Unpleasant Experience nearly running out of charge on M6

Well despite your unfortunate experience, at least that's good news (for those of us who plan very long journeys anyway!) to hear that ABRP was so close to real-world results.

Unpleasant Experience nearly running out of charge on M6

It would be interesting to know what ABetterRoutePlanner predicts if you put in the car model and details of the journey. Wonder whether it would have made a better stab at estimating?

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Made an improvement but still stuck. I had built the VM with Ubuntu out of habit/comfort. I nuked the VM and started again with Debian 9 and that got it to digest the first year's worth. Now I am back to the curved arrow icons. Meanwhile the log is reporting "[info] Repairing drive #633 ..."...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Could someone help me with importing TeslaFi to Teslamate please. My first few attempts were useless -- I have 28 months of data and attempting to import them all at once just overloaded the poor GCP micro VM. Now I've upgraded it to GCP standard machine and am trying a few months at a time...

key fob doesn't recognize the user

Your problem description isn’t too clear, but you might be hitting a design error in how Tesla does fob recognition: Originally designed for an era when most users had Passive Entry on, the car selects the profile based on the first fob to approach the car - and not the fob which has pressed...

All weather floor mats and boot mat in UK

The Tesla service centre can sell you a set of Tesla all weather mats. I got mine over the phone from Bristol - dispatched to my home very quickly.

    Speed limit in France

I got a response from the "escalate" facility on my Tesla account: "Our Engineering team ... confirmed with us that they have built a new map containing the updated speed limits which is undergoing testing to ensure the safest experience for our customers. The map will be updated once it has...

    Speed limit in France

Somehow I doubt that crowdsourcing will have fixed >400,000 km of roads yet.

    Speed limit in France

No. It appears to be complete chaos, with some départments refusing to change signs, others changing them but slowly. And speed limits can be implied by town limit signs and other things. For a newcomer it is utterly confusing and exactly the sort of place where looking down at the Tesla...

    Speed limit in France

I don’t know, but your other options include: - email [email protected] - use the escalate button on your Tesla.com account page - email [email protected] My attempts got nowhere but if lots of people complain perhaps they will understand. My favourite erroneous reply so far was...

    Speed limit in France

Is is very unhelpful that this has not been fixed by Tesla - other gps systems received an update. It is significant because it affects every minor road in the whole country. I have reported the issue to EU service and also used the “escalate” button on my Tesla account. I suggest you do the...

Many thanks. (And for the various minor UI tweaks recently). Just keeps getting better and better!

    A Better Routeplanner

Yes, that is my point. If everything has a standardised name which contains the proper keywords, then all your bulleted variants will work for a search. However if some are entered into the mapping database as just "Tesla" or "charger" or "supercharger" then some of your variants will fail.

    A Better Routeplanner

Thanks, that would be very helpful. May I also suggest that in the same pass through the data you pick one standard structure for the name and standardise on that? Eg “Tesla Supercharger Bordeaux”. I’ve noticed that some sources have lots of different structures for naming superchargers and as a...

    A Better Routeplanner

I think this got worse when the service was switched to a new map provider recently. I wonder whether the developer could get a full list of superchargers submitted as map data. Certainly in Europe I’m seeing a low hit rate for these lookups - while they seem to be on Google Maps - and it is...

    Use of Web Browser

There was a problem now fixed in version 2018.24.1 where the browser was blank after the car slept. Search the forums for more.

What Swag did Tesla give you at delivery?

A very slightly grubby cardboard folder with lease contracts in it. Oh, and we thought the handover was supposed to include offering us a phone connector. Not only did they tell us our car wasn’t high enough spec to have that (it was only 2x the most we ever spent on high spec BMWs after all)...

Browser won’t load any websites after car wakes up

Our Service Centre called to say that this has been confirmed as fixed in 2018.24.1. That seems to be our experience too.

Browser won’t load any websites after car wakes up

Slow is one thing, but completely blank is a bug. I hope this gets sorted (or Tesla can get one of us fixed with a repeatable solution).

    Spain / Ibil current advice

I emailed Ibil support who replied quickly and helpfully: Current experience still welcomed, to confirm this and quell the urban rumour.

    Spain / Ibil current advice

We are planning a trip around northern Spain - nowhere near any Superchargers - San Sebastian, Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz and then back to France. Unfortunately we will not be staying in places with destination chargers. It seems the best bet is the ChaDeMo outlets run by Ibil in a few petrol...

How to save thousands on Tesla UK PCP finance

FYI, I got my paperwork today and the 7p/mile is in fact 8.2p/mile because it excludes VAT. This additional VAT does not appear to be shown on the quotation at time of order.

Charging advice - home and parents

I just received mine, without a VIN. I called the parts department at Heathrow. They seemed to need to fiddle about a bit with the systems (maybe they invented a VIN).

Charging advice - home and parents

The Rolec one, at least according to their brochure, seems to have been designed by an electrician. We decided that the lovely front wall of our house did NOT need to have a plastic window through which we can see all the writing on the circuit breaker :-)

    Home charger woes...

It certainly isn't easy to find an approach which minimises disruption in the house. Our electrician is proposing a different approach for our wall charger - rather than route through the house from the distribution panel he is going to tee off from the meter cupboard outside, cutting an...

    UK PCP return value deductions

Also very helpful. So it looks like 3 yrs PCP is the way to go. Next question! I ran a couple of models based on the rough info provided on the website, and it looks as though if I do 20k miles (for example) - which I assume is per year, they don't say - it is cheaper (and safer) to set the...

    UK PCP return value deductions

That is very helpful thank you. Looks as though I can be fairly relaxed about return deductions except for tyres where I need to guess a refresh cycle (I see there is lots on that on the forum). Overall it looks as though Tesla’s PCP gives a quite affordable hedge against the value tanking...

    UK PCP return value deductions

Trying to calculate whether to use cash or PCP for a new Model S... Does anyone have any experience in what sorts of wear and tear are considered fair by Tesla when returning a PCP car at end of term (assume 2-3 years)? For example, are they fairly tolerant or do they hit you with £500 for a...
