    Model X Feature Request

My number one complaint with X right now is the way the second row seat latching works. I get the "unlatched" warning constantly with no one in the middle seat, unless it's ALL the way back. My daughter likes to sit in the third row, and the seat all the way back is not comfortable even for a...

    Model X Feature Request

I actually really like having a real mirror there (checking on kids in the back!). I also have to hand it to the Bolt, the combo real mirror / screen is a very cool feature. So let me just say I want that, and for it to be motorized :)

    Model X Feature Request

My wife and I have a running joke about how it's "so inconvenient" that you need to manually adjust the rear view mirror when changing drivers. (We feel very spoiled by this car!) That said, I don't think this is a feature any current owners will ever see, I assume the rear view mirror is not...

    Rust under third row seats

Yikes, those look like the latch connectors? Seems like a safety issue if you're putting car seats back there!

X owner claims unintended acceleration caused accident

Let's hope it stays that way! Also, @wk057 you're famous? Several Tesla owners claim Model X accelerated/crashed on its own but everything points to user error

Falcon Wing Doors Quality Poll (Everyone answer please!)

Wow, my VIN is 65XX, delivered 9-15 .. that seems like a big jump! I've had no FaWD problems so far. The accidental FOB close-all-doors happened once while taking delivery, immediately turned that option off. No issues in our garage, after gaining some confidence I set them to always open fully...

X owner claims unintended acceleration caused accident

Ha- well mainly I didn't know if the AP camera memory was part of the logs, or if that was a separate thing fetched by other means.

X owner claims unintended acceleration caused accident

Wow, small world- that is pretty incredible :) I imagine Tesla gets these snapshots when they pull log data? I'd be curious to know, maybe you could share it with them.

    First Model X with 8.0

The report of constant reboots (I think maybe fixed now?) made me in no hurry to get the update.
  10. NathanWolf

Model X owners- What does your insurance card say?

Mine just says "Tesla Model X", no trim at all. When I spoke to them on the phone, they mentioned there is only P-90 in their systems, which seemed odd.

    First Model X with 8.0

... And all in Switzerland? Does that seem kinda weird to anyone else? EDIT: Whoops, misread, only 1 in Switzerland.

    Tesla Model X Moments

I almost found this out for myself this morning- feel like an idiot, but fortunately there is a big red warning on the dash when you put the car in drive with a FaW door open.
  13. NathanWolf

    Finally an App Update...Nevermind!!

I would love a separate HomeLink button. Being able to totally forgo my garage door openers and rely on the car and app to open/close the garage doors would be awesome. As it stands, I can't do it if the car is charging, since I can't access the Summon screen. Kind of silly.

Model X Needs Same Rear Camera Mirror That Chevy Bolt is Getting

Ok, that is really cool. Actually, the Bolt really seems to have a lot going for it. I am very happy to finally see some decent competition, let's get the technology race going!

    Loud Creaking Noise When Turning

Hm- thanks! I'll put this on the list of things to have them look at ... it's fortunately a short list for now, I'd like to let it get pretty long before I have to give up my X for a while :)
  16. NathanWolf

    Loud Creaking Noise When Turning

I do hear a creaking noise, but I honestly thought it was normal. It doesn't seem super loud to me, and on par with what I'm used to hearing from a car when turning the wheels and not in motion. Is this a normal noise that is just louder than it should be, or are you saying there should not be...

Pulled over by a cop on Day 1

I've been a little concerned also that our temporary tags aren't visible at all through the tint- it does seem really dark. Thanks for the head's up! Actually going to Seattle tomorrow... guess I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Fixes for seal and/or alignment issues on early deliveries? Service plan?

I was told the service plan and extended warranty are not available yet, but I don't know if that varies from state to state.
  19. NathanWolf

    Model X Insurance

We had great luck with Progressive, the quote was actually lower than our current car (Honda CRV). Factoring in the multi-car discount, adding a Model X was actually quite reasonable.

    Model X P100D Deliveries

Good point- you know that, and I know that- but I'm not sure this fine point will comfort someone who just spent $150k on a car which was immediately outdated, you know what I mean? Especially if they noticed the AP price bump when ordering their P100L. I could see Tesla representatives having...
  21. NathanWolf

    Model X P100D Deliveries

I don't think so either, and Tesla claims it was unrelated to new hardware. But it would be kind of like twisting the knife for people who order after the price bump but before new hardware, if new hardware is really coming in the next month or so, wouldn't it? If AP2 is really that close, why...
  22. NathanWolf

    Model X P100D Deliveries

This would be a shining example of the instant depreciation you've been worried about, wouldn't it? I have to say I agree- it seems absolutely nuts that Tesla would come out with their most expensive models ever, push them hard, bump orders to the top of the queue- and then a month later say...

Fair enough, definitely a nice problem to have! :) I've been waiting and saving for years now if that makes you feel any better.

Autopilot 2.0 Upgrade for Exisiting Owners

It's my last day to decide if I want to postpone delivery, production is scheduled for mid-September. The rumors and timing are killing me!
  26. NathanWolf

    #ISITSEPTEMBERYET?

I'm with you! But now it feels like a race between my production date and the announcement of new hardware... getting nervous and almost wanting to lease :D

What Should I do? Dealer Inventory or Used?

I would suspect there's a market for people interested in getting the Signature branding- at only a 1000 miles it might be worthwhile. I've looked over the Tesla "new" inventory and many of them have that many miles on them anyway (have you asked the milage of the one at the dealer?) Also if...

Possible to transfer confirmed MX order to someone else?

I'd agree with @vandacca though that may be me being hopeful (delivery expected late September, and I've considered postponing for this very reason) With the break from MobileEye I have a very hard time believing we'll be seeing new hardware soon, unless they've been working on it in secret for...

Any new July 2016 owners seeing added Auto-Pilot hardware?

I *thought* I had read somewhere that they were going with Bosch's two-camera setup instead. But I can't find the reference and it was probably just speculation anyway so I guess I don't have a good answer for you :)
  30. NathanWolf

Any new July 2016 owners seeing added Auto-Pilot hardware?

I think that was the MobileEye setup though, which we know isn't happening anymore.

Too Fat for Tesla? (Model X)

Was this, like, a prank call? Sorry, that just sounds ludicrous - not in a good way. It wasn't an actual Tesla representative saying this, I hope?
  32. NathanWolf

Buy or lease the X, what did you choose or your suggestion given X's build quality?

I am definitely hoping for a retrofit possibility! The dual-camera setup aligns with the move to Bosch cameras (I think?) so maybe they've planned it in all along. I'm taking delivery in September (in theory) and sure would hate to fall just short of AP2. I'm already kicking myself for not...
  33. NathanWolf

Buy or lease the X, what did you choose or your suggestion given X's build quality?

The only thing that's made me seriously considering leasing is the possibility that AP2.0 is right around the corner and a retrofit won't be possible. I would never in my life have considered leasing a car, but Tesla's are a little difficult for people that really love having all the new...

    Reverse Summon

I am curious to know how/if this works too! I'm currently preparing my garage and struggling with the charger location, I basically need to decide in advance whether we'll be backing in or going in forward. Same as OP, I believe backing in would make the FaWD clear the garage door, which would...

    A Vent.....thanks for listening

The clothes dryer outlet might actually work out well, I think the mobile connector is like 20' long so you could maybe snake it in there. It'd need to be a NEMA 14-50 plug, but I *think* that's fairly common for dryer outlets.
  36. NathanWolf

    A Vent.....thanks for listening

Probably true, unfortunately. My sister rents and bought a Leaf, but she couldn't change wiring. Fortunately there was a 120V outlet where she parks, and the Leaf's battery is a lot smaller than a Tesla so that works out ok for her for nightly charging. For a Tesla, daily driving, a 120V outlet...

    A Vent.....thanks for listening

I think the general idea is you have to be able to charge at home to own a Tesla. I'm not sure if there's an official stance on it, other than this vague statement from the website: There are probably exceptions, such as if you're buying the car to commute and there are charging stations at...

Tesla Auto Pilot kept me safer than ever today

I think the OP was simply asserting that if you set AP to go the speed limit, it will not go over the speed limit. Versus a human driving and attempting to go the speed limit, but will naturally vary up and down, sometimes significantly when we stop paying attention.

    Car seat protectors

Sorry to dredge up a semi-old thread, but is anyone concerned about this snippet from the manual? I was about to order two Bricas from the recommendations in this thread, but thinking twice.

My Journey to ordering a Model X

Oh, interesting. I guess I'll need to test it out. Our garage ceiling is pretty high (I'd say 9 or maybe 10 feet) but the garage door and rails are not, maybe 6 1/2 feet. Just high enough to smack a fully-raised falcon wing. I've seen a lot of people raising up the rails and garage door, but...

Falcon Crunch 2 - The Obstacle Strikes Back

I almost didn't want to click on this, but glad I did just for the "Wohmman" at least. So sorry to see this! I think this forum needs a "Sad" reaction, "Dislike" doesn't seem right. :(
  42. NathanWolf

My Journey to ordering a Model X

I'm curious, is there an opposite setting? I'm expecting I'll actually want it in umbrella mode in the garage to avoid the order-of-opening issue with my garage door, unless I do some serious re-arranging. I've been losing sleep thinking about what happens if someone opens the garage door...

Experience with Ultra High Fidelity Sound

Wow, thank you for going and trying it out! I didn't realize there was another USB plug somewhere up front. Mainly it seemed like having to unplug the little cable that comes from the dock/holster would be a pain, so as long as that's not necessary that's good news. It'd be nice to have a...

Experience with Ultra High Fidelity Sound

Nice, thank you! May ask, does this need to be plugged into the same USB port that the dock uses? Or can you stick this somewhere else and still be able to use the phone charger?
  46. NathanWolf

Experience with Ultra High Fidelity Sound

Hm, so there is no support for USB audio from an iPhone or Android phone? It's really just a charging port, then? That's kind of a bummer if so- even my Honda CRV can do that- album art, playlists etc. I really don't like using BT for audio, for quality reasons and it has generally felt flaky...

Experience with Ultra High Fidelity Sound

I see a lot of people mentioning playing audio from a USB stick. Can I ask why? This seems antiquated for me, is support for playing music from a docked phone terrible or something like that? EDIT: I do realize the benefit of FLACC but I've seen people mentioning using USB drives for non...

    Rear spoiler ?

Thank you! I'll admit I didn't make it all the way through that thread. I've had trouble finding pictures, those are probably the best I've seen. Well at least it appears to be a nice-looking spoiler.
  49. NathanWolf

    Rear spoiler ?

Sorry to double-reply to you, but do you have any pictures of the fixed spoiler, by chance? :) I haven't really seen any, or the ones I have seen literally look like the active spoiler stuck in the up position. Does the fixed spoiler look more like a normal spoiler, with an actual gap between...

    Rear spoiler ?

I can understand that, especially after reading this thread. But I am in the opposite camp - if I can't get/afford an active spoiler, I'd rather have none at all! The clean profile while powered off is, at this point, the biggest thing making me consider going up to P. Needless to say, the...
