Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Initially, that's what I thought as well. Then, I noticed Thousand Oaks Boulevard below, as well as S. Westlake Blvd. The northern border of the Promenade is E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., and the hyphen is before, not after, East. So, I think east more likely refers to the street, not the section...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

@ecarfan My post was obviously not clear enough — I wasn’t arguing about Tesla’s right to designate the site. If you review the screenshots posted by @rrosenbl and @BruceR61, you will notice the text reads: Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Boulevard I was simply pointing out that...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

@BruceR61 @Cici&Mimi @4SUPER9 The designation of the site isn’t Thousand Oaks East. It’s just Thousand Oaks — the the section of Thousand Oaks Blvd. east of Moorpark Rd. is E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. West of that (and entering the Oaks Mall), it’s W. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - West Hillcrest Drive (LIVE 3 Aug 2018, Urban type)

@MonkeyTOGA This site reminds me of the conditions we saw in Westlake several weeks ago. The work by the contractor seems mostly complete, but SCE has not installed their equipment.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

It seems the “problem” was they hadn’t finished some of the connections.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Another update — I just spoke with Caruso security and an electrical contractor on site. Apparently SCE shut down power to a section of the mall last night at 9PM (3/18, as SCE predicted!) to allow them to switch on power to the SCs. They discovered a couple issues that the contractor must...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

I think it’s time for someone to flip the switch. Since this morning, they’ve removed the construction fencing, planted the last of the shrubs, spread mulch that was in one of the parking spaces over much of the new drip line, and cleaned up. You can now see the SCs from Westlake Blvd.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

@rrosenbl The chargers aren’t alive yet, but BrightView is back on site today. They are installing drip irrigation along the fence, and cleaning up the area near Westlake Blvd.. The plants you mentioned were probably earmarked for the area they are cleaning up. I’ll check again this...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

I forgot to mention that I spoke with someone at Caruso’s Calabasas office last Friday, before leaving town for a few days. She wasn’t absolutely certain, but thought the opening date had been scheduled for Monday 3/19. That would comport with SCE’s due date of 3/18. We’ll see. Meanwhile...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

It’s definitely a case of “hurry up, and wait.” SCE worked on both Sat and Sun, only to have everything grind to a halt the past two days. Presumably they need final inspection before they go live.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Looking good. It’s hard to imagine why it can’t open before the 18th.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Who expected to see this on a Saturday? SCE installed the transformer, and completed some of their wiring today. Even more surprising — they plan to return tomorrow to continue their work. According to SCE, the scheduled completion date is 3/18. But, they can’t understand how it could take...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Once again, there was no activity at the site today. The construction crew moved on their next project —the Santa Clarita location — weeks ago. A few of them returned yesterday, but just to complete their work (sidewalk repair) here. Caruso uses BrightView for landscaping, and any remaining...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Good news, and bad news. Good — the sidewalk has been repaired. Bad — SCE has NOT feeling finished installing their equipment. Apparently, according to the construction crew, even though there are multiple underground vaults, SCE still intends to install additional equipment above ground...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

The construction crew is back!! They are pouring cement today, to patch the Westlake Blvd. sidewalk. Then, the temporary fencing should come down. The wrought iron fence along the off ramp still needs to be repaired, and there is no irrigation for the plants along that fence. But, that...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

The project seems stalled again. Someone exposed most of the sidewalk that’s in need to repair. Otherwise, nothing is happening here today.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

There was no work underway this morning. Except for the area allong the off ramp fence, the irrigation is complete. Perhaps they are holding off on that area until the fence is repaired? The equipment area is still protected by temporary fencing. That probably won’t change until the Westlake...

    Supercharger - Calabasas, CA - Commons Way (LIVE 12 May 2022, 20 V3 stalls)

@RodNim I’m not convinced the SCs will be installed the back, where the equipment is currently being stored. I walked the entire parking lot in front, looking for evidence of future construction. There is a lot of construction activity, but it’s all related to reworking curbs. However...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Finally !!! Someone from Tesla confirmed our expectations— “the SCs will be turned on before the end of this month.” BrightView is on site today, working on the irrigation. Assuming the completion of their work is the only remaining task, we may indeed have an operational SC early next week.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

When I stopped by this afternoon, almost all of the plants were in the ground, and they were installing drip irrigation. It might be hard to discern in my photo, but you can see where the trench near Wedtlake Blvd. is filled in. Before they take down the fence at that end, they’ll probably...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Good news!! Most of the fencing is down, the trench for SCE’s connection to Westlake Blvd. is filled (so presumably the equipment is now powered), and the landscaping is being installed.

    Supercharger - Aspen, CO

I wouldn’t expect to see construction anytime soon. I’ve visited the Tesla store many times (most recently yesterday) and received the same message — they haven’t identified a location. Once they solve that problem, they’ll have to deal with Pitkin County for permitting. That’s usually not a...

Still no evidence of renewed activity, as of this afternoon.
  24. M

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

There has been no progress at the site for the past week. The SCE hookup, landscaping, and fence repair seem to be the pacing tasks.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

I visited the Westlake site today and saw no evidence of any work by SCE (or anyone else) over the past week. Two weeks ago, a member of the electrical crew told me Caruso has been pushing SCE to connect the equipment, but he's obviously had about as much success as I expected. What could...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

@MonkeyTOGA @ecarfan @qsnexus All of you are correct. The location is in Thousand Oaks, but it's also in Westlake Village. When American-Hawaiian Steamship bought property in the early 1960s to develop the planned community of Westlake Village, the parcel straddled the Los Angeles - Ventura...

    Supercharger - Concord, CA (LIVE 2 Mar 2018, 19 V2 stalls)

I spoke with the head of security this morning. He advised me that even though the installation of the SCs is complete, it could be another 4-6 weeks before they are accessible. Until they remove all of the construction vehicles and landscape the berm behind the SCs, they don’t want to allow “a...

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

SCE still hasn’t begun their work. But the site looks well prepped for the connection.

    Supercharger - Calabasas, CA - Commons Way (LIVE 12 May 2022, 20 V3 stalls)

That’s what I heard as well. But as of yesterday afternoon, the Westlake (TO) crew apparently hasn’t shown up in Calabasas.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

The majority of the construction crew has begun working on their next assignment—reportedly the Calabasas Commons. Apparently, SCE will begin connecting the equipment to their grid next week.

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

The cabinets are finally all in place. Quite a bit more wiring needed.
  33. M

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

I’ve been out of town for more than weeks. Even with holiday interruptions, I thought I’d see more progress. Today, they are pulling wires to each SC but, as you can see, there is much left to accomplish.
  34. M

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Finally some progress on the transformer portion of the job. Apparently, much of the trenching has to be done by hand, to avoid disturbing the roots of Sycamore trees. Today, they installed three underground vaults, so the pace may be picking up.
  35. M

Supercharger - Thousand Oaks, CA - East Thousand Oaks Blvd (re-opened May 2021)

Lots of progress installing charging stations. Not so much on transformers.
