    Model S saved my life

Glad to hear the OP is okay. That's a heckuva crash to walk away from. - I wouldn't even have an ounce of concern about insurance coverage; you'll be fine. Even when people wreck their cars, get DWI's and are arrested; insurance still covers damage to the vehicle. - Once again, great to hear you...

Real Time Chronicle of my Body Shop Experience

    - You are correct in that those are very different words; under most circumstances. - But in terms of an insurance policy; which is a legally binding contract between the company and the insured, the word 'allows' means it's the company's discretion. - It may not be common knowledge; but dig...

    Car Damage

Aw man; that hurts. Sorry to hear it.........and even stranger to see the pic!:-( - Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (can't look it up right now) but From what I recall JonMc from Tesla said in the other accident/repair; it sounds like there will be someone from Tesla assigned to your...

Reality of upgrading battery packs (60kw -----> 100kw)

    - You bring up a good point Reeler. I wonder if the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act would come into play here, if Tesla made a stink on other warranty issue, just because you swapped to an aftermarket battery?(see below) - - In a Consumer Alert issued by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the agency...

Real Time Chronicle of my Body Shop Experience

    - I have several times, and I do understand what you're talking about. But, from a practical standpoint for a consumer; my point is just that a reputable bodyshop/dealership will offer a lifetime guarantee in writing on any work. (Using repair products and techniques warrantied for life by...

Real Time Chronicle of my Body Shop Experience

    - I'll have to disagree with this statement. Any reputable bodyshop will offer a lifetime guarantee in writing on all work. And getting paint to stick to a bumper cover requires proper prep work. And with adhesion promoters (prep work) and flex additives in paint for flexible plastic bumper...

Real Time Chronicle of my Body Shop Experience

    - Actually, virtually every insurance company policy allows for the use of used/recycled/Like Kind Quality parts. It's extremely common as most indicate they have to come off a same model year or newer vehicle, have less miles then the vehicle they are going on and be in excellent condition...

Reality of upgrading battery packs (60kw -----> 100kw)

As far as folks trading in their Teslas, I don't recall exact figures. But from wh - I would think as EV popularity increases; there will be more and more aftermarket companies offering battery upgrades. When Tesla sees that, I'd speculate they would offer battery upgrades to compete.

    Control arm corrosion

I posted my observation of that upper control arm in another thread. It does indeed appear to be the upper control arm, from other pix I've seen. But, it's strange that it's stamped steel as opposed to cast/machined aluminum like all the other suspension parts. Unless Tesla has changed that...

Rusting of the rear lift gate attachment points

    - I don't have any concern with the surface rust on the clip itself holding the strut on the ball joint, either. But, that rusted surface on the mount, at the white painted body of the vehicle; could cause an increased degradation of the corrosion protection. Nothing of concern yet; but years...

AC Recirc not working and AC not as cold as prior to 8.0?

    - That's awesome to hear. I wonder why they don't have that option to request something like that directly from the touchscreen in the car, in the app or from MyTesla?........it would be one less phone call the customer had to make AND one less call a Tesla employee has to answer. I would think...

Adaptive Volume for Audio system and GPS Voice

    - My 2007 Toyota pickup has it on the lowly CD player model stereo with the ole Union Jack style display. It just adjusts the volume based off the increase/decrease in voltage. It's a pretty nice feature; and not overly complicated.

Motley Fool story - Tesla Replacement Part Delays

Thanks for that reply Jon; I look forward to seeing the results of this action plan and seeing a more normalization (relatively speaking) of the collision repair process. - I think most high-end manufacturers, certified bodyshops could quickly take on Tesla certification. - Most high-end...

Motley Fool story - Tesla Replacement Part Delays

    - Or some aftermarket company needs to get their hands on a model S and a model 3; duplicate sheetmetal parts and if they can make those parts readily available; they can price them the same as the OE part and it would be like printing money. - Heck; even if said aftermarket sheetmetal needs a...

Motley Fool story - Tesla Replacement Part Delays

Sadly; these kinds of stories have kept my wife and I from pulling the trigger on a CPO purchase. (But I agree; these stories need to be brought into the light) - I'm sure the QC issues and repair delays are not the norm; but it's all too common a story for us to comfortably drop $80k on a Model...

    Small scratch on the trunk

$50 might get you a brush touch of a close colormatch. But for any shop to guarantee the clear coat will not peel and get a good colormatch; they will have to sand down the chipped area; possibly put a small skim coat of filler in that chipped area; then spot refinish the color at the site of...

    Tesla Chrome Trim Quality Failure

Any idea what the easy fix people mentioned entails?

Bad repair experience, Tesla needs to open up

That sucks OP; sorry to hear it. - But the bodyshops complaining about aluminum repairs is absurd. There have been other cars with aluminum panels around for years. And god forbid, the shop get one of those ultra rare, highly exotic, newer Ford F-150's to work in that are all aluminum. (Gasp!)...

    100,000 miles 2014 Classic 85 Model S Review

Nice write up wcfin; good to hear you still love your S. - Hey yobigd; not sure how long you've owned your S; but let's hear your impressions with those miles.:-)

Actual 0-60 performance of the S85D?

    - Quite a nice update indeed................I wouldn't be taking our car to the track, or anything like that; I was just kicking around the $ difference vs. performance difference on an 85D vs. P85D. (and our family's needs/wants)

Actual 0-60 performance of the S85D?

I certainly understand being conservative on their non-P numbers; but the published CPO times on cars available are showing 0-60 in 5.2 and owners are now reporting 0-60 in the 3.8 range?!?!?...........that's just a heckuva difference.........but in a good way.:-)...........I'm just having...

Actual 0-60 performance of the S85D?

o_OExcuse my ignorance on this thread and the link/video bmah posted ..........but if understand correctly............are the actual Tesla published 0-60 times for CPO's 85D (non-P) incorrect?..........and if they are incorrect; is it from software updates bumping up the performance of the CPO's...

Holy crap, repairs are insanely expensive, beware!!

Definitely stinks for the OP; hopefully things move along quickly at the shop and parts arrive sooner then later. Threads like these certainly give me pause on my CPO search.:-( - As mentioned; I don't see how the brake calipers could have damage from the incident; besides maybe a cosmetic bump...

Does Tesla want to sell CPO's??

New guy here. Been researching for months; test drove locally and almost pulled the trigger on new; but I think CPO is the route we are going to go. More bang for our price range. - Bumping this thread to get it back up top. Would like to hear more feedback on people's CPO experiences or further...
