Can Gen 3 Wall connector charge non Tesla brand EVs in Australia?

I have tested my gen 2 with the dip switch set to legacy and the Volvo just gives the error. I spoke to Tesla support about it and they confirmed that the early gen 2 units that shipped with the model S and X supported legacy mode, but the model 3 supplied units were locked.

Can Gen 3 Wall connector charge non Tesla brand EVs in Australia?

Yes, that's the option that I was referring to in my original post. He doesn't actually test it though.

Can Gen 3 Wall connector charge non Tesla brand EVs in Australia?

We just became a two EV household, with a Model 3 and a new Volvo XC40 Recharge. Unfortunately the Gen 2 wall connector that came with the Model 3 doesn't support non Tesla vehicles so I need to replace it with something that does. My options appear to be to upgrade to the Gen 3 wall connector...

    TeslaFi vs TeslaMate

I got TeslaMate up and running a month or so ago but after a while it started spewing timeout issues and stopped working. I attempted to look at the code to trace the issue but didn't feel like learning another language so I just turned the docker containers off and will look at it again another...

JEDA USB HUB & Wireless Charging Pad - Poor Customer Service for Australia

It took a month for my order to ship back in September. The charging pad was in stock, but it took 4 weeks for them to get stock of the hub. Automated communication of order state is non existent, but they are quite responsive if you email them. I think they are a small business with very few...

Making homelink work In equipped model S/X/3

It uses the standard rolling code algorithms as a Chamberlain, Merlin, B&D or other HomeLink compatible receiver. So not as secure as say an ATA TriCode128 controller, but not easy to spoof either.

Making homelink work In equipped model S/X/3

I am using one of these with my non homelink roller door. Ditec Receiver You can find exactly the same receiver a lot cheaper on eBay out of China, but I wanted it quickly.

That’s not profit margin you see, that’s them under reporting the actual value to avoid customs charges on the receiving end.

Where did you connect the 12V power? Does it start working again after you wake up the car? How did you secure it to the bumper and have you checked if it is still held in place?

    Jeda USB group buy

Apple already have USB-C to lightning cables, they just don’t come in the box. You can always pick up a couple of USB-C to type a adaptors, or alternatively a couple of USB-C to micro USB cables for your controllers. With everything moving from type a to USB-C these day they won’t go to waste.

    Jeda USB group buy

Err.. yes, I meant to say LHD. I always have a few USB-C cables with my MacBook Pro, so if I have my laptop bag in the car and I want to charge my watch, headphones, power bank, etc I can plug the USB-C cables directly into the hub without needing to find an adaptor. They don’t do USB-C power...

    TeslaFi vs TeslaMate

The API is neither open nor documented. It has been reverse engineered by smart people and unofficially documented. Tesla hasn’t stopped third parties from using it, but it doesn’t mean they won’t in future if it presents a problem to their future plans

    Jeda USB group buy

I decided to do some testing today of my Jeda kit and as expected the Jeda charging pad only supports Qi BPP and not Qi EPP which Apple recently started requiring in order to charge at more than 5W (for safety and interference reasons). So if you use an iPhone the charging pad will only charge...

    Jeda USB group buy

I have had my Jeda Wireless Pad and Hub for about a month, delivery took about 3 weeks because they were on back order. I would highly recommend the hub to anyone, it’s very well designed and made. The charging pad is excellent as well, and I chose it because I wanted landscape support and an...

It's not from the closing force.. the opening force while the hood is still latched is likely to be the cause. If the hood hinges were not sufficiently tightened, or got bent from the force of attempting to open multiple times with the hood still latched it might explain it. Remember those...

I had to mod the hood brackets on mine when I installed it. Only needed to give it about 1mm of extra movement upwards, took 30 seconds with a dremel. You can’t see the holes once you refit the brackets to the hood, but I touched them up with black paint anyway. The trick to getting the...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

It will cost a bit extra, but you could get an electrician to install a 32A 3 phase outlet on both sides of the garage and put a 3 phase plug on the wall charger (or single phase if that's what you have). Then you can hang the HPWC on the wall, and move it to either side of the garage depending...

Yes, I have been talking to them in China via WhatsApp, I’m not in the US, but I don’t expect them to work weekends either so I wasn’t expecting anything from them yet. I just wanted to confirm with others here that there is an issue with the frunk kit on some cars that has no verified solution...

Group Buy for Power Trunk/Frunk Liftgate!

My kit has the same issue, the struts don’t have the same travel as the factory struts and prevent the hood from closing fully. Car is a 2019-07 build. I suspect Tesla may have changed the hood strut mounting brackets on recent builds in a way that doesn’t work with the Hansshow kit. I messaged...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

On the basis that the motor in the model 3 is physically capable of bringing the car to a complete stop without using the friction brake. Just because Tesla don’t currently do it doesn’t mean it physically can’t.
  27. Q

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Not true, by applying torque in the opposite direction the motor in the 3 can bring the car to a complete stop without using the brakes, it just can’t do it using regen alone.
  28. Q

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Guessing is basically how AI / machine learning work, they are just very well trained guesses, and in this case they are used to determine where the road goes based on what the camera sees. There is logic layered over the top of that, but it makes decisions based on what the AI thinks it sees...
  29. Q

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

The car tries to keep in the centre of the lane, if it loses the left line marking it doesn’t know how wide, or how many lanes there are anymore and has to guess. This usually works well for intersections and lane splits / merges, but sometimes it guesses wrong.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

My battery degradation is currently sitting at "I don't know" and will stay that way since I enabled "don't worry about things you can't change" mode (ie. set display to energy % instead of distance, charge as per the user manual and don't over think it).

They are the right way up. It happens when the lid is almost completely closed. The very top of the strut just rubs on the seal, but as it turns out, only on one side.

Deep cycle AGM batteries can usually handle up to 15V absorption voltage, but it should drop to 13.8V once the battery is charged.

My factory standard struts rub that seal on the back window when the lid closes, you have to look from the right angle to see it, but it happens.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

There are no bulbs, just LEDs and reflectors, the beam pattern is very flat and the difference between high and low beams is which emitters are turned on. Apparently the Model S & X in europe can use gps location to adapt the headlight pattern / aim to the side of the road you are driving on...
  37. Q

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

If they are smart they would have a single front headlight with a simple way of inverting the beam pattern for left and right hand drive so they don't have to stock two different parts, they are LED after all so it could be as simple as inverting which emitters run brighter than others. Every...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

When I toured the factory in Freemont a few years ago (pre Model 3 days) they had LHD and RHD models being built one after the other on the same line, you could tell they were building for different regions too because some cars were fitted with different tail lights.

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Volvo currently do free OTA (WiFi) updates of apps and map data, our XC60 gets them regularly, but I think system software updates still require a dealer visit.
  40. Q

    Volvo XC40 EV?

Pilot Assist in my wife’s 2018 XC60 isn’t as good as AP in my Model 3. It is pretty comparable to basic AP on the highway, but unlike AP it doesn’t slow down for corners and can be a little slow to react to sharp bends if used on regular streets. While it may not be as good as AP, it’s still...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Yes, I have AU-2019.24-10589. Do you have decent wifi and internet speed where the car gets parked? Map updates are typically very large and last I heard do not update over LTE, only wifi.
  46. Q

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Tesla don’t use the dns server provided by DHCP, and you can’t set it to a custom server, so this approach is unlikely to work without some specially configured equipment.
