still 35A which is well within the limits of each module.

    Building my own pseudo(Powerwall)

You have contactors on the DC side to disconnect the battery when the voltage gets too low or too high, that's not overkill. That's best practice to prevent killing your batteries. Are you getting the discharge rate of 280A because the battery is 280Ah? If so, that is incorrect. Ah is a...

I wonder why people would want to use that mode then. The only scenario I can think of is to prevent repetitive power drops during a storm I think I will go with the Relay scheme you suggested. You mean contactor? The relay would be more for the dip switches For your 12kW inverter, did...

    - Are you still happy with it ? I am planning on buying the 15kW 48V. Wanted to check if that is still a good buy or if there are better option for a split phase 120/240v system Yea I'm still happy with the inverter, I wish it curtailed but that isn't too big of a deal. SMA now makes the Sunny...

    Building my own pseudo(Powerwall)

Nope, 36F-115F. You'd be surprised, Tesla modules have a high point of 66C (150F). Remember that in an EV they pull a lot more amps, so cooling when using them as backup for solar isn't as big of a deal. For example when supercharging they can see anywhere from 20-150kW, in my setup the most...

Hey I have no idea about UL listing requirements for batteries, My AHJ doesn't seem to care about that. I also didn't seem to see anything about it in NEC 2014 which is what my system needed to comply to. Maybe CA is more strict about these things since you guys are more serious about...

    Building my own pseudo(Powerwall)

Agreed, but Tesla will never willingly support this. For one it's a direct competition to their PowerWalls. Secondly, it means more cycles on a vehicle battery which they have to cover under a warranty which includes degradation, I have the feeling even if someone figured out how to use a Tesla...

The 12KW unit can grid charge up to 5kWh. You're correct that the min/max charge values are harcoded into the chip, take a look at post #41 on this thread to see how I got around it. I don't have the ability to set the charging current to be able to trickle charge when reaching max V so instead...

Yes, mine displays a load in percentage. I bought it last year but I have the 12kw version. I believe the remote LCD is the same for both though. You're getting more back than I am. When I enter Q1 and hit enter I can see the LCD on the remote dim for a second but there is no data coming back...

You're combining 2 separate circuits. On the picture above the transfer switch controls which breaker is providing power to the house but only one is engaged at any one time. If the R leg of the transfer switch is enabled it means the 80A is disabled. This puts the house and all the circuits...

NoA is worthless, Autopilot is essentially unimproved from 2016-2017, and everybody has caught up.

And that right there is why instead of buying out my lease on my 90D I instead bought a used P90DL. It cost me the same as buying out my lease but I got a ton more features that aren't vaporware. Whenever I see FSD working for the public and not just a YouTube video I'll upgrade again, until...

    Building my own pseudo(Powerwall)

The battery priority mode on the Sigineer won't activate until the grid fails. Essentially once you set it it'll stay using the grid until the grid goes down, at which point it'll stay off the grid until the battery is low then it'll engage the grid to charge. That wasn't a mode I wanted so I...

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

My SC said they wouldn't replace anything unless the vibration was present with the car on low (air suspension) but the SB doesn't say anything about that being a requirement.

FS: 21" Grey Turbines with tires

I have a set of staggered 21" turbines for a model S. They have a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires mounted that have about 40% life left (you can see the wear indicator in the pics). One wheel has a chip near a lug hole (from a careless tire tech) and the other has a 1/2" curb rash. Both...

Alright lots of replies here, putting them all in a single post. The Siginner doesn't have the ability to raise the freq in steps to make the GTs lower the output, it can only turn them off all together so I can't really curtail. Other inverters like the Outback Radian, SMA Sunny Island, etc...
