Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

My car actually went in for the upgrade today, the estimate showed $2500 but my final invoice shows $1500...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't read every post in this thread but just tried to catch up on the last few pages...I have one of the configurations of Model S that was NOT able to be upgraded up until recently (AP 1.0, no power lift gate). I just checked the Tesla infotainment upgrade page and the...

Model 3 HW3 retrofit questions, wait time, issues

I was there getting some work done on our other car when I just thought I'd ask if they were doing the upgrades. I did get a loaner for the day, and I don't recall them ever saying I was the first, so I probably wasn't, haha...

Model 3 HW3 retrofit questions, wait time, issues

They did mine a few days ago (they being the Hawaii SC) and I haven't had any problems. My settings were maintained and everything, although they warned me that there was a chance that everything got reset. It took roughly a day for them to finish.

How long to get $1,000 deposit back from request?

I cancelled a second reservation over a weekend a couple of weeks ago. I chose the ACH option and the reservation was gone from my account within hours and the money was in my checking account on Monday morning. YMMV.

Kia Niro EV reveal: 236 mi range, sales starting 2018 in Korea

    Hawaii Model 3

My dad picked his 3D up last Thursday, felt a little bad for the employees because he might have been the only guy who wanted to pick up his car right before the storm was expected to arrive...

Stories of your Model 3 phone-as-a-key FAILURES, give us a FOB, Tesla!!!

Haha, then he'll be complaining that all his other apps stopped working... And his phone probably still won't work as a key...

Stories of your Model 3 phone-as-a-key FAILURES, give us a FOB, Tesla!!!

I mean, Android 6.0 Marshmallow came out in 2015. You haven't gotten a security update in about a year. Current phones have Android 8.1 Oreo and Android 9.0 P should be coming out in a matter of weeks.

Stories of your Model 3 phone-as-a-key FAILURES, give us a FOB, Tesla!!!

So just so you understand, there are multiple aspects of this problem. The phone communicates with the car via Bluetooth Low Energy which your phone does support, but it's likely that when your phone came out few devices used BLE in this way, so the functionality was largely untested. So there...

Stories of your Model 3 phone-as-a-key FAILURES, give us a FOB, Tesla!!!

I think what it proves is that your phone sucks, it is over 4 years old after all... I mean, is it even getting updates anymore?

Stories of your Model 3 phone-as-a-key FAILURES, give us a FOB, Tesla!!!

Sure, but that wasn't the situation that I was replying to. The OP was complaining about it getting in the way at the checkout line at the grocery, not in the middle of his triathlon.

Stories of your Model 3 phone-as-a-key FAILURES, give us a FOB, Tesla!!!

They are complaining because they want to leave their phone in the car for some reason. I know, it makes no sense at all.

Won't Shift in to Reverse or Drive

Yes. They noted it and someone from the diagnostic team called back later and suggested that I unpair my phone from the phone key and audio book and then re-pair it. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to test this long term but maybe someone else can see if this helped...

    2018.18.13

Maybe I'm just blind or something but I don't see that after updating to 18.13...I have several driver profiles, maybe those icons don't show up if you have too many?

Won't Shift in to Reverse or Drive

Interesting. I had this happen to me once and I tried to remote start the car from the app, which didn't work (ended up having to do a full power down from the touchscreen). Hopefully it won't happen again but I'll try the keycard next time.

Changes to invite priority, now only effected by date/time of reservation

For what it's worth, that wasn't where reservations were taken, instead people had to go to the service center to make their reservations that day.

    Phone as Key Issues

10 seconds is nothing compared to the 30 seconds to never unlocking I was getting with the previous version of the firmware + app. 10 seconds is more of a nuisance to me than standing out there pulling the handle multiple times before realizing it's probably not going to happen and thinking...

    Phone as Key Issues

My car updated itself to 2018.12.1 a few days ago (and the Tesla app to 3.3.5), and at least for me, the phone as key stuff seems more reliable lately. I've still gotten a few slow unlocks but they seem to be less slow (I pull the handle and within 10 seconds the mirrors unfold and I can open...

    Phone as Key Issues

In fairness, as much as I have been complaining in this thread, it DOES work like 90%+ of the time. I don't think that's acceptable, but there was an app update pushed out yesterday and afterwards so far it hasn't failed yet...I did see the BT stack crash on my phone (Pixel 2 XL on latest...

    Phone as Key Issues

I think I understand you but my point is that my symptoms don't seem to indicate that a stack ban is what happened to me? If a stack ban can only be cleared by rebooting the phone or disabling and reenabling Bluetooth then this is inconsistent with what I have been experiencing. The phone seems...

    Phone as Key Issues

So some more info, now that I think about it... After the car was slow to unlock this afternoon, I was hanging out in my bedroom (which is in BT range of the car)...when all of a sudden the phone/media Bluetooth attempted to connect to my phone. (This is very annoying because I have it set up...

    Phone as Key Issues

A small consolation is that if you're tracking the progress of the phone connection in the app, I'm pretty sure you can just unlock the car using the app if the car is awake. But of course you've already pulled your phone out of your pocket at that point...

    Phone as Key Issues

I tried this and the problem still occurs occasionally, unfortunately. When it happens you can hear what sounds like the clunk of the contactors when you pull the handle. Opening the Tesla app shows the phone key as "connecting" even though the car has woken up and the data in the app has...

    Phone as Key Issues

We have Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL and it's occasionally not working. Maybe 5 to 10% of the time. Happened this afternoon and the phone key in the app showed as "connecting" but the car opened up instantly when I pressed the unlock button in the app. We're on FW 10.5 on the car and the April update on...

How long from finding your vin online to receiving the delivery call?

My VIN was assigned shortly after yours. I called yesterday because I wanted to get a rough estimate on delivery timing, they told me my car was on its way to the port before getting shipped over, and it sounded like it might take at least 15-20 days to get here (but they didn't have a firm...
