Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

510 text response told me my car finished being built at 1:12 PM EST today, which was probably the exact time I my VIN and MVPA generated in app. So the rest of the time is train and truck to MD from Fremont.

Model X Tires - Replacement Miles

It's anyone's guess but I saw the other forum member who obviously drives more miles than I had gone through them in about the same miles as the OEM, 30Kish, in a year I think it was. We shall see, but for less than half the price I will be OK getting 30K out of these. Funny that they come...

It's official! Tesla website says HW2.0 cars "scheduling now" for MCU2 upgrade!

Mine was completed a week ago in Tysons Corner VA. They started on Thursday and needed a part for my MCU1 upgrade AP2 to 3 only install. It arrived Saturday but SC is not open on weekends since covid. It was competed Monday. Had they had the part, maybe a one day job if your lucky.

Model X Tires - Replacement Miles

simpletire They popup an offer for 10% off if you sign up for email. Shipping was fast, but some developer thought it would be nice to offer text and email updates every time FedEx updates the tracking record. Just ignore them for 2 or 3 days and your tires will arrive at the SC or other...

Model X Tires - Replacement Miles

My original Contis just got replaced at 32K and 3.5 years. I probably could have pushed them to 35K+, but the car was in for AP2 to 3 upgrade and the SC offered an alignment with install for $160 even though I had tires delivered to them for $570, Nexen N'Fera RU5 Korean tires someone...

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

6-9am October-May, 2-7pm June-Sept The sun is good enough most days to power the house and still send extra to the PW by 7:45am, worst case was 8:30am in December. There is always enough sun in both periods except obviously on very cloudy days to charge the battery for these 6-9am peak needs...

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

Does anyone have an idea why my system does not act like this even though I want it to? I have tesla solar and 3 powerwall2s installed 2 years ago, TOU in Maryland for 1 year, we have only peak and off-peak periods. App is set to Cost Saving and 80% reserve. During peak time the solar goes to...

Is MCU 2 the most important feature when shopping for a used Tesla?

Regarding the MCU1 Tesla design flaw. It has been reported in other threads that the official Tesla eMMC repair (as in MCU1 refurb replacement) is now $1300 including labor. The logging that was killing all of our chips is reduced now, but music streaming will still have an impact on the...

Model X IRS 100% Deduction “Hummer Loophole” - 2018 Edition

Would there be any additional penalty prior to 5 years for the section 179, or it's just simple recapture of the sold value minus the depreciation not taken yet?

Model X IRS 100% Deduction “Hummer Loophole” - 2018 Edition

What if anything changes after the car is 5 years old and fully depreciated and gets sold? In 2017 there was the 25K section 179 and bonus depreciation, but it wasn't 100% back then.

    Likely MCU Failure (MCU1 eMMC)

That is exactly my plan. I do have the latest software with logging reduced. If it somehow lasts another 15 months without warranty replacement, then it will be in the mail to you that day. In the meantime, I just need to listen to more music and start logging with TeslaMate I guess :).

    Likely MCU Failure (MCU1 eMMC)

I had a blackout 2 weeks ago which would not reboot until the 6th try. It was during a new update install so Tesla blamed that. Just before that I had the scrambled video over the whole climate control popup. I could still make changes to the AC if I remembered where the buttons were, but it...

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

I believe Tesla is just waiting for the very last MCU1 FSD paid car to die, then they will immediately announce our FSD upgrades are ready to be installed :). I am seriously hoping they do the right thing and come up with an MCU1->2 upgrade path for this as well as the should-be-a recall eMMC...

Would tesla offer incentive to AP2.0 with FSD to get new cars ?

According to my purchase agreement, I expect an equal FSD feature set as all the other (currently MCU2 only) HW3 upgraded cars in a reasonable time period from now, or a buyback. If a discounted upgrade option were presented, that would be something to consider, but I doubt it will come to...

    No Battery Performance Option

I am on HW2 MCU1. Back in early late 2016 - early 2017 we had to pay $5000 for AP2 and an additional $3000 for FSD. Since my last post I did notice my signed MVPA lists the option as "Full Self-Driving Capability" so I am hoping this means what we see on the Account car screen website means...

    No Battery Performance Option

On this same topic, I paid for FSD at purchase. and have it listed at $3K in my purchase agreement, but it does not show on my generated MVPA linked online. On this main car screen I see: Options "No Battery Performance" "Full Self-Driving Capability" Does anyone know if this means: Yes it...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

My early 2017 X was given the UV treatment in Rockville, MD SC yesterday. Same experience as others, re 4 hours. Looks good, will hope it lasts until we find out how much the UV treatment will cost out of warranty just before selling the car.

No more free unlimited supercharging for some used Tesla vehicles

Is this still a problem? Considering selling my 1/2017 X75 with 26K miles, but concerned in telling buyers about the supposed transferable FUSC. I just noticed many, but not all, Tesla CPO cars offer FUSC. Strange that some 2016 X90D have it and some don't. I also notice all new orders of X...

    Yellow Border

In my mind, this very much devalues the 4yr extended service agreements. Hard to say what if anything they would cover, so best to self-insure at this point. Luckily they are fully refundable until 4yr/50K. I will now be asking for my refund of $4800 and using $1300 of it once I am convinced...

    PEPCO electrical rates - MD

Yes, Maryland has a rebate program for Energy Storage Systems. It is 30% up to $5K for residential or $75K commercial, but there is a hard cap of $750K per year with no carryover. Of that $750K, they will allocate $225K to residential projects. Have a look here: Energy Storage Tax Credit...

    PEPCO electrical rates - MD

Noting has changed to my knowledge in terms of Pepco metered rates being unavailable. On the battery credit, I may be lucky enough to get it as the MD Energy Dept set aside 225K of the 750K for residential projects. My Tesla Solar w/ PowerWall install completed Jan 29th, and the application...

Going to pass on AWD to get my Model 3 sooner, anyone else doing the same?

Haven't been checking mine, but I just did, and I notice my AWD estimate moved back 2 months as well. It is now June - August. There is an advantage to waiting I don't see many mentioning... build quality and sometimes even features will improve. I will probably just go cheap and grab the...

    2” hitch receiver

Not sure what the SC was meaning, but there is nothing special physically they add for Tow options other than a single piece hitch itself inside the bumper. The better 3rd party hitch costs less than $150 online. If you don't want to remove the bumper yourself, find a good body shop and ask...

    Supercharger - Aberdeen, MD

Charged at Aberdeen Saturday night. The rest stop is smaller but similar to Newark. The biggest advantage for Newark being the external Starbucks with sandwiches, so close to the chargers. Either way, great to have additional options and capacity.

    Draw-Tite Aftermarket Receiver Package

I just sent my draw-tite hitch replaced original Tesla metal bumper beam to the local recycling center. The replacement beam is much more rigid for better or worse, but probably about the same as the factory tow hitch beam.

    Draw-Tite Aftermarket Receiver Package

This is my setup for a hitch rack that can also carry 4 bikes. My inventory car did not have anything for towing, so I found the Draw-Tite and installed it. It seems all MX come with the wiring harness if you choose to use it for brake lights and or brake controller. I am not planning on...

    2” hitch receiver

I was rather late to install it, thanks to Tesla Service taking 4 repeat visits to fix alignments in my driver door and trunk hatch, but I finally installed it a week ago. All went well, and it took about 2 and half hours to complete with a friend. We didn't even need the plastic trim tools...

Post Pictures of HPWC Installations (Residential and Commercial)

My dual HPWC install. I think I must have been the only Tesla customer to buy the 8.5' cords. I figured if it was good enough for the Supercharger stalls, then it was good enough for me. I also had the thought that less cable allows for less heat/loss, but I imagine that is negligible for 17'...

Queue position effect of Day 1 M3 orders delayed due to later availability of $35K model?

Sorry to say that Tesla keeps your $3500 deposit if you walk away for any reason. It was $5000 for Model X reservation holders, and some had this happen to them, described here on TMC. Who knows, maybe they change this for Model 3, but I would not assume so.

75 kWh vehicles received an update and now have improved performance

Tesla Email: Tesla Updates August 2017 --> "In addition, new Model S and Model X 75 kWh vehicles received an over-the-air software update and now have improved performance, with the ability to accelerate from zero to 60 mph one second faster." Poll: 81% of Prospective Model 3 Owners Say They Won’t Pay Upfront For Full Self-Driving

5-10 years to stop at stop signs and red lights, and to make surface street turns? I expect these are what us FSD folks expect to wake up to within a year or two. We'll see.

Poll: 81% of Prospective Model 3 Owners Say They Won’t Pay Upfront For Full Self-Driving

I think the question is do you want to sign up to be a test pilot for $3K. When I had to decide for my recent inventory X last day of quarter sale, I chose FSD. Now I can be that guy at parties telling stories about the current state of autonomous driving :). I don't think I will be sleeping...

I’m looking to buy a tesla...

That sounds low even for a 2012 Model S. Have you seen and touched them? When I was searching for a used S, I noticed no shortage of scammers on Craigslist, and even their fake ads asked more than 20K :). Perhaps if the car had 150K+ miles and a rebuilt title. Be careful and happy hunting.

For Sale: Tesla Model X 75D (Dec 2016 Build) with EAP and 12k miles - $75k

Pictures would presumably help sell this car. I assume this has "transferable" free supercharging, therefore it will make the perfect Uber Black car after a little more depreciation and superchargers showing up all over the place. I wonder if my similar white X could one day be used as an Uber...

    I didn't expect to pay $35,000 for a model 3

Plus the up to $3,000 excise tax credit in Maryland as of last month. As for EAP and FSD, many will not opt for that including my wife in her Model 3. I love EAP in my X, but it is not for everyone at this very early stage. It is certainly not considered a base feature in any car, so not sure...

    PEPCO electrical rates - MD

Turns out the Maryland battery credit is basically a farce. Commercial projects can get 75K of the annual 750K allotment. That means 10 projects are already waiting to grab all the money I presume. Maybe they will allow a couple residential 5K projects to sneak in on January 2nd at 9:01am...

    PEPCO electrical rates - MD

As I switched to Pepco supply just in time for them to cancel the metered ev plan last year, I now charge my car in the middle of the day to make it hurt just a little :). On the positive side, I think Pepco has convinced me to install a 25kW solar system with powerwalls from Tesla Energy. If...

Yes, you are correct about the thermal jacket being from the January 2017 program, and my non-thermal jacket (received last Fall) was from the July 2016 ending program. If you are missing a jacket from the October16 ending program, then something must be wrong, and you should use the referral...
