Yes, you can view if your car has the CCS-capable board on your info screen. I would guess it will work fine on S&X as well, I meant the adapter doesn't allow the charger to work if you have an older charge port board.

I just confirmed, firmware 161 works! I just tested one setec after another, older firmware stops charging right at the end of handshaking with charger error, switch to setec with 161 and it successfully charges. HOWEVER, setec still does not detect the CCS latch button, so I expect Tesla to...

I performed tests today and confirmed the actual issue with the SETEC: Normally, pressing the latch release button on a J1772 and CCS handle stops charging, before you have a chance to pull the connector out. But this does not occur with the Setec! I thought this sent a signal to the charger...

The SETEC definitely identifies itself as Chademo to the car but it must not be doing a perfect job of emulating the Tesla Chademo adapter. And even if it was, yes, all charge connectors report their serial numbers to the car so it could be that simple as well. But there is more smarts and...

Wax and ceramic coatings do not stop rocks. Winters and sandy roads are murder on cars front ends around here, and with teslas they often kick up to their quarter panels as well. I've had clear bras on my last 4 cars, and the tesla I did the entire front end. I'll probably do the whole car next...

Well if the chademo adapter still works, then setec can do a better job of impersonating it and things should work again.

Does anyone have a Tesla Chademo adapter? Does it still work after the update? Remember the Setec presents itself as chademo. These cars have no knowledge of CCS (at least pre-2020)

Not confident, but I do believe Tesla can push firmware updates to the wall adpaters/chargers/chademo through the chargeport comms when they are plugged in to the car.

The Chargeport ECU board which handles all the communications (on the inside wheel fender) would need to be replaced, and not sure if the car reprogrammed as well. These boards included CCS PLC hardware in european cars (not sure when they started...much earlier), then it was found in late 2020...

Great to hear that news. But a tesla adapter is only going to work with 2021+ Teslas with CCS PLC communications hardware. Setec will still be the answer for those with older cars.
