Tesla service text saying "lock your key inside your vehicle using your app"

What was the outcome? I've heard this a few times on my car, but only occasionally...

Relocating to UK...what to do with my Tesla?

Tesla insurance in the U.K. isn't cheap, and not every company does it. I suspect it'll be very expensive for you to insure a lhd Tesla, since you'll have no U.K. driving history ('no claims') and it'll be a very unusual Tesla.

    Insurance New Vehicle [2021 Megathread]

Nope. Pretty much every insurance policy will allow you to cancel without charge before the day of first insurance, and they should all allow you to change the date. Just pick the date you expect, and if you get a change, call them to alter the date.

    Keyed!

Good point! I'm calling them in the morning to let them know I'm removing the salt with a hose. More seriously though, respecting your car a different colour (I.e. not oem paint) is likely to be the sort of mod they like to know about. They get upset with stickers...

    Keyed!

And then tell your insurance company you've modified it, which will increase premiums.

    Acceleration Boost £1.5k

Direct line just added a note to say that it was added, but premium was unchanged. They had to add 'autopilot' to it to make the premium reasonable, even though all cars have it, it's not part of the default discount.

Tesla have given my in-depth personal details to another owner!

I handed my Model S back in August, did the erase/wipe in the car, send emails to Tesla asking them to remove it from my account, then promptly forgot about it. October, ordered a Model 3 and logged into my account to see the Model S still there. Contacted them again, waited.. Still on my...

    Keyed!

I've had direct experience of this. You can also experience this yourself when doing a quote. Build a quote without any claims, see the price, then go back and add a no-fault claim (malicious damage) and watch the quote price increase. I estimate it cost me a few hundred over the 5 years I had...

    Debugging TeslaCam

The Tesla usb stick I got with the car shows up as just wanting usb-storage, so is likely to be much more stable since it's not using the oft-maligned uas driver. No way to tell if Tesla's kernel has uas enabled?

    Debugging TeslaCam

Mine is a refresh. The usb 3 vs 2 gave me an idea. I took the drive and put it back on a machine in a USB 3 port and under high I/O it had frequent resets with I/O pausing for 10-15 seconds. In USB 2, no issues (but much slower) Disabled UAS and back to USB 3 and working fine under high load...

    Debugging TeslaCam

Most of the time it doesn't seem to be working. No error messages. Stop the car and have the option to reformat, which works fine, or doesn't do anything. Using a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 500GB. Checked using bad locks, no issues with the drive. Any suggestions on how to figure out...

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

I plugged my brand new one straight into the super chargers at Birmingham (so 50m driving). Managed to charge about 2 miles worth in 10 mins, but car was also having fits about Incompatible Vehicle Modification Detected and Power Reduced, but it also needed a software update, and I'd just turned...

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

2nd 'should I' - mudguards? There is another thread running where someone quotes Tesla saying that all cars post April have them, but my delivery didn't come with any. Normal?

What charging adapters are included? I got a type 2 cable and a EVSE, I /thought/ there should be a J1772 but doesn't appear to be one, wanted to check I wasn't the only one and that they're not standard.

    2019/20 Orders and Deliveries [closed]

Anyone attempted to add Acceleration Boost to their order so it appears on the invoice and can just be paid for as a whole, rather than having to wait until after the car appears in the app?

    Buying a Used Model S

Company cars have this 4p style rate. Private cars on company business can be paid up to the 45p without issue. If you own your own car and your employer pays you less, you can recover the rest on your tax return.

    Extended warranty costs

New owner, already had one sticking door handle repaired. Given that my lease is for 80k miles (4 years), and the normal warranty for stuff like handles, seats etc expires at 50k, what options are there for extended warranties? Got a call into Axa, any idea how much they charge for the extra...

    A Better Routeplanner

Yes and yes. While a series of bends might be in a 60 limit, those of us from England will probably be getting an average of 30-40 out of them, in Snowdonia. Or meet a tractor with a bus behind it. Or a lorry. Or a bunch (group? gaggle? hassle?) of cyclists.

    A Better Routeplanner

Not sure if I am using the planner wrong. When I plan a route from Cricceth (North Wales) to Rugby (UK), BRP shows a time of around 2h26. A Better Routeplanner Google maps does the same route in about 3h30 or so. This is much closer to what is expect. I suspect that BRP isn't taking into...

    Navigation vs. Google

Do you rely on the tesla nav app to get around or do you have to continually second-guess it since it generates questionable routes? ----- Example: Picked up my Model S and drove back from Birmingham to south of Rugby. Google maps on my phone recommended the M6, car decided A45. Fine, I'll go...
