    Supercharger - Beaver, UT

The old chargers are still bagged and unusable. The car wash is gone! Nothing but an odd section of gravel where the building used to be. Looks like they put up some posts along the back of the 250s making it harder to pull back there with a trailer. Still possible but only for one car with a...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Scripps Poway Parkway (LIVE 9 Nov 2021, 12 V3 stalls)

Tesla says 20 chargers here but I only count 12. Where are the other 8?

    Charging in/around Pinnacles National Park

I hiked the Balconies Cliffs Trail planning on coming back on the Balconies Cave Trail -- but the trail back was closed so I had to retrace the Cliffs trail back. Make sure you know what's open and what's not.

    Charging in/around Pinnacles National Park

We camped at Pinnacles Campground at the east entrance. They only had 30 amp (TT-30 plug) service. I tried to plug our car in to the TT-30 and our trailer into the 20 amp but popped a circuit breaker upstream, not in our campsite. I had to go get a maintenance guy to turn it back on. He told me...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Scripps Poway Parkway (LIVE 9 Nov 2021, 12 V3 stalls)

I would like something around Pine Valley. That gap between El Centro and San Diego is a bit large for all the hills one must traverse, especially when pulling our trailer.

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

I'd love to see a supercharger in Borrego Springs. Right now there aren't even any L2 anymore. I booked a 50 amp campsite and used that for charging overnight but if there were a supercharger there I could boondock (dry camp). I wonder if we'll see Rivian install some chargers out by the...

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Santa Ysabel is the intersection of Hwys 78 and 79. Lots of folk heading to the desert, Palm Springs, or maybe Palomar Mountain. I actually found a use for it today. I planned on going to Borrego Springs, which I can make from home and back again, except I had to go someplace else first. By the...

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Stopped by today. No change except 2 spots were ICEd. Doesn't matter much when they don't work yet but perhaps a future problem. Today was the first time I've come up with a use case for these for me. After driving around all day and ending up in Julian with little charge, I knew it wouldn't...

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Took the wrong car up on Monday. The chargers aren't operational yet so I didn't feel too bad blocking a spot with my non-Tesla. The last photo was taken yesterday when I drove the "proper" car up the hill. Still waiting on that SDG&E big box. Everything else looks good to go.

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Stopped by after dark 1 March. Looks like the left chargers are ready. The base on the right ones don't have cement around them like on the left. Anyone know why the 4 on the left are close together while the right ones are spaced out? Cybertruck ready? There's certainly no way to charge...

    Supercharger - Santa Ysabel, CA (LIVE 29 Mar 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Hopefully I did it right this time. These were taken today, 25 February at about 5 pm. Quite a lot of progress since last week. I spoke with one of the workers and he said if things go well it should be online by the end of March. It probably mainly depends on when SDGE gets out there to do...

Towing an Alto F1743 trailer with a Model X

They hold their value very well. A 5 year old trailer looks brand new. People are selling used ones at about what they paid for it. The "new" price goes up every year. There is a facebook group called Altoistes Marketplace (Facebook Groups) for buying and selling. When I take a glance I see a...

Towing an Alto F1743 trailer with a Model X

Just throwing our 2 cents in on efficiency. We've towed our A2124 now for about 3000 miles. There was a lot of hills to climb and descend since we started in the Rockies, crossed Utah, Idaho, and Oregon on the way to the coast, then back across the Cascades to central Oregon and down to...

Towing an Alto F1743 trailer with a Model X

Hey we followed you there -- sort of. We also stayed at Shingletown KOA, but about 1-2 weeks later. We were there from 26 August to 28 August -- so really just the one full day to explore Lassen. We also had to swing down by Paynes Creek, because, well, you know! This was the first time I'd...

    Supercharger - Hawthorne, CA - W 120th St (LIVE 5 Oct 2020, 20 V3 stalls)

There seems to be a lot of charging options in this area already. We were just over at The Hawthorne - El Segundo Blvd supercharger charging up before coming to Target -- only to discover more "soon to be" chargers. It looks like they're ready for service any day. Had these been available we...

    Supercharger - Fargo, ND

Looks like a couple other CHAdeMO coming to Fargo "soon" -- supposedly by summer 2020. Hopefully the Fargo supercharger will be up by then too. Without the Noodles and Company CHAdeMO and these new units being operational getting out of Fargo must be tricky. Hopefully the CHAdeMO at Bemidji is...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur (Black Mountain Ranch area, LIVE 11 Jan 2019)

I was there Monday night. One charger max output was a sporadic 30 kw. Another had a broken handle so totally useless. I finally found one that worked right. The whole time the most in use was about 4-5 chargers and after midnight I was the only one still there -- yet the whole time the status...

    Alto A2124 Hitch Concerns

@ecarfan thank you for the summary. That does at least explain things better and I can understand the points. Alto A2124 Hitch Concerns

I read that whole discussion and I'm still confused. To WDH or not -- that is the question. We have the stock Tesla receiver -- I guess that's what is being called the Bosal hitch (receiver)? In that other thread someone mentioned the DrawTite WD hitch, which is something that plugs into a...

    Alto A2124 Hitch Concerns

From what I've read here and elsewhere A WD hitch isn't required if the weight of the trailer is 1/2 that of the car. The 2124 is a little less than 1/2. Maybe loaded it gets closer. The self adjusting suspension of the Tesla should keep things balanced out and the headlights from pointing at...

    Alto A2124 Hitch Concerns

Electric only isn't an option on the 21' trailers. When talking with AltoGrayhound he wondered if one could just get two of the smaller DC fridges. That wasn't an option when we speced ours out. Even though we have propane (dual fuel / three way actually -- DC power, shore power, or propane)...

    Alto A2124 Hitch Concerns

I think the height of the 17' trailer is about 17" while the 21' trailer is closer to 20". Hmm -- an inch higher per foot longer? Almost. Anyway, Safari Condo seems real bent on keeping the trailer level and NOT modifying the trailer hitch to do so. Jacking up the weigh safe would be easy but...

    Alto A2124 Hitch Concerns

I am currently working with Safari Condo re: the A2124 and the Weigh Safe Hitch. I bought the hitch and when I hook it up -- even pointed up (out of spec) the top of the ball is only 17", which is less than the recommended 20" for the Safari Condo A2124. How do you @ecarfan -- how do you deal...

Supercharger - Blythe, CA (unconfirmed V3 location, no permit has been issued)

    Supercharger - Dickinson, ND

Try driving it pulling a camp trailer. I think we'll be skipping Theodore Roosevelt National Park on this trip. We are peeking into ND by staying in Fargo a couple nights. Getting out of there requires looping back through Minnesota and hitting one destination charger and a CHAdeMO before...

Supercharger rate increase and cost of electricity in San Diego area

This is where the powerwalls come into play. All solar charges the batteries on weekend mornings while I continue to run off the grid at the 9 cents. At 2 pm the house switches to running off the battery and sending solar to the grid for maximum payment/savings. Sadly, the batteries do tend to...

Supercharger rate increase and cost of electricity in San Diego area

EV-TOU-5 and EV-TOU-2 use the same TOU periods, so it just comes down to the cost per kWh at the different times, unless you're on the EV-TOU-2 grandfathered plan. To make a long story short, SDG&E changes the rates for the peak, semi, and off periods to their advantage -- no surprise. So, if...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur (Black Mountain Ranch area, LIVE 11 Jan 2019)

Really? It is still showing up on the map for me. Interestingly though, if you click it, nothing happens. When I click other locations (existing or future) an information window pops up. No longer so for the Carmel Mountain one. Sad. I was hoping to see this one come on line too. Too greedy?

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur (Black Mountain Ranch area, LIVE 11 Jan 2019)

Actually Carmel Mountain would be better for a 120 kW charger as it is closer to the freeway. I'm sure it would be swarmed with locals regardless.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur (Black Mountain Ranch area, LIVE 11 Jan 2019)

Much like "La Jolla" or "Mira Mesa" Carmel Mountain is an area of San Diego, not a town in itself. Tesla does seem to name them by town and then street name to identify those where are more than one in a town.

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur (Black Mountain Ranch area, LIVE 11 Jan 2019)

This supercharger has finally made the tesla.com/findus page -- and guess what -- the Carmel Mountain and Escondido locations are still on there as "coming in 2019." This one is listed as "San Diego, CA - Camino Del Sur Supercharger" the same as in the app or on the tesla car screen. So --...

It's been a couple days since someone has commented so I I stopped by tonight to see if there was any change. Looks like something more permanent over the extra conduit. The boxes all have locks. The pallet "Do Not Step" is still there covering something. Plastic bags still over the chargers.
