I used to think CNN was reputable

I've just checked the forum to see if anyone else noticed that. It's freaking ridiculous and that headline and article, which is pure speculation from some guy, who's very business might be to undermine some companies for his stock benefits. And the article content is one thing, but that...

Standard Battery should be available in 6-9 months. Will it require premium interior ?

I think retooling for a non-premium version is more complicated than for SR/AWD/Performance versions. Different roof, seats, headliner, speakers etc. And they get less money for that version. So... that will be the very last version they build. If ever. I would not be surprised if in 6 months...

Rear ended.. minor damage but don’t know what to do

I just can't understand why OP would not go through insurance for such an accident where it's so obvious who's at fault. It's a brand new $60k car, full of sensors and whatnot. I'd only do it through insurance, even for a piece of mind. Getting the "at fault party" pay out of pocket is something...

How long to adapt to EV driving style?

Seriously, days, weeks? What are you guys talking about? It's like 15 minutes of slowing down to quickly and after an hour you get used to it and forget anythings different. It's just getting used to the accelerator pedal modulation, that's it. Tesla is still a CAR, not a spaceship.

M3 Tear Down by Munro & Associates. Pictures By Motor Trend

The cost might have increased vs what was forecast, but not what it cost in 2017 to build Model 3. If automation it was working and cost efficient then it'd stay. It wasn't. So instead of using that failed automation they were putting the cars together manually on a line not prepared for it. No...

Why do people really want Tesla to fail?

And also because Tesla is pushing against the odds. Because it's trying to do unthinkable, it's persistent, it challenges what can be done. A lot of people or companies would have given up by now. So it'd make them feel better knowing that Tesla failed. It's pretty classic scenario I think where...

    wait for cheaper version?

I wouldn't worry about that. It was (is) an issue with first production when they were barely making any cars. When SR opens up that should be when the production is at 5k cars a week. So employee orders would be dealt with in a week and prior owners in a month tops in my opinion.

Dual Motor no longer offers range choice

I disagree. Once they can have a line able to produce SR and LR and RWD and AWD then there's no reason, other than financial, not to offer SR RWD. So I don't think they'd bluntly do that. It's understandable to start line setup for more expensive configuration first, but once all drivetrain...

Model 3 manufacture month on driver side door

Maybe, but then didn't they ask EPA to reduce the official range?

Model 3 - demo car first impressions

About the door rattle... it was pretty bad and it was the same on the demo cars in Stanford, San Jose and on a rental I had for a day (VIN 36xx). I could probably live with it. And I know Tesla and M3 fans could turn a blind eye to it, but I was checking out the car with my friend, who drives...

Is this the Model 3 screaming bargain alternative?

I don't know how can one think of it as even a remote alternative. It's a hybrid with 40 miles of range, come on. It's car alternative, as are hundreds other cars, it's not an electric car alternative to M3. Actually there isn't any Model 3 alternative currently available or planned. There's no...

Model 3 production suspended from Feb 20-24

The timing is not right for it. It would make more sense to do that first week of April. After the end of quarter delivery rush. I'm sure they can sell thousands more configs without AWD first. So I doubt AWD setup was the reason behind it.

Model 3 production suspended from Feb 20-24

Seems pretty normal to me to shutdown the production to put improvements in place. This is basically no-news info. How would you upgrade the production line while its running. If anything, that's a good sign.

    Leaving car with valet

No. And I'd avoid valet parking for those exact reason. Just trying to make a point that M3 is like any other car to drive and operate on basic level.
  15. R

    Leaving car with valet

Ok, forgot about that silly card, so yeah, that might be confusing :D But apart from that, and of course being worried about rare new car, you operate it like any other.

    Leaving car with valet

Why is everyone freaking out about someone operating model 3? How exactly is that different from any automatic ICE? You put in drive and off you go. Park the car, use a reverse maybe and then put in park. Same thing you would do with ANY car. And being valets, driving in 1 minute, they are not...

Invites first week of March, just CA or everywhere?

I don't think so, it'd be foolish if they fail to achieve that rate. At best they hope to make 2500/week. So they will first make them and simply fullfil existing orders faster and then send invites with shorter delivery times.

    Model 3 rear ended

If you rear ended that Volvo it'd be the opposite. Front of the car always gets more damage than the rear - crumple zone etc. Nothing special about the M3 here.

Model 3 standard range postponed until Early 2019

I don't really get people saying that Tesla will never make 35k SR version. It's a bit contradicting with everyone saying that battery prices are dropping all the time, that EVs will become cheaper and will eventually reach price parity with ICE. If the later is going to happen then you WILL get...

Model 3 standard range postponed until Early 2019

Swap used up suspension parts, repaint, stamp a new VIN and sell as refurbished for 30k.

Model 3 standard range postponed until Early 2019

It will arrive, just very very late. Delaying is one thing, backing out of something that's been said and promised multiple times is another thing. It wasn't a remark made on a tweeter or a random interview. It was in official press releases, presentations and what not. I'd expect it in 2019...

Why I Won't Be Ordering EAP and FSD

I've thought for a while now that EAP package is how Tesla makes money on the cars now, M3 included. I mean stuff like auto parking, radar cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automatic wipers, is what you get in a tech package for $1, maybe $2k tops, elsewhere. Having a car stay in line for...
