AP1 - Can it back into a garage to self-park?

Yes it can summon in reverse.

    Guessing this won't buff out...

That’s definitely not correct. I had a cracked windshield replaced with an insurance claim and it was reported to Carfax somehow. There was no police report. I think repair shops report. It showed up as an accident.

My S75 damaged by Tesla just days after delivery

I also don’t think this would show on Carfax....but you should set this expectation with them as well. There won’t be an insurance claim and I doubt the body shop reports work they do for Tesla.

My S75 damaged by Tesla just days after delivery

First...that’s unfortunate and I’m sorry to hear your experience. It’s certainly frustrating. My experience wasn’t quite like that, but I did have the service center do some paint damage to my car (down to the primer) when it was a couple months old. They fixed it and I couldn’t see any evidence...

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

Nope. When I bought my Volt, I drove one block before realizing the heat/AC didn't work. I went back and they couldn't fix it right away so I went home with a loaner. It turned out to be a wiring issue they fixed the next day and I never had a problem afterwards.

    Open Letter to Elon Musk

I agree with the comments above, but my question is what leads the OP to believe simulation is not being used? There seems to be evidence they are using simulation, such as this job posting for an Autopilot Simulation Engineer. Furthermore, I think it's dangerous NOT to include shadow driving...

Got New Primacy Tires on the Rear and now Car handles Weird...

Actually, we have two Model S’s with 19 inch wheels. One pre-refresh 2015 with Michelin Primacy tires and the other post-refresh 2016 with Goodyear Eagle Touring tires on the new wheels. The Goodyear’s have far less road noise...assuming that isn’t somehow related to the newer wheels. Edit: and...

Thanks. That explains the surprisingly large jump in range from 90D to 100D.

    Faster 75?

That’s my guess. If so, I’m certain there was a hush clause included. I say this so the OP doesn’t have to if that’s the case.

Level 3 Autonomy - In Production

I’d be more impressed if they said it was a bug they would work out before delivery. In practice I’d be annoyed if that was expected behavior. I would want it to fall back to level 2 control rather than asking me to take over.

    Miles out of a S90D

Could you provide a source for 81800Wh? That seems like a lot less than I’d expect for a battery advertised as 90kwh.

Level 3 Autonomy - In Production

It doesn’t seem to follow this bias at other parts of the video. Look at 4:31. The car stops right in the middle...much further to the right than the car in front of it.
  14. chipmunk

Level 3 Autonomy - In Production

Your argument would be more compelling if he didn’t immediately take over and steer away from the guardrail. The car hadn’t been hugging the guardrail until it beeped and started steering towards it. Of course my AP1 Model S has done similar....I’m not trying to claim it wouldn’t....but not in...

    Miles out of a S90D

Interesting. You should definitely get more range, but you should get more input from Phoenix dwellers....perhaps it’s the cabin overheat protection cooling the car all day if you park in the sun? Maybe that energy use doesn’t get reported? You could try turning that feature off for a few days.
  16. chipmunk

Level 3 Autonomy - In Production

The truly comical part is that when it was veering and asked him to take over, he literally just finished a sentence explaining that level 3 is different because with level 2 you have to be prepared to take over immediately. Edit: I guess I said the same thing a little differently

    Miles out of a S90D

But for comparison, I also have a refreshed 90D with 19” wheels (not the car in my profile photo). Trip A was a road trip from Southern California to Seattle, and then you can see my lifetime trip which I’ve never reset. I live in a more moderate climate, but my daily driving is harsh on...

    Miles out of a S90D

I don’t understand your point. Are you bragging? The battery wasn’t full after the last charge as it shows 50kwh have been used. If you had used an entire 90kwh at that efficiency... 170.3 miles / 50 kWh used * 90 kWh capacity = 306.54 miles which is past the 294 rated range. That’s great!

    Problems setting up Homelink

My experience with the limit on the number of links is that it will drop the oldest one, but new remotes/cars should still pair. I also had the incompatibility issue and had to get an external secondary receiver from the manufacturer. I called them about the problem and they sent it for free.

    California: White Clean Air sticker

Yeah...that's a big difference. Cars with stickers issued on 12/31/2016 will get access for 2 years, vs 5 years for those issued 1/1/2017. In my case, procrastination has paid off. I have a 2016 that I just requested my stickers for. :)

Just made a second reservation for a Model 3!!!!

Well, there's actually a way to settle this. Somebody with more time and determination than I have can take pictures of the usage maps in the car at various times to see how frequently all stalls are in use. What I can say is that I just completed my first long road trip in my Model S 90D from...

    California: White Clean Air sticker

It also looks like the wording around income caps has been revised and fixed my concern about being prevented from getting a sticker if you got a rebate in the past and are now over the income limit. It seems that clause now only applies to rebates issued for cars purchased after January 1, 2018.

Karma Revero...the worst review of a vehicle or product ever

It's certainly negative, but also kinda spot on. I'm glad to read that even the Karma reps admitted it's meant to be a 3rd car for people who just wanna cruise around. There are really no practical reasons to buy a Revero. It's not quick, or spacious, or efficient, or sporty, or inexpensive...

Tesla hurt their own profits by putting wimpy chargers in 3's.

Slow charging (110V) impact on battery health ?

Absolute agree. I charge on 110v somewhat often, but all things considered I think 220v is preferable if available. Also, since the topic is longevity of the battery, you can afford to keep the battery at a lower state of charge knowing you can quickly top up when needed. I'm guessing...

    Autosteer disabled after 3hrs?

I was going to guess this too. *My friend* has had this happen twice also. You have to put the car in park to get auto steer back. To avoid this, make sure autosteer is disabled before accelerating, or, you know, stay under 90MPH. At least that's what *my friend* said. There is a brief message...

I think it has to be put in park before valet model will be enabled, right?
  33. chipmunk

Slow charging (110V) impact on battery health ?

I understand what you're saying, but parasitic loss can't account for all of that. People are seeing like a 20% variance. It would take a long time to lose that much charge in a car just sitting there unplugged and off.
  34. chipmunk

Slow charging (110V) impact on battery health ?

You should know though, that charging more slowly is generally less efficient and results in more energy being spent on running the electronics that charge the car and maintain the temperature. It's something like 80% efficient, as opposed to 90% efficient on a decent amperage 220 volt circuit...

Cadillac Super Cruise almost here - Motortrend drives it

Cadillac Super Cruise almost here - Motortrend drives it

I really hope the supposed interior camera in Model 3 will be used to stop nagging the driver if the car can determine his/her eyes are still on the road.

Cadillac Super Cruise almost here - Motortrend drives it

As I understand, the 15 second nag is only if your eyes aren't on the road for that long. I think that's better than today when I have to keep looking AWAY from the road to see if my Tesla is nagging me to put my hands on the wheel. You really should have your eyes on the road every 15 seconds...

Assuming you have a Tesla - S, X, or 3 - what would you want as a second vehicle?

Another Tesla (have two now). This decision was cemented by asking the following question when shopping for the second car: What car would make you want to drive it somewhere instead of the Tesla? The answer is obvious.

    California: White Clean Air sticker

Sorry, I just re-read your post and the bill again and I see your point about income at the time of the rebate. Now though, add the fact that I received a CVRP rebate in 2016 while my income was over the current limits, but before the limits were enacted in November 2016. If I buy a car next...

My problem is...I'm over the limit now. So does the fact that I received a rebate in 2013 for a Volt I bought when I was under the limit now preclude me from receiving carpool stickers for a car I buy next year? I honestly don't understand the point the the language. You already can't get a...

    19'' wheels

Not directly. Per this thread, tire size on Model 3 is 235/40R19, and on Model S it's 245/45R19. These two have different tire diameters. This is ignoring potential differences in wheel offset and width.

Home Charging - What do I need to do/buy?

As others mentioned, I think that was a temporary glitch. I recall the time you're mentioning when you couldn't by an adapter for a 30-amp circuit, however they started selling the 14-30 adapter again maybe a year ago and I think the 10-30 followed.
