Snagged a P90D Inventory car for $700/mnth on the new 24 month lease

Wow, very disappointing. Sort of kills the mystique that a factory owned store and purchase process is so much than a regular dealership.

Pothole in Vidor Texas Took the P85 Down

MobilEye has a new pothole detection system but that won't happen since they dumped Tesla. 8.0 won't detect potholes.

Tesla sells 100% of its cars with no discount.

A new tweet from Musk linking a Forbes article that states Tesla sells 100% of its car with no discount. Good to know. Why Investors Should Support The Tesla SolarCity Merger

    Back to a "Meh" experience

Consumers are buying a product at a fixed price with the expectation that Tesla will keep their end of the agreement. Instead, Tesla has violated their "we never discount" commitment. Tesla should acknowledge this and provide consumers the same discount they or return the consumers deposit.

    Model X Front Suspension Failure

So what was the cause of this particular suspension failure? Was there any follow up by Telsa as to the cause of the defect?

Driver side Falcon wing door hinge snapping when opening

It seems that there still arent adequate quality assurance checks being made at the factory or at the SC. Something like that should have been caught as soon as it rolled off the assembly line.

    Production Quality Issues at Delivery?

That's a pet peeve of mine. It just screams low quality and no quality checks. Plus you see it all the time. The Model X seems to be a poster child for misaligned doors. Were they able to fix yours?

Pothole in Vidor Texas Took the P85 Down

Yea, more like a depression in the road.

    Model X Front Suspension Failure

Sorry to hear about the suspension failure on your Model X and sorry you have to endure the personal, attacks from some here. Thanks for posting. There does seem to be an inordinate number of suspension failures. Did you report the failure to NHTSA ?

    Back to a "Meh" experience

I would definitely push your delivery past Oct 1 if they refuse to budge on at least the delivery fees.

Why AP 2.0 Won't Be Here Soon, and It Won't Be What You Think It Is

Mercedes has already moved well beyond these 2014 driver assist features.

Why AP 2.0 Won't Be Here Soon, and It Won't Be What You Think It Is

The extra sensors are hardly useless. The Blind Spot detection is light years beyond what Tesla offers. Tesla is basically blind to the rear. The ability to detect and brake for stopped vehicles is not useless, as we've seen. Crossing traffic detection is not useless, as we've seen. Auto...

    Model X Front Suspension Failure

Here's a link to a Model S rear suspension failure from hitting a pothole. It does seem that based on all of the problems with Tesla's suspensions at a minimum they aren't very robust. Pothole in Vidor Texas Took the P85 Down

Engadget claims Bolt cheaper than Model 3

Who said supercharging will be free?
  15. K

Pothole in Vidor Texas Took the P85 Down

It seems very odd hitting a pothole at only that speed would do and damage beyond the tire and wheel. Failure of the control arm and shock tower seems more than you'd expect. Hope your insurance company paid for it all.

    Model X Front Suspension Failure

All these suspension problems are concerning. Why are all these problems happening, design issue or poor quality control or what?
  17. K

    Model X Front Suspension Failure

What's with all the Tesla ball joint failures / replacements? Did Car and Driver magazine fake it?
  18. K

    Model X Front Suspension Failure

Quite the elaborate scheme, faking his delivery and all! These short sellers are getting more creative all the time. LOL

Chevy Bolt - 200 mile range for $30k base price (after incentive)

I wonder if GM is going to charge extra for metallic paint like Tesla does?
  20. K

Bought new S 75D yesterday after tesla yesterday firesale overnight -$7500

I thought Musk said Tesla doesn't offer discounts, even to his own relatives? People who paid full price must feel cheated or foolish, For thinking that Tesla had firm, non-negotiable pricing.

Mobileye rips Tesla Autopilot, Chairman says it dumped Tesla

That's what Tesla has said. And that's why Mobileye finally dumped Tesla because they felt Tesla was "pushing the safety envelope" too far, trying to do image processing of things the base system with only a single camera was ever intended to do. With a string of AP accidents and at least...

Mobileye rips Tesla Autopilot, Chairman says it dumped Tesla

More importantly, Tesla's implementation of AP does not back up the supposed emphasis to keep hands on the wheel. Even when 8.0 launches, a driver can keep their hands completely off the wheel for 3 minutes before a nag warning. That kind of implementation does not match the warning for the...

Mobileye rips Tesla Autopilot, Chairman says it dumped Tesla

Mobileye did comment immediately after the disclosure of the Florida Autopilot fatality. It was then that Musk stated it was Tesla's proprietary software, not Mobileye that should have seen the truck.

Mobileye rips Tesla Autopilot, Chairman says it dumped Tesla

I'd highly recommend you go back and read what Musk said about Mobileye after the Florida fatality.

Mobileye rips Tesla Autopilot, Chairman says it dumped Tesla

According to Elon's tweet shortly after the Florida fatality was disclosed, it was a failure of Telsa's proprietary software, not Mobileye's technology that was to blame for not seeing the truck. Furthermore, in this article Elon defended Mobileye as having the worlds best technology. What...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

Yes, the E-Class, even though its a less expensive car than a Model S has 5 radar sensor that look both forward and rearward, plus to the side at intersections. One of the forward radars is a long distance radar that helps with AEB braking at high speeds. The BLIS system uses radars instead of...

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

Yes, totally agree. Tesla also didn't disclose the Joshua Brown fatality either until NHTSA was about to announce they were opening their safety investigation.
  28. K

Another fatal autopilot crash - China

Agreed, highly likely that it was on AP based on the available information. The similarities between this and the other AP crash in China and the AP crash in Europe are eerily similar.

[NYT] How did GM Create Tesla's Dream Car First?

The basis of the story is spot on. GM got to Musk's goal for an "affordable" EV first. To drive the point home, GM made it even more embarrassing for Tesla by providing 20 miles more range than the Model S60. Tesla should not have wasted so much time and resources on the Model X and their...

Launch Pad Explosion during Static Test Fire - Sept 1 2016

Agreed, it's very odd that a 1/4 Billion dollar payload was onboard during a static fire test. Zuckerberg must not be very happy with Space X. His satellite didn't need to be present for the test.

6th drive unit replacement and more

The SC wants to repeat the same behavior and expect a different outcome....gives new meaning to Tesla's Insane mode. Understand your frustration. I think this is a downside to having the factory and the dealer be the same entity. I can't image Lexus HQ standing by while this was happening a...

Key safety feature removed from doors?

Yeah, seems strange Tesla wouldn't at least warn people about the removal of a safety feature

    Model X safety

I'm sure the passengers in the Yukon took one look at the damage on the X and said "wow, I want my family back in a Yukon" The bent fender, broken headlamp and cracked bumper cover on the Yukon is minor compared to the extent of serious damage to the X.

Tesla included in new Takata airbag recall

That's a great question. And if they aren't, when did they stop using them. A little bit of transparency from Tesla would be nice.
  37. K

Park Assist just ruined my front bumper - cut too short!

Exactly, that's the way other auto park systems work, first they detect there is adequate space before allowing the system to work.
  38. K

Does the model X make your passengers car sick?

The 3rd row in the X is very cramped and claustrophobic which could certainly contribute to car sickness for 3rd passengers.
  39. K

Park Assist just ruined my front bumper - cut too short!

I would continue to push Tesla to cover the repair.

Model S catches fire in France-8/2016

I couldn't find one Nissan Leaf that burned during a test drive. Can you please post the link? If this is such a common issue, it should be easy to find. I couldn't find any Chevy Volt fires, other than the one used in crash testing. You would think an ICE + EV would be even more likely to...

Model S catches fire in France-8/2016

What makes Tesla's more fire prone than other EVs on the market? Why don't other EVs have these fire problems?
  42. K

Model S catches fire in France-8/2016

Sounds like a good question to ask Tesla sales people who don't train shoppers before a test drive. Maybe the center screen should play a short safety video each time you start the car with a flight attendant explaining the escape route procedures.
  43. K

Model S catches fire in France-8/2016

Unless you train your passengers how to use it in case of an emergency, I doubt anyone would figure it out during the panic of a car fire. As for the third row passengers, they're pretty much stuck in that third row.
  44. K

Model S catches fire in France-8/2016

At least everyone was able to get out. I wonder what would happen if it was a fire in Model X and the power went out. Getting out of the third row seats would be extremely difficult as would opening the FWD.
  45. K

    Interior noise level question

Based on Tesla's history with the S and X, I wouldn't expect a rattle/creak free Model 3. Wind noise and road noise seem to be higher than average too.
  46. K

    Ride quality

I would agree the ride quality in the X is poor. Do you have excessive wind noise or road noise...or both?
  47. K

What would happen if you end up in water?

Anyone in the third row would be doomed. Its hard enough to get out of the third row when the seats are working. The second row passengers would have to try to escape through the front doors, if the front doors were manually opened.
  48. K

Reliance of Autopilot on network access after today's outage

A scary thought that a car would "ping pong like crazy" in a lane and "drift in an unusual pattern" if it loses a cell signal or is in an area without cell service.

    Crash Test Results

In the NCAP side pole test on the Model S, "dummy measurements of rib compressions indicated marginal protection of the chest." "marginal protection" doesn't sound like a glowing term when it comes to crash tests results.
