Is very weak rear heat normal on Model X?

no matter what you do, the rear heater is no good in cold climates. i've been arguing this with tesla for months. after careful testing, it is clear that it takes 50 minutes (when driving 60mph) to get the rear pillar vents to blow warm air.....no matter what else i try as for the settings...

    MX Rear Heat Performance

see my post today about ABSURDLY POOR rear heater and pls let me know if your dealer has any better answer than mine. I have to get rid of my MX due to rear heat issue that tesla says CANNOT be fixed or improved. In Chicago when it's below 20F, it takes 50 minutes for the rear pillar vents to...

I have to get rid of my MX due to rear heat issue that tesla says CANNOT be fixed or improved. In Chicago when it's below 20F, it takes 50 minutes for the rear pillar vents to blow warm air. this is unacceptable in a $100k car !! People in back tell me they're cold. I've had the car in service...

    What would you do?

I have an MX in Chicago and don't think the 75 battery should even be sold in cold climates. the X is big and takes a lot of heat. which uses a lot of battery. hence really lousy range in winter. if I had it to do over, i'd get the 100 battery on an X. MAYBE the 75 is ok for an S. not sure

Is very weak rear heat normal on Model X?

rear heater in MX is unacceptably bad. Mine has been in the shop a few times and they tell me "try this setting; turn of that." doesn't matter. it's still no good and apparently no way to fix. specifically, at 35F today I preheated the car for 45 minutes. then used rear heat on MANUAL/HIGH. I...

    Rear Heater in X

The rear heater is another unacceptable design flaw in the MX. the manual and Tesla service say "rear heater doesn't work if no passenger in back seat" but that is wrong. if the rear heat is set to manual, it should produce hot air from the vents on the rear door pillar. Mine did not and I...

    What would you do?

wondering how you got them to buy it back. I assume by agreement? and not via lemon law?

    What would you do?

good question. I wouldn't buy a 75 if you live in cold climate. i'm in Chicago and the 75 is totally inadequate because the heater uses so much battery. I've told tesla that I don't think they should even sell the 75 in cold climates.

    Pearson Airport 10day cold soak

yup. agreed. i wish Elon would do something about this. as i said in a previous post "the X 75 shouldn't even be sold in cold weather climates. they advertised 235 miles but that ain't even close to accurate he in cold Chicago. all the 75 batteries should be replaced with 100's. i don't mind the...

    Pearson Airport 10day cold soak

I've had my X for about 6 wks. and for 10 days here in Chicago it never got above 20F. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS that they should not even sell a 75 battery in cold climates! even when fully charged the range is unacceptable when using the heater. The X is hard to keep warm (inside the car) and...

    Lousy Range Cold Weather

Battery range is really lousy and unacceptable here in freezing cold Chicago. Below about 20F i have to keep the the heater running on high and that GREATLY reduces range and increases battery drain. did Tesla every test this car outside of calif???? I've had my X for about a month and loved...

    Battery Efficiency | Range

my new X sucks in freezing cold Chicago. horrible range when it's below 20F and I need to run the heater on high. DID ELON PLAN TO ONLY SELL THIS CAR IN CALIF??? several people commented on a dead battery (or very low) when left at airport. I kinda new at this but isn't there a setting to turn...

Got 17.42.a. XM folder list back and smoother stopping

I was a dedicated XM listener in previous cars and sure wish I could ad it to my new model X but tesla says there is NO WAY. does anyone know otherwise? TuneIn is horrible for CNN and can't even get CNBC etc (other than via Bluetooth from my phone). I listen to news and financials channels a...

    TuneIn Premium login work?

TUNEIN is so bad for news that it almost makes me want to trade in my new X for one with XM radio. very sorry I didn't order with XM. i'm probably the exception but I listen mostly to CNN and CNBC. on CNN the commericals are LONG, VERY REPETITIVE and annoying. not the same as on broadcast CNN...

Range in winter conditions and mountain driving

I'm a new model X owner. the fuel guage and battery meter are confusing. on a typical day, the fuel guage says 210 miles. the battery graph meter CONSTANTLY changes. starts out at around 180 miles.....after 10 miles it might go down to 110 miles if i'm driving in stop/go...then goes back up to...

Rough Power Situation - Should I upgrade? Electric advice sought

did you use a special 30amp plug purchased from tesla? or just anything that would plug into your outlet. some say that special plug is needed so that the car knows what amperage to use. i kinda think the car computer can figure it out??

Home Charging - What do I need to do/buy?

thanks but...i'm getting conflicting answers. do i really need to buy a 30 amp plug/adapter to charge at 30 amp/220v? some say this "magic" adapter tells the car to only charge at 24A or 30A and not more? or if i use ANY plug and 30A/220V will the car computer figure out what amperage is being...

    How to build a 30 Amp Extension Cord for 24 A, 240 V charging

very helpful info BUT I'M GETTING CONFLICTING answers: 1. tesla says the car will adjust to amperage/voltage supplied . some owners have said "be sure to dial down the setting on the car" if using 30amp extension cord 2. i'm rigging a 100' cord for EMERGENCY use. the 240v tesla male plug is 4...
