Raven Performance in Europe - only hits 140 kW for few minutes, 92 kW for the rest

Apologies for reviving this old thread. I'm in Denmark and have a Sept 19 MX LRP (Raven). Software is currently 2023.20.4.1. Tesla SC says the CCS adapter is limited to 142 kW and this is the reason for not being able to go higher at any point during the charging cycle...

    2019.36.2.3

Fwiw :-) I went from 2019.36.2.1 to 2019.36.2.3 right now on my TMX Dual Motor Performance FSD Sep/2019 Europe For some reason I can't log it on ev-fw.com yet, the 2019.36.2.3 isn't available in the drop down menu. No idea if anything changed with the new version. Release notes are the same...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Forgot about that supplemental info for new/potential owners... Thanks Max!

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Just to confirm this software based throttling is being rolled out by Tesla. It's not something happening based on actual battery cell degradation. I've also had this confirmed by Tesla here in Denmark who is expecting that this new supercharger "curve" with a cap around 96-98 kW will be...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Thank you for the heads up! Truly much appreciated. Would be a very annoying situation to be stuck in. If I calculate backwards from charges and/or discharges my car equals 100% to roughly 81 kWh, so it appears my cars unbalanced calculation of capacity is permanent/static and that I can...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

This is not an effect of wear. This is a software restriction placed by a manufacturer on a product they have sold. They didn't lease me the car. They didn't inform me of the restriction. I'm convinced they did it to protect my investment and I thank them for their intent. But I would...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

On my P90DL it's "slow" up to around 6% where it then is consistently above 80 kW before tapering later in the cycle. I can drive down to at least -6% (long story which basically boils down to faulty grounding at a summer cottage and then a 10% distance to the nearest alternative power...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

A short update from me while waiting on loading new firmware on a network switch scheduled for deployment in the morning :) I spoke with the Copenhagen service center just after my supercharging session. The engineer pulled logs from the BMS in my car and confirmed my battery state was "one of...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Hi Zythryn My car previously charged well above 100-110 kW in the first half of the SoC - pretty much 1:1 with Bjorn's observations here: [Rumor]Tesla is reducing speed of Supercharging as your Tesla gets older If you're curious about supercharging speeds across various vehicles from multiple...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Ok, so here goes! Hopefully this sheds a little more light on the subject. I still need to do calculations on the actual loss in minutes for different charge cycles, but I'm in a rush for a meeting so it'll have to wait :-) Preparation steps: Enjoy driving the best car I've ever owned around...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

For anyone curious I'm currently collecting data on a charge cycle from 0%. Will post back with details as soon as I reach 80% SoC.

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

They haven't as far as I know. Only mentioned 120 kW as an "up to" rate and that charging to 80% on a 90 kWh pack takes 40 minutes (under ideal conditions) It's on their supercharger page if you use a desktop browser. Tor

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Got it! Apologies for the misunderstanding, I agree 100% I'll post back when I've done a a more detailed comparison of the charge cycles. I only focused on the difference in time specifically for my commute stretch and how much longer I was stuck there now compared to prior to the limit. (Based...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Max I'm almost completely in agreement with you, the only issue is that a ~20% decrease in supercharging speed is not a minor issue. The five minute element only comes into play if you account for the increase at the later part of the cycle. This is an important part of the effect of the limit...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Guys, I'm going to jump in again here. I'm not claiming our data is infallible by any means, but please have a look at the dataset in the Google docs link provided by @ODE90D We've been taking down quite a bit of data while charging. My next step is finding time, hopefully this week, to do...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

While I can't speak for the OP, I can definitely say on my own behalf that I didn't move on after being told my battery pack was just fine after having a service because my charge rate at the superchargers dropped from 115-117kW to 92-95kW without any explanation. I've been trying to figure out...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

@TexasEV I'm going to take the liberty of re-using a post I just did on electrek on the same topic. Hope you'll forgive my lazyness ... it's 10:21 pm here in Denmark :) For me, as an owner of a Model S P90D, the decrease in supercharger rate causes a very real, measurable 7 minute delay on my...

If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

We're seeing it on multiple cars in Denmark with the 90 kWh packs. Including mine.
