    Sentry mode not recording events?

I'm pretty vigilant about deleting recorded events as I usually watch them within the same day or the next and delete them after I do if there's nothing worth saving. I have saved a few that I wanted to keep until I could download onto my PC before deleting them on the USB but that was still no...

    Sentry mode not recording events?

That's the frustrating part since it always triggers when I test it but randomly doesn't when there has obviously been movement close to the car when I'm not around. I hate to schedule service for things that aren't easily repeatable but since this is going to cost us a $500 deductible and...

    Sentry mode not recording events?

Yes, I pulled the drive from the USB in the glove box and watched (on my desktop computer at home) all the video clips before and after the damage was done but there wasn't any of the damage being done.

    Sentry mode not recording events?

I would accept that as possible if it hadn't recorded cars driving by behind the car 30 minutes before we returned to the car. There are also those times when it catches people walking by with a cart when we're in a store shopping or cars driving by but didn't catch a car pulling in or out...

    Sentry mode not recording events?

I'm pissed about how intermittent Sentry works or doesn't work. I've noticed that several times in the past when reviewing recorded events, it will show cars or people near the car but I've also noticed cars that have parked next to me were gone and a different car was there with nothing...

Supercharger - Lone Pine, CA (LIVE 28 Jan 2015, multiple expansions, 16 V3 stalls)

You can always stop at any fast food you choose close to where you plan to charge, take your pee break, buy your food, and go to the supercharger to eat it while charging. There are plenty of fast food places in Lone Pine and Bishop if you don't want to walk over to the McDs in Lone Pine like...

Supercharger - Bishop, CA (LIVE 18 Nov 2020, 12 stalls)

It was about 90% full when we were there the first week of Feb. on the way back from Solana Beach.

What does 'Software Update' actually mean in the Tesla app?

In the app, when you tap where it tells you an update is available, it will say the download begins in 2 minutes and a countdown for that 2 minutes begins with a message that you can cancel before it completes. Once the download begins, it will indicate the % of completion it is at. You won't...

Is leaving Tesla plugged in while not charging really beneficial?

When we stay at our timeshare for a week, there isn't any public charging of any kind at the property. I just go to a supercharger as needed during that week and haven't ever had a problem with battery degradation. When I'm home, I plug in as needed which is usually every 4-5 days. After 4+...

    Price Cuts? WTF?

Thank goodness I paid $20k more for my MY LR that I picked up on Nov. 5. I might have gotten stuck with one of those cheap ones they're selling now...;)

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

I would put the 50A breaker back and dial the HWPC down to 40 amps. This will still give you more than the 32A the Mobile provides but not the full 48A you may be hoping for. I installed 2 NEMA 14/50s in my garage and one uses THHN and the other is NM-B in conduit since it is run exposed from...

Can you delay delivery to wait on Model Y improvements?

Did my part and bought a Model Y which we picked up on Nov.5. That was less than a month from placing the order on Oct.9 so for those that have decided to push off ordering or canceled to wait, I say thank you! I'm also long TSLA and have been since the Solar City deal and will continue to be...

    Supercharger - Reno, NV

I recently noticed the SC at the Atlantis is now charging a peak rate during certain hours. That and being crowded plus being only a 150kw charger would cause me to always choose the 250kw location anyway.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Carmel Mountain Road (LIVE 10 May 2022, 24 V3 stalls)

We've been coming to the area annually for many years until Covid caused a delay for a couple of years. After getting our Model 3 in 2018, we found Qualcomm always too busy so would go to the Urban chargers in Carlsbad or the V2 SC in Black Rock Mountain. But our most recent visit was 11/21...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Carmel Mountain Road (LIVE 10 May 2022, 24 V3 stalls)

I will be heading to that area next Saturday but doesn't look like this will be an option while there. Maybe by next year so still glad to see more going in.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Mira Mesa Blvd (LIVE 13 Jul 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

I've seen several public parking lots with signs restricting backing into spaces. It usually doesn't stop people from doing it and many times people just pull thru for the very reasons you mention so how would a parking enforcer know for sure if a car pulled thru or backed in? Probably the...

Supercharger - Bishop, CA (LIVE 18 Nov 2020, 12 stalls)

We went in there to use the restroom and I usually like to buy something when doing that so I am a customer. Bought a small pre-packaged pork crackling and chocolate wafers. Was a bit surprised that it came to $14 but I didn't complain. Probably won't be back there and others may find that...

Supercharger - Bishop, CA (LIVE 18 Nov 2020, 12 stalls)

I actually was routed to Lone Pine on my way south and when I arrived in Bishop the Nav re-routed me to the Bishop SC. It was fine and I wanted to try it anyway but could have made it to Lone Pine with plenty to spare. Now that the software has been updated, I'll be curious to see which it...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Mira Mesa Blvd (LIVE 13 Jul 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

Just finished a week-long stay in Solana Beach. During that time, I charged at this location several times and found it very convenient for our needs. Restrooms in Target plus many places to eat in the area. Charge times were excellent and only once did I see the request to limit my charge to...

Setting time for precondition schedule glitch?

Before this problem started, I always started my scheduled time at 11 pm. My Time of Use rates for EV charging where I live is between 10 pm to 6 am. I find that 11 pm usually would charge to the level I desired when starting by 11 pm but it won't allow me to change it off of 12 am. That will...

    Android Update?

I do the same but when in traffic, there are always those jerks that cut in front to fill the gap or rushing up to my rear while slowing to take a corner. Guess if I have to wait longer then so be it.

    Android Update?

Just curious, I've been on 98 since getting it, what areas are you being dinged on the most? Mine seems to be following too close, hard corning, and occasional hard braking. I look at my daily scores going all the way back and the best I've ever achieved is 99. Not once have I gotten to 100...

    Android Update?

I held down on the app on the phone and when it displayed a pop-up for app info, I tapped that, then advanced features then version. That brought up the update option so selected it and it went to the Play Store and did the update. I had been trying it that way before but it had just become...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Del Mar Heights Road (CLOSED 16 Sep 2021, 18 urban stalls)

With the pandemic causing us to push back dates for our usual annual trips to that area, we will have never been able to even use these. From the comments of those that have, seems like we aren't missing anything.

Supercharger - Lone Pine, CA (LIVE 28 Jan 2015, multiple expansions, 16 V3 stalls)

From Reno (which isn't far from Tahoe), I usually prefer heading east and go thru Hawthorne, NV, Tonopah, Beatty, then hit Las Vegas. Even when I travel to San Diego, I go thru Hawthorne on 95 then hit 6 back over to 395 on down to Lone Pine, etc. This route helps me avoid winter road issues...

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

Just use a 50amp breaker. I ran mine to a 14-50 outlet which is rated for 50amps anyway and I use my mobile charger that came with my car which only charges at 32amps and is plenty for overnight charging.

    Report Supercharger Damage?

I would contact roadside assistance. I've only done that once and they called me back to understand the problem I was having and by the time they called, it had been resolved. Don't know if that would work in all cases but worth a try.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Mira Mesa Blvd (LIVE 13 Jul 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

How's that Nov. construction looking? We had planned to be in the area by the end of Nov. but my Dad passed and it's looking more like the end of Jan. now. This would be a welcome SC when we are there as we frequent that area while staying.

Supercharger - Reno, NV - Sierra St.

Glad to hear this. With the downtown businesses struggling to survive right now, it would be counterproductive to make visitors feel unwelcome.
  42. JeffnReno

Supercharger - Lone Pine, CA (LIVE 28 Jan 2015, multiple expansions, 16 V3 stalls)

I hope this location will be open when we head thru there in a couple of months. We usually plug in, walk over to McDonald's for fast food and restroom break, and by then the charge is enough to continue. If the food has to be consumed in the car, we could hit the drive-thru and eat while...

    HPWC/breaker almost caught fire...thoughts?

The properly sized panel, correct breaker for the panel/load, properly gauged wires, clean tight connections, check/double-check/triple- check everything, and don't die in your sleep while your car is charging. Press on breakers are known to loosen when cycling them and always use 2 hands when...

Supercharger - Reno, NV - Sierra St.

I haven't been downtown since the shutdown of the casinos but it seems like I read up tread that they have an alternate entrance to access the superchargers without going thru the closed parking garage. If I go anywhere close to there, I'll swing by and check it out.

2020.12.5.6: Traffic Light & Stop Sign Control

The word "may" is key to understanding that. If someone bought a new car that came with this feature, they might need to be reminded that some AP and FSD features won't be available until the cameras are calibrated. It doesn't say "recalibrated" as it should if the new feature required it.

2020.12.5.6: Traffic Light & Stop Sign Control

It seems inconsistent to me from my own experience. A road I drive on to and from our development doesn't limit speed in TACC in either direction but if I go into FSD, it limits me to my set +5 mph in one direction and drops it to the exact limit the other. That usually results in me using FSD...

Got in accident and at-fault insurance company denies claim

I believe you are supposed to tap the camera icon on the screen and it is supposed to save the last 10 sec or so in a separate file. I haven't tried it yet and hope I never actually need to use it but guess it would be good to try it out before really needing it.

Trip Report: Reno, NV (Presidents Day Weekend 2020)

Great travel experiences like this make me want to hit the road more often. Since we live in Reno, our trips are usually going west and back but the same roads and some of the same stops apply so its nice to read of other owners' experiences.
