Cost of a new small (12 volt) battery

On my invoice in Dec 22 it was $165 for the battery and $42 for labor plus state tax. I found it hard to find a compatible battery outside of Tesla and the ones that would physically fit had the posts inverted so I would have had to add an extension cable. Not something I wanted to do.

    Door Handle not presenting

Correct. Tesla will only replace the entire door handle assembly for about $300. If it's just the paddle gear that is broken they sell it $6 but you will have to replace it yourself.

Would like some opinions regarding new tires on a 2017 75D

I had the same decision to make about 3 years ago and decided to just stay with the Goodyears. Knowing that I would only drive about 5K Miles per year and that any tire gets noisy as the rubber hardens with age, purchasing a tire that typically lasts only 25-30K miles was acceptable. I got the...

    New Model S build quality

This is sad to see. I would have thought Tesla fixed this irritating issue on the refresh (2021+). My 2017 75D has "regularly scheduled" door panel problems. They eventually loosen up over time but never completely fall of since there are two bolts and about 8 plastic clips and 4 metal...

Need some guidance on a Tesla S

If your handy than it's only $6 to purchase a replacement paddle gear on Gen3 door handles which is what typically breaks on them. Gen3 door handles were introduced Jun/Jul 2017.

    Market value for Plaid

Definitely a "Good Deal". It even says so, therefore it must be true. We all know the 21's always add at least 10K+ to the value.

    Market value for Plaid

A local dealer seems to think used is worth more than new. It's been for sale since April of last year! Dealer info blocked out as I wouldn't want anyone to jump ahead of me to purchase....lol.

    12V battery source

@electricar I am an engineer by trade and can't think of anything but a charging profile specific to what type of battery is installed as to the reason why this menu item exists. Please enlighten me as to other reasons. Thanks.

    12V battery source

I forgot to mention that shortly after I had the 12V battery replaced I noticed in the service menu that the 12V battery type no longer matched what was installed so I went ahead and changed it. Not sure if the technician even new about this setting or not. The previous battery had the red...

    12V battery source

There seems to be a lot of different part numbers for the 12V battery depending on model year. Attached is mine from Dec 2022 for a 2017 Model S 75D. I couldn't find an equivalent battery that had the posts in the correct orientation so I ended up purchasing direct from Tesla and had them...

Tesla charged me for warranty service 2022 MSLR

After Tesla went into high volume production with the Model 3 their once extraordinary service such as fixing rattles...

    Gen 3 door handle buzzing/squealing

The only thing that would make that noise is a stalled handle motor. I can find the part number (#24 below) for the front door motor on Tesla's part catalog but can't find one for the rear doors which seems strange. I would assume that they are the same part though. Designated as an Over the...

No listenable music/audio in my car

No listenable music/audio in my car

Thanks. I am shopping for a new car for my wife but have been hesitant on getting another Tesla because of these "glitches" that are introduced. Two steps forward and one step back or at times zero steps forward and two steps back.

No listenable music/audio in my car

I am having the same issues on all my in car streaming music choices. I don't have XM so can speak to that option. Problem since at least 2023.2.10, 2023.2.11 and now 2023.2.12.

I just noticed multiple instances of this same error in my service menu along with another error, DI_w015_immoblizer. I found a website, "Tesla Alerts Dictionary" that decodes these but doesn't really give any further insight. Things that make you go Hmmmm...

    AC compressor & Receiver dryer/desiccant

I will add to the "grand standing" by noting that my Mom's 2000 Toyota Camry has never had the A/C serviced and still blows cold as of last year. I just looked at the owners manual and it is silent as far as any desiccant replacement requirement/schedule and has never been recommended by the...

Class Action Lawsuit Model S door handle failure

While the gen 3 hall sensor seems to be more robust than the microswitches, the paddle gear is not...at least not the ones that came with my Aug 2017 build. I recently replaced a paddle gear with one that was obviously a revised part (104285-00-B). It is now "skeletonized" and no longer has...

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

Thanks for sharing your picture as it shows the clearance issue for the motor screws. I understand drilling the hole allows movement of the shaft just enough to slip the new gear on but from the YouTube video that I saw where they drilled the hole they had to use a hammer and considerable force...

Anyone ever changed paddle gear on “Gen3” door handle assy?

I just completed replacing the paddle gear on my gen 3 door handle. The set screw size that holds the shaft is a T8 Torx. You can find a set from Harborfreight. SKU is 97517. I removed the shaft without having to drill a hole as I took it out the opposite way in which it was originally...

PureFlow cabin filters - any real life experience?

I installed a PureFlow cabin air filter (PC99476X) about three years ago. It took care of the musty odor when using the AC so I would give it a thumbs up. I don't have the Bioweapon HEPA filter so I can't comment on that.

    Air filter - 2018 Model S 75D non-HEPA

There is only the cabin air filter if you don't have the Bioweapon HEPA air filter. The cabin air filter is behind the glove box. The design is the same from 2016 after the refresh and didn't change until 2021. I purchased it from Amazon. It took care of the musty odor I had when running...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Houstonian said it was "Covered by the 50k warranty" (I assume it was replaced for no cost with the basic 4 yr/50k mile warranty), not that it came with a 50k warranty. There's a big difference.

    Turn Air-conditioning on Automatically?

Cabin overheat protection seems to cover what you want. It is a separate setting not related to normal climate settings and is active when interior exceeds 105 degrees although only lasts 12 hours or until battery drops below 20% which seems reasonable.

Don't get in an accident in your Tesla unless you like waiting for repairs

No argument Tesla has issues with parts availability. I had to wait 1 month for a windshield pre-pandemic and 3 weeks for a headlight but having to wait 7 months has got to be pushing near record wait times even for Tesla.

Don't get in an accident in your Tesla unless you like waiting for repairs

Long wait time for parts are not unique to Tesla. A friend of mine ran into a curb the day after a snow storm on Dec 26th last year and is finally getting all the parts (suspension and side curtain air bags) to put it all back together on a Mazda CX-5 which is Mazda's most popular auto. That's...

I wonder how many buyers will delay taking delivery until next year if they have a model 3 or Y on order now and are scheduled to take delivery before end of year. Upgrading MCU2

That's good you got it installed before the price bump. For the browser problem somethings obviously not working correctly. While I wouldn't suggest MCU2 has a blazing fast browser, it certainly is usable compared to the MCU1 browser which was completely useless.

    Tesla no longer uncorking vehicles?

Lesson learned....never believe a sales rep as they know nothing and clearly make stuff up (aka BS)! Congratulations on your performance upgrade at a cost of zero? July of 2017 was the tipping point for me to seriously consider the purchase of a Model S when Tesla announced that the 75D 0-60...
