    Queensland EV Charging Infrastructure Scheme

That new Gympie site will shorten the walk to the maccas. The hike from the current QESH site does involve bonus cardio though

    Queensland EV Charging Infrastructure Scheme

And Augathella/Tambo that was a priority in the initial release didn't get a site; and the Mitchell site is incorrectly described as adjacent to the hospital, but if it's on Elizabeth Street it's still in the carpark between the hot springs and the museum (importantly, 450m or so walk to the bakery)

    My Light Bar Project

For completeness I should have posted this a year ago...in the end, mounting it under the bumper outside isn't intrusive, and being so low to the ground it's still remarkably capable. I went with the Lazer Linear Elite as reviewed by Bjorn on youtube. I did have a hiccup earlier when their...

    Queensland EV Charging Infrastructure Scheme

They're sadly far better at announcing (and re-announcing?) these things than implementing them. The Warrego Hwy phase 3 sites were expected to be online by October last year when I initially contacted our local member, and then followed up with the councils involved (back in April 22). The...

Light bar upgrade in Aus: suggestions & where have you mounted your switch?

Apologies I should have posted this update far sooner. The Linear Elite-18 lightbar has been installed since June 30 and the result is both subtle from the outside and the illumination is even better than I'd hoped. The isolation switch is in the rearmost section of the centre console. I...

    Queensland Electric Highway

Thanks. We have access to a mate's 10A power point so I've never tried there. I've been thinking that Chinchilla trip might be quicker once Miles is activated, rather than wait in Dalby at that slow old site to top up to get to Toowonba QESH to instead head further west, fast charge and double...

    Queensland Electric Highway

That's a tremendous shame. When I contacted the councils they all reported October activations. We were hoping to do a drive out during the xmas school holidays based on that. We'll still get to Chinchilla for a day trip I've done previously.

    Queensland Electric Highway

Has anyone gone to any of the new QESH sites along the Warrego Highway as yet? They were supposed to be live by October, but still not showing on Plugshare so presuming there's been some delays. Are the sites progressed west of Toowoomba?

    Disney+ not play videos

Shame, I only subscribed to D+ yesterday. And it was mostly because it's something else the car can play. Looks good, can navigate around but once I choose something to watch it's a black screen forever v2022.40.4 FWIW I'll contact Disney support too, & add to the noise [edit: case number...

    Spare Tyre for Model 3

4-6 weeks, end October so no good for this trip. I've done without so far, will do so again Left field - have you asked if they'd sell you the jack alone?

    Spare Tyre for Model 3

My use case is to give me something to get somewhere other than the side of the road at the scene of the incident. I already carry a can of mousse, repair kit, pucks & 12V inflator, this just provides additional options. If I'm 5000km from home I have no interest in getting home on it. And...

    Spare Tyre for Model 3

Even on their website delivery is over 2 months away. Bit of a shame they don't stock locally, as that kit looks perfect. I need something mid-next month so will probably grab a 2nd hand full size one off eBay or similar in the meantime

    Queensland Electric Highway

I actually checked that one out on the weekend. I didn't have a reason to charge, so must have looked odd doing a lap of the carpark. I wondered if that announcement was talking about that one, but it has Stanwell rather than Yurika branding.

Light bar upgrade in Aus: suggestions & where have you mounted your switch?

After 2 years of not going far we have some touring planned this year, so LED light bar is back on the shopping list. Out of interest where did you put the isolation switch, & would you recommend that spot? Also have you had any negative impact on the 12V battery? I'm mindful ours will be 3...

We were hoping to get to Charleville via Carnarvon gorge for a trip this year in one of the school holidays. I contacted the councils for Charleville, Miles, and Roma. All independently replied they are expecting to go live in October this year.

    SR+ tyre replacement

How do you find the Michelin Primacy 4 vs the OEM Pilot Sports? My original set is getting a bit tail-happy in the wet now despite still having legal tread it's easy to see the rears are worn far more than the fronts (never did get around to rotating them).

Understood. If you've got an alternative to the Linear Elite I'm keen to hear about it.

Light bar upgrade in Aus: suggestions & where have you mounted your switch?

Hi guys Sorry I've been slack in updating here. David Wallace from The Fitting Bay has responded to pricing request and also made an offer for a 5+ group buy discount if that's of interest. He's confirmed free delivery to each of the 5+ order locations too, not just a single drop somewhere...

Light bar upgrade in Aus: suggestions & where have you mounted your switch?

Hey @corndog the real world hijacked me unfortunately, so it will be a few months before I can get back to this. But Lazer have made things easier by releasing their own (link to Lazer CAN interface page) for AUD$195 which helpfully made that decision for me If you do progress this before I do...

Be cautious on all future updates

Was there confirmation of divergent code branches, or are they just going to depreciate the radar inputs on cars equipped with it ongoing?

Has anyone tried the QESH yet? It looks useful but it has css 2 and Chademo..

Yup. Have used QESH at Cooroy, outside Toowoomba & Warwick. They use the ChargeFox app to manage the billing, though there is an introductory (6 months?) period after commissioning of a new site that charging is available without cost. I've found QESH to be in useful locations, and it's...

How hard is it to drive a long trip in Australia (900+ Km)

I've also submitted updates to openchargemap which is the resource behind A Better Route Planner. Crowdsourcing is awesome but can lead to inaccuracies that last longer in less traveled areas

How hard is it to drive a long trip in Australia (900+ Km)

How hard is it to drive a long trip in Australia (900+ Km)

Anywhere on the east coast is easy. Cairns to Melbourne or Canberra, no problem. Head west though at the moment (especially in Queensland) and you'll find a lack of fast charging options, but plenty of places to charge if you're not in a hurry. Electricity is after all essentially everywhere...

    2021 m3 SR+ fog light questions...

Thanks for answering this for me. As with most things on the 3 it's software related so if the car doesn't know you should have them, it wouldn't present the button on the screen to control it - how you explain it makes sense, you're just piggybacking off existing lighting wires so there's no...

Has your screen ever gone dark while driving? Possibly related to iPhone bluetooth disruption?

I've seen it once in 18 months in our SR+, and on a super-hot day where the interior was 60+C when we got back to the car. Soon after starting off we realised the screen was not responsive then it went dark. It's a bit disconcerting being able to drive with no dash, the main question being if...

Charging Questions for Possible M3SR[+] Owner.

FWIW I'm finding our SR+ is saving us money over the old ICE we traded for it (and got $500 AUD). The running costs are very low and the lack of servicing (especially eliminating the unscheduled ones from an older car) make the predictable monthly payments easier to deal with We're currently...

Charging Questions for Possible M3SR[+] Owner.

Hi TIM, and congrats on the next purchase Your usual way of dealing with this charging would be to plug the car in whenever you're home, and have it charge to a preset limit. For a similar commute I have mine scheduled to charge to 60% every night, recovering the range used during the day and...

Is it easy to identify if my Tesla Wall connector can charge other EVs?

Is it easy to identify if my Tesla Wall connector can charge other EVs?

Yes I was intending to RTFM, but I have no idea where I put the farking thing  Nevermind. Agree I can always try after we settle on car#2 and see what happens. MG only has 7kW onboard charger, so it's already limited a little

Is it easy to identify if my Tesla Wall connector can charge other EVs?

Hi, I've read in other threads older Tesla Wall Connectors have a legacy mode which supports non-Tesla EVs. We got ours with Sept 2019 delivery. I'm not sure if that's enough to know if it will have legacy mode, or if there's something else to ID if it will do the job. Hopefully it will be...

    Oil Pump?

I've not read any chatter on this being an issue, and the google search seems to confirm this All things can fail (or warranties wouldn't be so popular). Two in rapid succession points to unlikely extreme bad luck, or another as-yet unidentified contributing factor though you'd think

Rear cam protection of some sort

I actually haven't seen the rear camera get covered and have done quite a few k's on unsealed roads. I have had mudflaps on the car since soon after new - if you don't, I wonder if they help? If you do...it's not that

    Renewable Energy Cost

I've been resisting expanding on this all day, but feel I should #1 Meaninless comparison. It doesn't matter how efficient solar PV is (mine were 21% when new) if you don't state the efficiency of burning fossils in generation (it's about 40%, not counting the energy to get the coal/oil/gas out...
