Both will work for both cars but they are different in the way they take outlet attachments. You will need to keep the plugs with the original charger cable.

When I ordered my Model X last month, the website had a VIN almost immediately once it was in production. My X was delivered 3 weeks later. 4 weeks total from ordering on the site to delivery.
