    How would you handle this...

Well good news! I went to the community center this morning as I had a meeting there. I saw all of the chargers were empty and thought that was super odd. So I plugged my car into one to see if they were down or something but nope, they were working. What changed was they are now enforcing fees...

Left front fender camera error - anyone else have this?

I’ve not ever received this error while driving at night. It happened twice on my 2022 Model 3 and the picture goes full black. Tesla replaced them both. I’ve not ever had this error come up either while driving and the camera just sees the road. That response from Tesla sounds janky but not at...

Wall Connector - Solid Red Light

It could be something as benign as a bad signalling issue between the Taycan and the Wall Connector. Reset the breaker and if the WC comes back online then just keep an eye on the next charging session and subsequent ones to see if you can identify any conditions that might have caused it to go...

    M3P: Trade or sell?

$46k plus the taxes saved on the trade-in works out to be around $51,980. Not sure if you considered that or not.

    Mobile Broadband/Hotspot/MIFI?

I use hotspot from my phone with my Model 3 but I have an automation setup on my phone to turn the hotspot on when I connect to the car and off again when i disconnect from it. This way it’s seamless for me. FYI

    37k, Km’s brake service

Routine brake servicing is absolutely something you should get done. The cash grab part was Tesla now charging like ~$400 CAD for that service now when it was previously less than half of that. Any mechanic shop can do this as there is nothing special about Tesla brakes. It’s a fairly simple...

    Horn stopped working

That happened to mine when it was dying. It would come back in warmer temps then die again when it got colder.
  9. Tony_YYZ

    Horn stopped working

One tone died in my old 2018 as well. Sounded like it was honking at that point. Mobile service replaced it pretty quickly.

    How would you handle this...

I understand your position. In my neighbourhood there is a relatively new community center. Others and myself campaigned to get EV chargers installed there since it was a brand new building going up and the town actually listened and did it! We have 8 Chargepoint level 2 units there. But now...

    Model 3 Wiper blades

Lol don’t even bother with that person. They seem to believe Tesla makes their own blades. A fool and his money….
  12. Tony_YYZ

    Big decision....

The Tesla Owners Club of Ontario has been promoting this level of insurance for the past through months through a sponsor vendor. Here are the details. PM me if you want any further info. The Club would like to inform you that we now have a new sponsor offering an extended warranty program for...

    Model 3 Wiper blades

    Lol ok.
  14. Tony_YYZ

    Model 3 Wiper blades

Are you being purposely obtuse or just blind to all things Tesla? The Tesla OEM blades ARE the same Bosch units, with a markup. There is no point in paying more for the same product.

Supercharging growth lagging compared to sales

Correct. V2’s go up to 150 KW and V3’s are up to 250 KW

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

My wife and I both work from home and TOU (not ULTOU) still works out to be cheaper for me. I check my HydroOne portal monthly to see how close it was to the Tiered rate and it’s always about $10-$15 cheaper. This includes me using HVAC and even running the dishwasher most days after 11am and...

    All Weather Mats

I use Tuxmats in my 3 & Y. The Mats in the 3 have held up since 2018 with no issues. The ones in the Y are their newer design/material and have also help up wonderfully. They are great for containing all the salt over the winters and keep it off the majority of the carpets.

Which TPMS sensors work for 2021 Model 3?

All 2021+ Model 3s use the Blutetooth sensors. It was done at the start of the 2021 model year changeover.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

That price is absurd. They really weren’t kidding around when they said they will start making service and Superchargers a profit center.
  20. Tony_YYZ

Non Tesla DC chargers are really expensive!

Supercharging is crazy expensive today. I saw this week that the Mississauga SC tops out at $0.64/kWh. Oof.

Failed heat pump and supermanifold, out of warranty - $ouch

Keep it going until it’s nearly out of battery warranty. Like you said, you’ll be getting less out of a new one (aside from the MCU update) and your cost/dollar will be better with running your current one longer. But yeah, all the 2020/earlier 2021 owners should have had that heat pump/super...

Has anyone installed Gen 3 Wall Connector in Ontario (Canada)?

Again, however your installer/inspector ’interpreted’ it is incorrect. They made a bad call based on not understanding what they were reading. Since the ESA has been certifying Gen 3 installs for years now, there is very clear precedence that anyone who interpreted the same way as your...
  23. Tony_YYZ

Has anyone installed Gen 3 Wall Connector in Ontario (Canada)?

Your electrician has given you incorrect information. Like I said, there are hundreds/thousands of certified Gen 3 installs done already. If what your electrician told you was true then none of those installs could have happened.
  24. Tony_YYZ

Has anyone installed Gen 3 Wall Connector in Ontario (Canada)?

Yeah it’s not that ESA would not allow the install of Gen 3’s they specifically did not allow load sharing. There are hundreds if not thousands of Gen 3 wall connectors installed throughout Ontario without issue. The ESA has/had prehistoric rules that interfered with Gen 3 load sharing since...

You didn’t post the price. :p

Model y OEM steering wheel fit model 3?

The wheel would fit but the heating element will not. There is an updated steering wheel module that is needed to control the heating element. But that still won’t do you any good since the software function to turn the wheel heat on/off won’t be available in your car. And as a previous comment...

Tesla called and offered to transfer my free Supercharging to a new vehicle

Historically, Tesla has told customers in this situation to go kick rocks. The only exception I’ve seen with this was with the recent FSD transfer. Close to the end of Sept they pivoted and said if you ordered before Sept 30 they will honour the transfer even if you take delivery after the...

$4,600 for burned out headlights, any alternatives?

$4k for a burnt out low beam bulb?? That sounds like they want to replace the entire assembly at least which is still a massive ripoff. That price for one headlight is just insanely bad. You will need a new D3S HID bulb and possibly the ballast if it is also bad. They are relatively...

Tesla called and offered to transfer my free Supercharging to a new vehicle

All current Tesla models max out at 48 amp charging on level 2 except for the Model 3 RWD which tops out at 32 amps.
  30. Tony_YYZ

Tesla called and offered to transfer my free Supercharging to a new vehicle

I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of these tactics in the future. After the last earnings call it’s pretty clear they are pulling demand levers more rapidly now. Margins per unit are way down so they need to make up volume now. They pulled the FSD transfer demand lever in Q3 and now Q4 has the FUSC...

The Dual Handle design is a dead giveaway it’s in Europe. Those stations have CCS2 and Mennekes/Type 2 connectors.

    I done did it again…

Haha, that’s amazing! Congrats! Yeah the service experience between the two is worlds apart. Not to say Porsche services doesn’t have its own issues sometimes but for the most part they regard you as an actual person rather than a rando behind an app.

    FSD Subscription

    Nobody knows, unfortunately.
  36. Tony_YYZ

    I done did it again…

ha, they sucked you back in! Congrats on the purchase. In your shoes I would have gone for the Taycan. It’s soooo nice. Regarding your winter wheels, many owners are running their old 19” S wheels on their refresh from what I’ve read over time on TMC.

Damage to rocker panel - GTA

Leon’s Autobody is one of the Tesla authorized shops. They fixed a delivery day blemish on my first Model 3 back in 2018.
  38. Tony_YYZ

    New Model 3

My suspicion as to why they offered the FSD transfer was because they forecasted a massive deop in Q3 sales. This is probably due to an upcoming re-tooling of the Fremont factory to support the Highland redesign. If we saw the redesigned units being sold in NA by Q4 2023 I would be very surprised.
  39. Tony_YYZ

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

Tesla vehicles definitely do not support V2G/V2L as of today. That commenter is misinformed with believing the CCS to NACS adapter will be sufficient.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

    I’m fairly certain no Model 3s have HW4. Only S, X, Y.

Why Tesla trade-in price extremely low?

Ah, ok. I had once seen them provide a trade estimate to someone that was super low but what they failed to communicate was that was the price to be paid to the customer after the financing was paid off.
  43. Tony_YYZ

Supercharging growth lagging compared to sales

Vaughan Mills also seems to be a popular site where Legacy S/X cars with FUSC go to charge all the time and clog up the stalls.

    Software Update 2023.26

I’ve had it on my M3P for a couple weeks now but my MY got it yesterday. It’s luck of the draw when you might receive it.
  45. Tony_YYZ

Why Tesla trade-in price extremely low?

It’s by design. Also, do you currently have an active loan on your Model 3?
  46. Tony_YYZ

Why Tesla trade-in price extremely low?

But it adds something and he has to make sure they don’t reflect that in any quotes he is given since he will be removing the feature before he sells the car.
  47. Tony_YYZ

Why Tesla trade-in price extremely low?

Just from some initial searches, they seem to be listing for the mid 40s. What you can do as well is get quotes from places like Carnex, Canada Drives, Clutch, etc. If those places are giving you a fair amount (which they absolutely should compared to Tesla’s garbage pricing) then you will...
  48. Tony_YYZ

Why Tesla trade-in price extremely low?

This is the Tesla way. They lowball their own brand the worst. I sold my 2018 LR RWD with around 52k kms last year for just shy of $60k.

Tesla will allow transfer FSD to a new Tesla only till the end of September?

These are the terms. It looks to be worded so that if you were to sell the new car that FSD was transferred to then FSD would be removed from it. Even with a private sale. Per section 4: ”The Full Self Driving capability can only be transferred once and so cannot be transferred to another...

Tesla will allow transfer FSD to a new Tesla only till the end of September?

I was thinking they might be forecasting a demand slip for Q3 and this was a demand lever they had to pull. All speculation of course.
