Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Respectfully, huge props to you for being a professional driver and well above average parking skills. But the point of assisting technologies like USS park assist (and automatic parallel parking) is that it helps enable just about anyone to maneuver confidently. I'm sure there's other things...

Anyone with HW4 tried a MirrorTap?

Oh man how’d you manage to get at the green connector now that it’s way off in an unreachable corner of the mirror housing? I tried a half hour with tweezers but couldn’t do it.

Why FSD is still level 2, compare to MB's level 3 and hyundai/kia's level 3 next year?

This is totally false. I have a F-150 Lightning as well, and its “blue cruise hands on” mode works in a private underground parking garage. It just has around a 5 second steering nag. You can mindlessly tug the wheel. Even the “pre mapped” hands free mode is no longer actually pre mapped. It’s...

Why FSD is still level 2, compare to MB's level 3 and hyundai/kia's level 3 next year?

Sure, regulations need to change in addition to technology advancing. I more mean in a hypothetical future as currently no L3 0mph system exists either. I still disagree that these limited domains are niche. If anything I would argue today’s FSD Beta features are niche — how many customers...

Why FSD is still level 2, compare to MB's level 3 and hyundai/kia's level 3 next year?

IMO limited domain L3 is much more than just dismissed as a gimmick. Some people have heavily stop and go commutes where low speed L3 that actually allows you to email / text gives them a good chunk of their commute time back. Or others may do a lot of super long trips where a highway L3 that...

How do I tell if I have HW3 of HW4?

It has a much wider field of view horizontally. Presumably for better FSD maneuvers like merging on short cloverleafs.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Yeah honestly at this point I really have to say, the $79k new Model X makes so much sense I would seriously advise going that route instead of buying a used X, especially a used legacy X, no matter how good the deal seems.

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Similar to the 3/Y, rapidly flicking the wheel up or down will move in 5mph intervals. It takes a little practice to flick it at the right speed so that it registers and also moves by 5.
  9. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Honestly very easily adaptable but awkward at first. The gear shifter you get used to the fastest — other than the “direction” being opposite of a classic gear shift (flick forward for drive backward for reverse), the overall usage is very intuitive. Also worth noting that BMW joystick shifters...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

I mean, I think this is true to some extent but between 2011 and 2017 I was buying a new car every year from traditional makes and I’ve seen my fair share of WTF from them too. Missing trim pieces, loose seat belt holsters, obvious accidents like carpet knife cut marks on chrome and sometimes...
  11. C

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I find that very unlikely. I expect this refresh of the S and X to be the major engineering overhaul for the next few years. Minor changes and trim levels sure, but otherwise u think their focus has to be on the Cybertruck, the US Highland, and the Model Y equivalent before the $25k model.

Finally! Free Unlimited Super Charging FUSC can be transferred

The paperwork does not say it clearly but when you submit said signed paperwork and they process it, they will remove the inventory discount and the car reverts back to MSRP at the time it was built.

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

allowing you to move features around adds a lot more complexity to their promotion program. Like sure the financial impact to Tesla from you moving FUSC between two of your other cars while taking delivery of a third is equivalent but this results in a form with yet another box. Or perhaps...

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

Oh man you’d make a great lawyer! But unfortunately no, the wording is TO a newly delivered Tesla, FROM one you own, not between existing ones. You can find some attached PDFs here with the full legal language but it’s pretty airtight.
  15. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

This current one, yes, you must “take delivery” of a new S/X/Y.

2023 MSP Radar Detector install with Mirrortap. Anyone find a solution?

RF interference is very much possible. Radar detectors do emit electronic noise, especially non stealth ones. The circular antenna board very much looks like a GPS antenna to me, and GPS is very sensitive to noise. I don’t think it’s related to tapping the power source, it’s more related to...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

FWIW I’ve only gotten delivery at the Fremont factory or other Bay Area locations but they’ve consistently allowed me to play around with the car before delivery. Indeed they don’t let you drive it but they did allow me to play around with all the doors as much as my heart wants. I do agree...
  18. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Yeah we’ve gotten maybe a half dozen X’s between loaners, extended test drives, and now finally owning one. The FWDs have worried me the most so we spent a lot of time playing around with them in all sorts of scenarios and this is definitely the pattern we see. Luckily we’ve never encountered...
  19. C

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

100%. FWIW we have had a S,3,Y, now an X. We also have a F-150 Lightning. The X if anything feels just as nimble as the Y (IMO the adaptive suspension offsets the size/weight difference). The Lightning feels like a total high center of gravity tank. Like yes on straight line acceleration it...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Sure. All I am saying in this case is seeing a picture of the panel gaps being 1/16th inch misaligned is not enough information for me to conclude this is hopeless. Like yes if it is actually rubbing / failing to open or close, or if this is the best alignment seen on a few close attempts, I...
  21. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

yeah mine has FSD on the sticker but I didn’t order it. That’s fine, software options auto adjust as part of your delivery process.
  22. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

FWIW I would be more concerned about the curbed wheel than I am about that FWD misalignment. I get for a new car you really want it to look perfect but in reality even for perfectly normal FWD operation when you close them on a hill or a windy day it can lead to them appearing misaligned. There...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

idk all trade in offers on Teslas have tanked since 2021, the OP’s offer sounds about right for anything that’s not like a 2-3 year old S/X or a nearly new Y.
  24. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

No. They do have a better beam pattern than Tesla’s previous LED projector lights — sharper cutoffs, brighter illumination, wider beam pattern. The high beam is much higher (which seems a little odd — it literally hits the second story of houses half a block down) Curious when Tesla will enable...

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

Yeah so the 3 and Y got USS removed before they got HW4. On the S/X it looks like they got USS removed at the exact time they got HW4. So you can get a refresh S/X with HW3 and USS, or HW4 and no USS. I think the situation for the 3/Y with HW3 and no USS is especially bleak. HW4 at least has...
  26. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

I thought about that too but AFAIK there wasn’t any overlap between HW4 and USS. Between those I would definitely prefer getting HW4.

    2017 Model X vs 2023 Model X

Sure I think the adapters will be interesting but so far that’s yet to happen. I consider cars rapidly depreciating assets with 2-4 years of useful lifespan for me before I look to upgrade. I tend to make decisions based off the landscape today and not promises of how the future will be...
  28. C

    2017 Model X vs 2023 Model X

I am personally skeptical of a few aspects of this magically becoming a non issue: Based off the speed of permitting and construction of supercharging stations to date, and the whopping 2 stations in CA so far, I don’t expect to wake up next spring and magically every station is v4. Plus a lot...

    2017 Model X vs 2023 Model X

Honestly I don’t think the ride quality and comfort of any Tesla comes close to the e-tron or EQS. That’s simply not their forte. But right now if you plan on DCFC road trips, the non Tesla DCFC experience simply isn’t realistic for a lot of trips and even when the day comes when the...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

FWIW I bought a demo ‘23 with 12 miles and it looked like it’s simply because of EOQ sales pumping that they’ve decided every demo car can be sold. The staff were not happy because they literally prepped it for showroom mode 6 hours before I reserved it and then they have to prep it for delivery...
  31. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

Right, I was able to get a sales associate to confirm that they can take the discount away from an inventory vehicle to make it eligible. Unfortunately I think at that point the value proposition is questionable — if an inventory car has a few thousand dollars of discount, you’d need to...
  32. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

Just to clarify: if you happen to find and take delivery of an inventory model in this year it would still work out. IMO it’s risky though given how scarce inventory X’s are right now.
  33. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

The battery sourcing requirements become more stringent. Most of us speculate and believe that Tesla will qualify under the new requirements but Tesla has not confirmed that nor will IRS officially publish guidelines until next year.
  34. C

A button? A camera? Is it worth waiting for?

Ah thanks. Well I stand by what I said about Teslascope jumping the gun on speculation and low quality insider info.
  35. C

Delivery Time vs Free Unlimited Supercharging

That sucks, doubly bad luck with the timing. Sorry!
  36. C

A button? A camera? Is it worth waiting for?

Sigh Teslascope is at it again. HW4 has one extra unpopulated camera channel. Why would the front park assist camera be on the corner of one headlight at a strangely recessed point? One on each side is barely believable Based off the track record they have, I would take Teslascope rumors...

Finally! Free Unlimited Super Charging FUSC can be transferred

Yeah both in there and the final payment itemized listing in the Tesla app. Having any price adjustments (discounts) would be a bad sign.
  38. C

Finally! Free Unlimited Super Charging FUSC can be transferred

You tend to get an order modified email and the final price no longer has a $250 self referral discount. That’s the most telltale sign

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

What does the website options list say for you? I’m so confused now!
  40. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

My transfer two weeks ago shows up like this. The option code list shows SC05. So perhaps @coder has the two wordings mixed up? Would be interesting to get the option codes from someone with the other wording in their app.
  41. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

I’ve not seen someone whose app says “free” (without unlimited) “supercharging”. This was the language used in the agreement we signed but all indications I see are that what we got is the same SC05.
  42. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Yeah that seems less useful for me now. 3 weeks ago I called my service center and chose the option for sales and got through to a national call center and the agent there was super helpful. She was unable to get in contact with anyone at the service center (LOL) but pulled up the list of...
  43. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Good luck. Yeah a “I want to transfer my free supercharging from <old VIN>” sent via each of those messaging platforms should be what you need. I am pretty convinced there is just a call center that handles all of the messages.
  44. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

With your EDD so far out, don’t expect super regular communication. Messaging via the app or the 510 phone number tends to get you the quickest responses, especially if you keep it short and to the point.
  45. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Do you think “delivery window in 2023” means once they updated the window to straddle Jan 2024 last week those aren’t eligible?
  46. C

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Yeah there’s pluses and minuses. I’ve ordered 5 Teslas (2 from inventory) and this whole terrible ETA and terrible communication aspect is definitely a recurring theme with them. Meanwhile the one time I ordered an Audi it was built in Germany, shipped on a boat to the port of San Diego, and...
  47. C

    Free Supercharging transfer opportunity

The end of our first week with the X, 275kWh of free supercharging. At California rates I think like $100/wk savings are definitely going to add up. As I said before the faster supercharging curve is really a game changer for soaking up free juice.
  48. C

Finally! Free Unlimited Super Charging FUSC can be transferred

Yeah they need to reverse your $250 discount before your final payment otherwise the price of the vehicle is ineligible for transfer.
  49. C

Which tires did your refresh Model X come with?

My LR 22 came with the Scorpion Zero. My last experience with Pirellis on Audis was fairly negative so I wasn’t expecting much but so far it’s been very grippy and quiet! Will see how it does for occasional light snow this winter.

Finally! Free Unlimited Super Charging FUSC can be transferred

I'm with you there, buddy. I chickened out a little in terms of scrambling to find a like-new inventory X, but I also waited until the very last minute to sign the FUSC agreement because the wording was just ambiguous enough that I wasn't sure what'd happen if I rejected delivery. Is that...
