    New S60 > S75 @$2k -- Not Really a Deal?

The battery pack cell balancing happens above 90% charge - happens at about 93% from memory - so presumably the software limited 60 never goes through this cycle. Over time this may slightly erode the effective capacity of the 60.

    Upgrade from a 60 to a 75.

Here in the UK the standard is nominally 240v. But we need to know whether this was on the UMC or a dedicated wall charger, and if wall charger what amperage it had.

    Upgrade from a 60 to a 75.

The big question: what was the State of Charge before the capacity unlocking and what was it afterwards? Many people have been wondering whether the range limitation is applied at the top, the bottom or a bit of both.

Verdict of 2016 Model S 60 Battery being top or bottom limited?

Bjorn has a video that shows charge rate for the 60: If that data can be fitted to the curve for a 75 then it would answer the question. We don't have the curve for the 75 though. Tesla has a charge rate curve on the Supercharger page but it's generic and not sufficiently detailed.

Using a "-" in front of the temperatures seems odd. What if the temp is below 0 degrees? Unlikely for Fahrenheit I suppose, but common for Centigrade. Using a ":" would solve this.

Fitted Model S car cover. Does one exist?

Did you get the Evannex cover in the end, if so what do you think?

Verdict of 2016 Model S 60 Battery being top or bottom limited?

I'm not "technically sound" but I'll tell you my view: the evidence I've seen so far isn't conclusive and so it comes down to what you choose to believe. What I personally choose to believe - knowing full well that it is an assumption - is that it's a bit of both, probably 5-85%, i.e. 5% limited...

    A Better Routeplanner

Very nice, seems like a useful addition to the tools. Like other planners it doesn't understand the Channel Tunnel between UK and France. There are 3 points to consider: The SC at Folkestone is "Available to Eurotunnel passengers travelling from the UK to France only" The SC at Calais...

    Used Tesla UK pricing?

Same here: I "confirmed" and ended the 14 automatic period the day after I'd placed the original order.

    Used Tesla UK pricing?

Yes, I meant the 29th. Ordered Sat and confirmed Sun, so ours should be rolling off the line together. Mine's called Selene. My birthday is 1st March, so I'd be very happy to wait for the new plate.

    3 days left to decide.

I confirmed my order last weekend, but on Saturday I went to the Tesla showroom to ask if I could swap to the All Glass from the Pano that I had ordered. I went with Pano for the headroom, the All Glass offers that but also looks better and will give less trouble. I don't think I'll ever use a...

    Used Tesla UK pricing?

If it's left the factory then that's great. From what I've seen it seems to take about 8 weeks to get to the UK, via The Netherlands. You could well have it for Xmas, and with AP 2 hardware. I only ordered mine last Sat (26th) and confirmed the build spec the following day. I went to a Tesla...

Why buy a wall Connector ?

Please update us on how this goes. The Rolec unit is tempting as it appears significantly cheaper than an installed Tesla wall charger, although it seems odd that their website quotes the same "from" price for both 16A and 32A versions. I expected a premium on the 32A, if only for the higher...

    Used Tesla UK pricing?

My Model S order currently says "February, 2017 - Early March, 2017" but that grace period could still be useful, based on how quickly it's gone from "Late December".

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

Cancel that - the current version of the CTEK charger certainly does have an AGM mode: http://www.ctek.com/Archive/ProductPdf/MXS%205.0_EN.pdf

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

Several people on this thread use a CTEK charger to trickle-charge the 12v battery. However that seems to be for standard lead-acid batteries (from the picture on Amazon), not the AGM type. The BatterMinder that was recommended earlier in the thread does however have separate settings for AGM...

Why buy a wall Connector ?

Will the outlet be outside or in a garage? If outside then the MC will get wet and dirty (with likelihood of the odd slug too) do you want to unplug that and put it in your boot before every longish trip? Technically though I agree they serve the same purpose and provide the same 7.4 kW on a...

Why buy a wall Connector ?

I am in the same position as you: in the UK, car ordered and wondering what to do. However I've considered a 3rd option too, which is to use a 7kw PodPoint. As far as I can work out (and I'm learning so may be wrong) the pros-cons are: industrial connector is intended for use inside, so OK in a...

    New 60D 100% Charge - Losing miles

Presumably 2 small motors are more efficient than 1 large motor. The Model S page on the Tesla site has an animated range calculator near the bottom of the page (well the UK one does anyway) and it shows the D getting higher mileage.
