MCU2 Upgrade - Backgammon not working

It's not actually a game to be played. It's a secret switch for the factory to enable manufacturing mode. They had to put it somewhere, and didn't think anyone alive today knew what backgammon was, let alone played it. (yes, I'm joking)

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

the real question now, unfortunately, is: pay for MCU2 upgrade, or wait and pay for MCU3 upgrade -- which may be far more capable and future-proof?

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

Thanks for the comments of support... It is hard to know when things go well, because usually people complain when there are issues. I'll probably upgrade, if for no other reason than to get dashcam functionality. The problem with the yellow border thing is Tesla's ridiculous legal language...

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

I'm wanting to upgrade the whole MCU2 but I'm scared of making my car into a (unique) snowflake. I've seen some reports of problems after-upgrade. Can anyone confirm that they did the upgrade, but it didn't cause new weird problems? Right now, the software team has to validate their releases...

MCU1 S Owners: Logic FOR/AGAINST Tesla's $2,500 "Infotainment Upgrade"? (Not required for FSD)

what the heck is Tesla thinking... seriously, did they actually say this plan out loud in a conference room and all agree it's a good idea? I am exactly the customer who would spend $2500 to get an upgraded experience, but you're going to just break existing functionality that many people use...

Summon failure - sudden turn as reversing out of garage crushed mirror

This is a very real phenomenon and still occurs on latest software. Both Model S and Model 3. It's actually pretty frequent for me.

    screen discoloration

Why would they? (1) Because it is a known defect, of materials or manufacturing. (I do not care which, the distinction does not matter to me) (2) Because rather than repair when obligation was clear but root cause was unknown, they pushed their customers to wait until root cause was known...

    Model S REST API

followup to above. Model 3: It doesn't seem to be broken. Doing those things to warm up the interior of the car worked great. Model S: this is where the problem is. Over the last hour I've watched as the car crept up in interior temperature very very slowly. I notice the following under...

    Model S REST API

what is best practice for preheating the car? All I've found so far is: auto_conditioning_start() set_temps(driver_temp = 25.5,passenger_temp = 25.5) remote_seat_heater_request(heater=0, level=3) remote_seat_heater_request(heater=1, level=3) Do we have other controls? It doesn't appear...

    Yellow border on screen... again...

I pinged Tesla about this today. They said the redesigned part is being tested. ETA late spring/early summer. No waitlist.

    Model S REST API

I'm anxiously awaiting it too. These days I control my Teslas via API to do things like warm up in the morning. But let's be real.. the odds of guessing the endpoint, parameters, and valid values are not good. :-)

Tesla Model S UMC cut open and modified to J1772

thanks, I didnt realize he would sell the cable directly without the service (I really want to do it myself, for peace of mind). Anyone have ideas about joining the heavy cables? with 12AWG I would strongly consider using several crimp connects, but a little heat shrink isn't going to do it...

Tesla Model S UMC cut open and modified to J1772

Where do you find the bare cable that matches the UMC --> Tesla plug part? I need to extend this. It would be easy to use 6/2 AWG SOOW to hack something together, but I really want the result to be clean, sealed, and viable for outdoor. Although I'm probably overthinking it, because i don't...

    BlackVue DR750S 2CH Dash Camera $299

Thanks for the tip. Only felt a slight need for a dashcam before, but this car costs 3x as much and people drive 5x as crazy around it.

Blog I Like Big Batteries And I Cannot Lie

We need the range. I'm a new model S owner that is starting to realize that 250 miles is not 250 miles, it's more like 150-180 miles in order to allow the battery charge algorithm to efficiently extend the life of the cells. My habit is now to charge to 90% on the weekend, but 60% or so during...
